Funny I just learned ziggy stardust and, more interestingly, Starman -- classic Bowie w clever & unique chord progression.  And I did not order a Les Paul (I have a guitar that sounds very les paul-sh) but I did just order this beauty below (delivery tomorrow), i do love me some Vox.  This did unfortunately cause serious delays for KG Peiper as I spent way too much time researching between this and Gretsch electromatics.  der Fuhrer was positively frothing w fury at this, but hey, war's lost anyway, right?  I gotta start thinking about my next gig after hostilities end.  Hopefully the Brits will capture me, they seem nice.

    BFCElvis,
Much appreciate BFC's diligence on maximizing customer value received and your explanation ref how people got/get the physical game. I think the cover art is cool, bears a foreshadowing message and is atmospheric as all get out!

    Regards,

Keeping it simple, I'd like to see
A cancel button on the big red button's save email dialog. A two way acquire mechanism, so I can correct my mistakes when I take something that my unit can't use.   The combine command be a more reliable way to put my teams back together so I can break out a different team, or assault with the full squad after have broken it into teams. Maybe just select the two teams, and issue an assault. Command phase improvements. Things like tabbing through the selected unit's way-points, adding and deleting way-points, or selecting a unit and being able to quickly position the camera relative to it. More flexibility in embarking and debarking my grunts from and back into the vehicle. Wouldn't it be nice to move a vehicle to a waypoint where they wait for the grunts to load up, then move to another location. A way to select multiple units (e.g. vehicles), and plot a series of way-points, and all the selected vehicles travel through those way-points. (i.e. absolute movement rather than relative movement) In general, I'd like improvements to make the command phase to be less tedious. The easier it is to play the game, the more enjoyable it becomes.

To update any Combat Mission PBEM game when a new patch comes out do the following steps:
Load the old configuration PBEM game (.ema) in the old configuration of Combat Mission. Instead of processing your turn, save it as a save game (.bts). Update your Combat Mission to the latest configuration (in this case going from 1.01 to 1.02). Load the save game (.svg) Play and process your turn as normal. Enjoy. Like and subscribe. 😆

    Ditto, Elvis...
My buddy and I are huge Asimov nerds. He read all the books, and I read the Foundation and Robots series. We're watching this series together -- at episode 5 right now. We're puzzled by why they made so many unnecessary changes to the story and the characters.
The production value, acting and directing are all alright (not Star Trek: Discovery). But why did they add all these silly elements to the story? Clone emperors? Robot wars? Random terrorist attacks? ALIENS?!
Salvor Hardin was a suave Trader, and master manipulator, who said "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." In this show, she's essentially Commander Sheppard. Kicking ass and taking names. Demerzel was the real power keeping the Trantor Empire together. The Emperors were figureheads. In the show, she's essentially a glorified nanny? And lets the Emperors randomly destroy planets, in fits of erratic rage?
I have no problem with their gender swaps, and their actresses do a good job. However, these are not the characters from the books. The script over-wrote unique and cool characters into predictable clichés.
Without going into spoilers... you know when the most important character gets randomly assassinated, by a close friend? Felt like they purposefully tried to troll the fans of the novels. If you're making a show based on a popular book, why not attempt to follow the plot? I understand, you may have to streamline it for TV -- but they are actively adding silly nonsense, for no apparent reason.
I can recommend the Dune movie, however. Denis Villeneuve actually read Dune, and the movie treats the source material with respect.

I will. But I strongly suggest reading what Peter Hitchen has to say on this subject in his book The Phoney Victory, partly based upon the standard work on the bombing war by Richard Overy. Very balanced and informative.
    I will say no more.

BFCElvis reacted to Probus in Sexiest and Ugliest Tanks of WWII
We've been having fun discussing which is the most survivable WWII Tank in WWII Combat Mission. I thought I'd ask a more light-hearted question:
Which is the 'sexiest' and least 'sexy' tank of WWII?
Meaning which tank has the best lines and just it's looks make the enemy break.
Conversely, the least sexy tank is ugly, screams "I'm a target" and suppresses the enemy due to laughter.

For me, the classic WWII Tank is the Panther. There are better tanks, and in person it may not be as impressive, but the profile just looks great.

Least sexy tank (that I know of) is the Renault FT-17 tankette. Barely qualifies as a tank and there are Armored Cars (like the Puma) that would instill more fear in the enemy.

"Russia didn't become communist" Well you're right there, The Bolsheviks failed miserably to create a communist society, in the words of one Czech socialist back in '68 they only established a "party oligarchy". Of course, I was too busy watching Man Utd win the European Cup to bother about such things. I know that Ricky Lenin, Terry Trotsky and Stevie Stalin did go on to play for Felchester Rovers but that is a tad outside of the realm of CM.

You need to enable negative voting because nothing bad could possibly happen if you did that. 😈(sarcasm)
But seriously, I think negative feedback is abused in most places and causes an "echo chamber" effect, not to mention a more toxic environment.  Good choice @BFCElvis.  I would thank an upvote you but...

    here is my solution!

it does not harm the aesthetics too much

This allows you to enjoy the scenario without it being spoiled by this bug which is very difficult to remove !

BFCElvis reacted to benpark in playing big maps
Making large maps, then cutting them down is the method I generally use. F&R has a large pool of these. Some are also used in campaigns, QBs, and scenarios, and some exist as a base from which to make your own.
I tend to start with a historical area that I know is an area of focus for an action that is to be turned into a scenario. I'll look for as much detail as source material as possible first (period maps, GE, GE VR, historical descriptions, and any other references that can be useful). These maps get as much detail as possible, but some extra may be added for resulting, smaller maps. I'll chop the big map down to the relevant area for that particular purpose. Any extra areas could then exist as QB's or...extra.
It always seems better to me to do more initially (even if not used later), rather than adding well into the process. It also allows for a better historical representation if the source comes from the overlay in the big picture.

OK, OK.  The only way we are going to solve this is to extend the Cold War game to include Joseph Stalin and SuperShermans.  I don't see any other way around it. 🤣 (We may need to cut partisans from Fire and Rubble and have those folks work on Cold War 1950s tanks for the Sinai so no schedules will slip. 🤓 Ah heck, just include the 1946 WWIII option while your at it.) 🤣
