  1. I have and always will pay for any and all CM improvements. Keep 'me coming!
  2. No need for a two man team, I assume the good Cpl means that a squad or team sends one guy to peek, maybe up to two to take pot shots, whatever. Having two would be nice, but I'm thrilled to have the one guy. Three guys would basically be the max anyway--standing, kneeling, prone--as opposed to a whole team or squad, I'd think. How many times in real life (modern MOUT excepted, maybe?) were 4-8 guys fighting around a corner, anyway?
  3. Joao, were your 15 men with garands all in the same building/on the same floor? If they were, they presented more targets for bullets, ricochets and the like, as opposed to the lean, mean, 4-man German team. I always split my squads into teams and play them separate all the way through, except for odd occasions, and by and large seem to take fewer casualties compared to when I first started playing CMx2 6 years ago. Not scientific, but I am certain overall casualties in any given battle are much lower. Learning use of proper tactics within the game system probably helped me too! The Aachen campaign is tough...I'm not quite through the 1st battle, and I'm prevailing but hurting! I haven't checked, but seeing as it's the AI on defense, the author may well have boosted the Volksgrenadiers soft factors to give them a fighting chance. Your english is excellent, by the way.
  4. UI or icon notation as to what floor the selected unit is on when in a building would be a godsend.
  5. J, did you try to reinstall? Otherwise, you should get a help desk ticket. They'll sort it in short order.
  6. Good information on Evade, RH! I used to use it a lot after Normandy came out (is it in CMSF? That's what I cut my CM teeth on. I think I used it there a lot, too), but haven't bothered with it for many years. I used to think I knew better than the TacAI, or at least knew how I preferred to retreat. I'm going to rethink all that.
  7. Another shout out for footpaths, which don't seem to get a lot of love in CM. It's been over a year since I last putzed around with creating defensive terrain (working off Kohlenklau's Cross of Iron scenario map) but IIRC, footpaths put in a ditch locked depression worked well to sink a trench and still allow firing out of it, while "seemingly" providing a bit better cover. I was going to further experiment with putting different tiles, like RH mentions, around the perimeter of the, er...entrenched trench, which someone, probably RH, lol, posted about quite some time ago. Alas, never got around to it.
  8. I never played CMx1, but I agree with Steiner. This would be a really great addition to the game, IMHO.
  9. Lol, I assume you guys haven't done a lot of "off-roading". You can get bogged and the vehicle following you sails right past you. A lot of factors to take into consideration, including which muddy rut you are trying to track. So for me, if the 3rd vehicle bogs but the 4th doesn't, it doesn't kill the immersion.
  10. ...and scroll/middle button for up-down. Yes, it's not new. I have only ever used the 3-button mouse/no keyboard since Normandy was released.
  11. Kaunitz, I have found through a lot of H-2-H battles (in many of The Few Good Men campaigns) that when you think it's time to withdraw, it's already too late, lol! Seriously, withdrawal is tricky and you should probably start it well before you think you should. As in the real thing, withdrawal in the face of the enemy is dangerous. Btw, smoke is your friend. I always check what teams have smoke grenades (check the Pop Smoke button in the UI Admin panel) and if you have mortars or arty with smoke, use them to cover the retreat. Trenchs and foxholes placed in the proposed line if retreat do help, and of course use the terrain as best you can. I think the game looks great when zooming in, so I wonder if you are using the lower in-game quality settings, or maybe your graphics card is older or something? Cheers, mate!
  12. Nope, it works fine for me in v4 on all the he titles, Apache.
  13. I'm in the middle of the first battle. It's action-packed and I'm loving it! I split and dispersed most of the squads in the two forward trench lines, put some to the rearward of the trenches, because I figured the pesky Russkies would have some heavy arty to soften me up, and I was right! The one panzerschreck team in that short trench to the Northwest (?...I'm not near my comp atm) I moved laterally to the longer trench and it took out two T34s trying to move down the far left road in one turn. Fun stuff, and what a great map! Superb job, as always, Michael! Kudos to all the mods too, and to Kohlenklau for wrangling all you guys together to give us the Finns!
  14. Thanks Michael, dld'd it and looking forward to taking it for a spin!
  15. RH, that was a really well done scenario you let me play test. Glad to see you are now able to finish it for release. Player-defender scenarios are difficult to pull off, but I thought you did a great job on it!
  16. Thanks Vein! Always use and enjoy your mods, btw.
  17. I can confirm Sailor in that at least two of us are having a bad day.
  18. Steve, total success! Today, in desperation, I changed install procedures (I know, never a good idea to get creative with a game install, lol) by putting the exe, bin and brz files in the root directories of the three games instead of leaving them on the desktop. So I took them out of the roots and installed from the desktop, and all 3 installed just dandy. Thanks a million!
  19. Steve, looks like we crossposted, but yes, about two minutes before I posted that last post I tried the 4.0 key. No joy. Let me try it all again.....I'll let you know how it turns out.
  20. Hi Steve, I just tried this procedure with CMBN (no luck last night trying and re-trying CMBN, CMRT and CMFB). I put in every license key I have for every BN product in the Activate New Product utility--I have every module and pack--and in some cases I'd get the Success notice, then when the game loaded, I got the Red Box of Death. The last attempt was the 4.0 license key, and I didn't even get to the load screen, the activation box just said it was an invalid key. I did start a ticket last night but I assume John or whomever is at the desk is swamped--haven't heard anything yet. I involuntarily installed Windows 10 (don't ask, but I put a price on the CEO's head) a couple of months ago. You mentioned above somewhere that that could be a problem. I did not bother downloading the full installs, btw, just the upgrade because the download times were astronomical, and I assumed I shouldn't need them. Anyhoo, I'm wasting your time here but just wanted to let you know that like wlmiv and jpratt88, I have the same problems with all WWII titles and I have tried every combination of suggestions above so far with no joy. And sorry you guys are having such a headache with this release...no good deed goes unpunished, I guess! P.S. The good news is I am now re-enjoying FI-GL which I haven't played in about a year!
  21. Ohhhh, you never watched Yogi Bear as a kid, did you?
  22. You won't find it by searching for "Picnic Pack", though. It's titled "Pic-a-nic Basket Pack". There was a big internal debate whether it should be spelled "Pic-en-nic", but it was decided that if you say it fast enough, Pic-a-nic was the proper spelling. And Basket was of course a necessary inclusion. Good luck! And at only $5 US, it's a steal! Cheers! Boo Boo
