I'd like to differ. I agree with you that shooting straight up into 8th floor is a rather seldom occurrence.
What's IMHO worse is the lack of limits to gun depression. Because that makes it easy for tanks to defend versus close assaults. And I mean VERY close assaults with grenades.
Without a limit to depression a tank can literally shoot through its own motor.

A grenade assault which does not kill the tank is the death sentence for the attacker because a tank has no blind spots where it can't shoot you.

For a certain type of battle this happens quite often. See picture.

It goes alphabetical by file name. Last name's mod wins.
BTW, I think the Steam placement of the Z folder on the last page is wrong. I bet it needs to be in the Data/ folder, not the top level game folder.

Multithreading will allow the use of more than one CPU core at any given time. Right now if you have an 8-core CPU only one core is used. That slows down gameplay considerably for people who have many slow cores.
Vulkan and Metal and new programming interfaces for 3D. OpenGL and DirectX as used by the CMx2 and CMx1 are old hats.
Shaders allow you to make the surfaces on 3D models much prettier, or realistic.

Normal map naming in the CMRT v2.10 and v2.11archives is not always right. The variation numbers are often in the wrong place in the file name. This will prevent the game from using these normal maps.

Redwolf reacted to QuiGon in QB points
That's actually what I ended up doing. The search function lead me to it. It's much more cumbersome though than just setting a bigger QB budget.
And the problem doesn't end there. I'm playing a MP match of CM:CW this way, so I put together my force in the quick battle purchase screen with a budget of 30,000 points that we agreed on. Then I went to the scenario editor to put the same force together there, that I created in the QB setup, but... I couldn't! The formations available in the scenario editor are quite a lot different than the ones available in a QB (even if same month and year is set)!!!
For example: In a QB the US has infantry, mech and armored categories, while in the scenario editor there are only infantry and mech categories available to the US. Armor is missing there, instead armored formations are mixed in with the mech infantry. That leads to the next problem: I chose a mech infantry bataillon (task force) in the QB setup, where each company consisted of 3 mech rifle platoons and a 4th weapons platoon. Now in the scenario editor unit setup, the mech infantry bataillon (task force) is a totally differnt formation, where the 3rd platoon in each company is a tank platoon...
This inconsistency makes it really difficult to play it as you proposed 😔

At the Luftwaffe Ministry, MG Platoon commander Hörter and the last rifleman from his HQ team hug the floor as enemy bullets slice through everything around them. They are frozen with fear and anticipate death any second. As the Soviets change magazines, the eyes of the two men open and find each other. In that moment, the gaze of each silently asks the other, "Do you want to die like a dog, or like a man?"  Suddenly, they find strength, rise and engage the enemy squad.

The Soviets, thinking they had won the firefight, are taken aback. Hörter cuts one down with his MP40. The remaining enemy soldiers lose their nerve and dive for cover. When Hörter and his comrade stop to reload, the Soviets exit the room and run down the stairs to the ground floor.

At that moment, the concrete HQ Stug rounds the corner and scans for targets. In a reversal of fortune, the Soviets are now the ones facing annihilation! But, like with Hörter, fear is replaced with courage and two Russians ignore the new threat to turn and re-engage Hörter's team.

    The Stug fires.

But the shot comes too late for Hörter. Like so many men, fate has decreed that he and his comrade are indeed to meet their end in the Fire and Rubble.

Redwolf got a reaction from arkhangelsk2021 in US armour spotting ability - buttoned or unbuttoned?
I seem to recall that the regular "move" command is as slow as it is because it abstracts away a short halt to fire. So it gives an accuracy bonus when on the move, as if it had stopped momentarily to shoot (which you can't do in CMx2). Likewise, a spotting bonus (as if swiveling the turret, which you can't do in CMx2). But that is from memory, something that might have been said during CMBN release discussions.

When a TOW M151 crew crawls around after the vehicle is gone, then it says "not deployed". It can't be deployed, so that text is misleading/a bug.

Ummm...well I didn't tell the M901 to pop smoke.  In fact, I didn't see a shot fired at the M901.  Regardless, it was a major mistake because the smoke is drifting across my front and now I can't shoot at masses of tanks rapidly closing the range.   I guess I will have to drive through the smoke to close the range so I can shoot again but not a very good idea because the soviet tanks are pretty close now.
This auto popping of smoke may not be a good idea if it allows Soviet tanks to close the range with impunity.  I had the advantage but not now.

I think gaming and home office have been driving the shortage of computer hardware.
Mining on some random single 3080 doesn't earn you any bitcoins anymore. Sure, quite a few people will try, but I think the majority of demand is from actual gaming.
There also is increased demand for graphics cards from computation, such as machine learning and molecular dynamics. That isn't hopeless like bitcoin is, and people play with it while at home improving their skills.
Think about it: you work from home now. There is a big emotional boost from having a nice computer, especially a nice monitor.

I'm a great defender of BFC, but this is a pretty valid criticism - briefings are a big part of the immersion, and in comparison to all the other aspects of the game, should be one of the easiest things to get right.

That was just me being too clever by half. When I was in the British Army it was (and likely still is ) convention when giving orders that the mission paragraph was always repeated for emphasis. Apologies it caused confusion

    MT-LBU 1V14 (artillery observation vehicle).
It only works as an artillery observer when acquired inside a battalion (e.g. MRD BMP [task force]).
It does not work for fires control when the vehicle is acquired from "single vehicles".
Savegame available, but you can see it right in the editor. The single vehicle has all batteries denied. More context in this thread:

Redwolf got a reaction from A Canadian Cat in So I tried to install CMFI again.... what a mess.
Well, either way your first step is to collect all the activation keys (from email or from your BFC account). Nobody else can tell you whether you have 3.0 or 4.0 or what.
Even if CMFI was released on Steam today you would need those keys to get Steam keys.
It is not unusual for commercial software to require that you keep your activation keys. Short of online-only like Steam it is normal.

    Hello everyone,
since the Marder IFV had it's 50th anniversary last week I wanted to point out some minor visual details regarding the differences between the 1a3 and 1a5 model. Currently both models look similar in game. Code-wise the 1a5 has its improved mine protection working though.
So if you take a closer look at the attached images the 1a5 model should have:
new armored skirts three metal boxes, one on the front and two on the backside new MLC, 42 instead of 37
    kind regards
