Mortar direct fire cancels FO mission
mjkerner replied to rocketman's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
Funny, I just noticed the same thing two days ago playing an opponent in a pbem game (CMBN v4). Something new, a bug, or has it always been that way? -

...and Vanir for the win!

Well, as long as it was a toggle option. I can't count the number of times my schreks or bazooka men missed on the first shot, but managed to nail it on the second (if they survived long enough, lol).

Heeeeee's back! How you been doing lately, Phil?

Mounted Halftrack infantry under fire
mjkerner replied to Sedak's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
^^^ Yes, this! -
Yep, Target Light for mortars of the 60mm and 81mm variety fires about 3 rounds per minute. I'm sure someone else has done some testing and has a more accurate number, but 3 seems the average for German and Allied on map medium mortars based on my experience. P.S., while we're at it, don't forget Target Light will stop your 'zook men, 'schrek men, and rifle grenadiers from firing off their explosive ordinance as well.

COURAGE & FORTITUDE - survivors reunion
mjkerner replied to Erwin's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Erwin, use Mad Mike's Campaign/Scenario Decompiler to extract the sceanarios from campaigns. It's been around for several years, in CMMODS now, I believe. I have extracted every scenario from every campaign in every game/module, and will never complete them all, I'm sure. -
Creating or Importing Maps to Quick Battles
mjkerner replied to Grunts's topic in CM Final Blitzkrieg Maps and Mods
Grunts, yes they can be put in QB folder as you discovered, but they have to have an AI plan at least for the "other" side. No AI plan for your computer opponent = no action from that slacker! -
Mark, remember, sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you. Oh, and what was the weather like? Obviously flying weather, but fog/mist whatever could affect it, I suppose. Then too, your groundpounders would have benefitted from the same bad weather. So, again, sometimes you eat the bear....

Complexity? Where to Start???
mjkerner replied to klkitchens's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
CMx2 is this version of the Combat Mission engine, kitch. There was a CMx1 that started it all many years ago. It was scaled a bit differently. CMx2 came out about 2007 with CMSF, a hypothetical modern war set in Syria. Anyway, we can all tell you're already hooked, lol. -
Complexity? Where to Start???
mjkerner replied to klkitchens's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
Oh boy, klkitchens, I can tell by that last post you are going to go ape sh*t over CMx2! Have blast...as most others here have, I've been having one for almost 6 years now. -
Bug with British 2-inch mortar?
mjkerner replied to Bulletpoint's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Thanks akd. I knew the answer couldn't be that easy, lol! -
Bug with British 2-inch mortar?
mjkerner replied to Bulletpoint's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I thought all mortars have the smoke rounds counted in with the HE rounds...if you use up all the HE first, you're simply out of rounds, smoke included. You have to use smoke before you burn through all the rounds available. No? Does that only apply to arty, or am I just misremembering? -
I can highly recommend this scenario just based on the playtesting I did last year. I am itching to see how he has improved it under 4.0. RockinHarry rocks!

I thought it couldn't get any worse!!!
mjkerner replied to joeperez's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Joe, for ****z and giggles, did you look in your CMBN root folder? I didn't have a desktop Activate Icon after the upgrade to v.4, but found it in the C:\... \Documents\Battlefront\Combat Mission Battle for Normandy folder. -
Very poor draw distance after 4.0
mjkerner replied to rocketman's topic in CM Final Blitzkrieg Maps and Mods
rocketman, I don't know if it makes a difference to the draw distance issue, but every time I've uninstalled CMx2 games, I always left the remaining files alone when I reinstalled and everything has always worked fine. -
Yes, but he'll need a periscope, won't he? But seriously, can you move the gun out of the water, or is it trapped like sometimes happens with guns and vehicles in buildings?
-
My answer is a good example of observer bias, lol. Thanks for testing, Venice.
-
...and, no matter how you play it, you should have no smoke grenades (don't recall if the mortars have smoke shells) left over!
-
The Germans use the yellow/white, the Russians use green, US red. I assume it's coded that way in the game regardless of what color you put in your BN or RT mod folders.

The leader's orders take precedent, Vencini. I've never noticed any different behavior, anyway.

Crossposted. I'll still look for it, Aragorn. But won't be able to until tonight...gotta run.
-
Never mind, Aragorn, my memory sux. I was thinking of Kohlenklau's Cholm mods, where he named the winter white smocks and overcoats mod "shawls". Interestingly, I can't find the mod you're looking for either, though. I have it...somewhere. IIRC (which as I have just pointed out, sux) the mod uses the toque/balaclava textures and models from FB. If I do find it, I'll let you know.
-
Going from memory because I'm not at my comp, but I think you're looking for "scarves" uniform mods. I made some of my own mods for Finns in greatcoats and winter camo, and used some of the "scarves" textures/models from FB and the mod you're looking for. I'll check when I get a chance and can Dropbox invite you if I find the one you want, Aragon.
