No, it is the pending thing. Once resolved the link will appear there. Sometimes it hangs in pending.

That is a useless error message since it fails to say what kind of memory it ran out of.

I don't mind the tank commanders that much.
What I really mind is how vulnerable to frontal fire gunners are that have a shield to the front - such as the SdKfZ 251/1 halftrack.

Well, they should be working on engine v5 right now, which is adaptions for modern PCs.

I don't mind how easy they are to kill in open ground.
What nags me is how useless foxholes and trenches are in CMx2 for protection, and even have a negative effect on being spotted.

Isn't there another patch coming Monday to fix the tournament scoring? Maybe the old 1.04 was pulled for that reason.

It would be good if there could be more cover bonus added to all map tiles.
In reality even what looks like flat terrain is rarely so, and some kind of at least basic cover can mainly be found, whether by slight undulations, dips, rises, bases of hedges, etc
In game unless the map designer actually includes all of these slight differences then the terrain is considered flat and offers no cover at all.
I think this impacts on the amount of heavy casualties seen in CM as a lot of time there is no cover and targets can be seen and engaged from long distance.
It would be too large a task to adjust all maps. A better alternative may be to adjust all cover values up, so that even flat ground has some potential to at least partly protect your troops.
Next time your out and about, take a look at what appears to be a flat field or the like, and if you can get your view close to the ground. You will find it is generally difficult to see that far due to the reasons mentioned above.

Redwolf got a reaction from Artkin in How do I increase the UI size at higher resolutions like 4k resoluotion?
No, what I am saying is that on the Mac the UI is actually big enough and not scaled down to negative infinity like on a windows machine with 28" 4k screen.

The latest - and last - update of spotting ability, with German tank destroyers and assault guns added. No big surprises there.

It is the last update because my old computer started complaining loudly about the ordeal I've been putting it through. I still want to squeeze a few more miles out of my old friend, so I promised him no more CM testing.

I've not read the entire thread, so I could easily have missed this:
More translucent colors for setup zones and target arcs,or a toggle to turn them off.

No, neither is actually the case for CMx2. Even the fastest per-core speed processors are limited on CPU time, not disk throughput, for CMx2. Don't give people bogus purchase advise.
DCS for example is the other way round. Without a (particularly fast) SSD you want to strangle it. So SSDs are useful in the general case, just not for CMx2.

Redwolf reacted to The_Capt in Any lessons from current Ukraine invasion mean anything to a 1982 Warsaw Pact attack?
Not pure conjecture in my opinion.  The Russian military, particularly its ground forces still have the roots of Soviet doctrine in their makeup.  However, they have adapted somewhat in the intervening years.  At the operational level (so the wiki map), that is a very Soviet style attack plan.  It aims to overwhelm an opponent with multiple axis of advance in a single very mass based push.   A series of objectives in depth and avoiding cities and urban combat where possible.
A the tactical level, however, things get a little weird.  Russia abandoned the MRR/TR model in favor of the BTGs which a far more combined arms integrated, looking more like western Battlegroups.  Even with these new structures the Soviet system would see a series of echelon attacks along this major axis, that did not happen.  In a lot of cases the advances just appeared to have stalled (e.g. the long lines of vehicles along single roads), tactically what we are seeing does not have the tempo or velocity of a Soviet style attack.

Yes, loading time is mostly CPU time. Storage speed plays almost no role.
However, this means that multithreading would help (a lot).
