Ghost of Charlemagne got a reaction from Howler in Brit 30mm
The British Army has always had a particular obsession with ammo consumption/supply - which is no doubt linked to some of their greatest defeats in battle being linked to running out of ammunition.
I too was puzzled about the Warrior until I did a bit of research about its background.
It was designed and built in the late Cold War and meant to serve with British Armoured Troops in Germany, where it would be facing hordes of Soviet tanks and IFVs/APCs.
In order to avoid that the vehicle blasted away its ammo within minutes, the slow-firing and 3-6-round Rarden was purposely chosen to ensure that the Warrior would remain combat effective for longer. Also, the lack of a stabilizer for the cannon meant that the crews were encouraged to remain in the pre-planned and prepared defensive positions the British Army would assume if war broke out. The ammo loadout of the Warrior is a clear indication of this role. Also, to the Rarden's credit, it did have the major benefit of not requiring an external power source and can therefore remain in action even if the vehicle's engine is disabled or turned off.
Curiously the export version of the Warrior (called the Desert Warrior) which was acquired by Kuwait is equipped with the 25mm Bushmaster, rather than the Rarden.
About the use of the Warrior in-game, I personally tend to mainly use its machinegun with a cannon for emergencies and/or armoured targets. This does require a lot of micro-management, which can be a bit tedious (setting target arcs is quick but it can lead to some frustrating situations).

Ghost of Charlemagne got a reaction from Megalon Jones in And now.....
I'm more hopeful about fire being implemented like in the old games - where buildings and stuff could be set on fire and destroyed.
Think napalm. And thermobaric explosives.

Do I spy an M60/M48 In the far treeline? Is that DPICM I see raining down on the red hordes?

Ghost of Charlemagne got a reaction from Kinophile in New CM:BS Module (Insert Title Here) Bones Thread
A bit off-topic but I really hope we will one day see official modding tools.
It would be a great way of engaging the CM community now that Battlefront has hit Steam and the player base is growing across multiple platfroms.

Ghost of Charlemagne reacted to Aragorn2002 in New Russian Eastern Front movie
Perhaps for a change a movie can be made by Russians about the tens of millions of innocent and defenceless people that died because of communism, Soviet occupation and Stalin's malice, the misery and cruelty in the unspeakable Gulag concentration camps, the blind terror of the NKVD, both in Russia and Eastern Europe that destroyed millions of lifes, the deportation of millions of Russians, Estonians, Latvians, Poles, Hungarians, Germans, Rumanians and many other nationalities, the murder by starvation upon millions of Ukrainians etc etc etc instead of glorifying a war for which the Russians themselves were for a large part responsible.

Ghost of Charlemagne reacted to fireship4 in Uncons, BM-21?
Uncons, platoon radars, and possibly a re-think of laser warning systems on tanks, since it is such a game-changer. Vehicle emplacements, mine clearing equipment for vehicles, etc.
I'd be more excited for an engine update though, oh, and co-op multiplayer. A simple ammo replenishment mechanic for artillery and on-map units. A second look at making artillery more realistic, specifically more deadly to infantry, more destructive to buildings, more likely to knock out tanks with misses. And the option to call for fire anywhere on the map, or at least anywhere the unit has enemy spotted markers. Hookers. Blackjack.

Nice to see an update.
Personally, Engine 5 Upgrade excites me the most. Hopefully roads will get some love.

Imagination is a powerful thing, but in reality the Target Light command is your friend.
Tactical Tip #1: DO NOT BE AFRAID OF RUNNING OUT OF AMMO, BE AFRAID OF SPENDING IT INEFFECTIVELY.

Ghost of Charlemagne reacted to Sgt.Squarehead in Artillery broken against sub-systems
Yes they do.....But a 10g lump of shell casing travelling at 250m/s will tear through them like a knife through butter.....Take a look at the data (& images) in this thread:
PS - Apparently you have already read it:
You were right.....They were wrong.
Total immunity failure.

Ghost of Charlemagne reacted to Pelican Pal in Artillery broken against sub-systems
I ran some tests of airburst artillery against armored vehicles. In particular T-72 AVs and BMP-1s.
O:10 for artillery call in
2:25 artillery strikes
3:00 review of damaged/destroyed BMPs
8:10 review of vehicles
What I found using a massive amount of artillery is that while it was possible for artillery to destroy the BMP-1s it was unable to do any damage to any subsystem except tracks furthermore no amount of artillery would detonate or disable an ERA block. This seems incorrect to me and likely to be a bug of some variety. Even BMPs that took penetrating hits and crew/passenger losses would not have any subsystem damage. Please watch the linked video and you will see enough artillery to destroy every BMP and level every building on the block. Yet this massive weight of fire does not damage or disable any external system. Not a single DSHK, smoke launcher, AT-4, vision system, ERA block, etc... takes any ounce of damage while multi-story buildings are leveled.
PS: I recently made another post but wanted to create a new one that more accurately identified the issue.

Ghost of Charlemagne reacted to Sgt.Squarehead in BFC Release Schedule?
I believe this may actually be on the cards.....God knows it needs it!
There's so much that could be done with CM:BS if we just had a few more Nations/Factions/Units (IMHO adding Uncons and more ex-Soviet kit would make this game truly awesome).

Ghost of Charlemagne reacted to ncc1701e in Predator drone
I very much like the information sharing of what the drone sees and the ability to bring indirect fires with just the drone's LOS. It is pretty well done.
One thing I would like to ask that seems consistent to me with a 2007-timeframe. Would it be possible to add an armed MQ-1 Predator with two AGM-114 Hellfire missiles for the US player?
I see there is already the MQ-1C Grey Eagle in CMBS. I assume it is armed. Bringing this code back by patch in CMSF2, to add a MQ-1 Predator, then seems possible although it may not be desired today. I think it will add a lot of new possibilities to the game.
Thanks for your consideration

Ghost of Charlemagne got a reaction from Lethaface in New Shock force 2 patch
T-72AV/T-72AV-Turms-T model is also missing its smoke launcher.
Syrian Special Forces trucks carry 7,62x39 instead of 7,62x54R.
Airborne squads still only have 100 7,62x54R rounds.

Ghost of Charlemagne reacted to MOS:96B2P in AI Plan - refreshing memory
I give each vehicle a single order action spot. So for two vehicles each order would have 2 action spots. It is easier to control the route they take and to keep them from getting to close and in each others way. The tanks should move at the same speed if they both have riders. A tank with riders will only go at MOVE speed. So a tank with no riders can overtake a tank with riders if both are ordered to move QUICK.
If you use the movement commands ASSAULT or MAX ASSAULT or ADVANCE the vehicles will bound pass each other. To keep everybody moving I tell the AI QUICK. Of course, with riders, the tanks will not exceed MOVE speed but they will not try to do alternating bounds if given QUICK.
If necessary I modify the terrain (within reason) to help the AI.
If you do the above, in number one, hopefully the tanks will finish within a few seconds of each other.
I also give riders their own AI group separate from the tank AI group.
The below may help. I think I got most of the below from @George MC.
If an AI Group consists of only a single team (whether created that way or owing to casualties), it will not execute an Assault or Max Assault order. Moreover, it will ignore all further orders in the chain (i.e. become static for the rest of the game). Single teams will always obey Advance, Quick or Fast orders.
Max Assault – Quick with alternating team/vehicle bounds, one team pass the other team. Should only be given to AI groups that contain multi-team infantry sections. At Pause locations the AI will fire on painted area targets if in LOS. The AI prioritizes shooting over moving.
Assault – Quick with alternating team/vehicle bounds, one team pass the other team in a crisscross pattern. Should only be given to AI groups that contain multi-team infantry squads. At pause locations in-between order locations the AI will fire on painted area targets if in LOS. The AI prioritizes shooting over moving.
Advance – Quick with alternating team/vehicle bounds, one team pass the other team. Teams moving in overwatch. At pause locations in-between order locations the AI will fire on painted area targets if in LOS.
Quick – Quick with the teams/vehicles moving together (no bounds) and stopping together for short Pauses. Covers ground quicker that the above commands. At pause locations in-between order locations the AI will fire on painted area targets if in LOS but will fire for a shorter length of time.
Dash – Similar to the in game Fast with all teams/vehicles moving together at the same time with no Pauses. Troops tire and become strung out on long moves. Will not fire at a painted target until at the orders destination.

Ghost of Charlemagne reacted to ikalugin in Russian army under equipped?
The economy argument is poor, as it as a rule uses nominal GDP statistic, which, due to the weak ruble, does not represent the real size of Russian economy accurately. Same applies to military spending figures, CNA published a paper to that end, after they adjusted for PPP and imports Russia had ~1/4 of US spending (and greater than any of the Europeans), China had ~3/4.
As to the regionality of Russian power - due to the Russian geographic position we have either direct influences in many of the key regions (Arctic, Europe, Middle East, Central Asia, Far East) and some indirect influence elsewhere (ie Russian operations in South America and Africa).
So while Russia is not the deamon behind all world ills (we don't have the capacity or will to be that) it is still globally relevant, if weaker power.

Not entirely relevant, but at least as relevant as a lot of the other stuff in this thread:

This article really does underline the need for more T-72 variants (especially T-72Bs) in CM:BS.
