Chibot Mk IX got a reaction from zmoney in Gran He Precision strikes
in theory, laser guided should be more accurate than GPS. CEP less than 1m to couple m vs CEP >10m. But as you have already mentioned , LGB needs a prefect condition to achieve its high accuracy. Costwise GPS is more favorable

Chibot Mk IX reacted to George MC in RT Unofficial Screenshot Thread
Small armoured group tasked with reccing the main body’s avenue of approach takes a tactical pause in a small unnamed (on their map) Polish village.
A cautious move along the main road and an observation halt is taken - the tank commander cautiously scanning the surrounding terrain for any signs of enemy activity.
Enemy activity is spotted in the next village overlooking a key bridge. An SPW zug, over watched by their armour, make a swift dash cross-country to a small ford to outflank the enemy position.
They cross the ford without incident.

Chibot Mk IX reacted to Codreanu in T-80U and T-80UK thermal imaging questions and discussion.
AFAIK Soviets did not have thermal imagers on any of their production tanks until right after the end of the Cold War. Agava-2 was added to some T-80UMs in the early '90s. This site mentions 1993 for the T-80UM but doesn't give a source: https://en.topwar.ru/139819-teplovizionnye-hroniki-chast-3.html
I see 1992 mentioned also.

yes,
US' PGM are GPS guided
RUS/UKR's PGM are Laser guided so they need FO's LOS (to deploy the laser designator)

Helicopters can be called from anywhere, with fighter bombers you need to have an LOS but not necessarily an LOF.

Chibot Mk IX got a reaction from Artkin in Protecting Against ATGM's
IMHO, these are all good measure to counter ATGM.
First of all, put yourself into the defender's shoe. Study their defense position, ask yourself a question if you are the defender where you want to put your ATGM at? Then ID 3~4 likely ATGM fire position (man ,I hope the future CM can support put a marker on the map!)
If you have enough time, hide the main body behind good cover. Send out infantry, fanout them into good observation post. Then send out one or two APC as a sacrificial lamb, lure the ATGM fire and expose them.
If time is not on your side, use fire and maneuver . The fire section should be put into a good hull down overwatch position. The maneuver section use well planned cover route to move forward. Be liberal on area fire.

Chibot Mk IX reacted to kohlenklau in Stalingrad Scenario released...
Now available in my goody box...Go to the CMRT Aisle and look in the new combined Barbarossa and Stalingrad shelf. It needs the previous [barbarossa] mods and a new folder of NPye's Stalingrad mods [stal] and [snow stal].
STAL RANENYYE ZVERI
(Stalingrad Wounded Beasts)
@NPye @umlaut I have swept the dust off Nigel Pye's Stalingrad mods and some excellent stuff done by umlaut as well. Thank you gentlemen, your creative and talented efforts are going to be utilized in a new scenario, maybe scenarios with an S. Play as Allies vs axis AI. Stalingrad's Central District: Soviet soldiers attempt to knock out an immobilized panzer in the snows of late 1942...
EDIT: A tip of the hat also to @dragonwynn and @kevinkin for the previous campaign and scenarios they did...circa 2016?
2nd EDIT: You should see Soviet troops in greatcoats with some old style rank badges, some new. Some in old style helmets, some in newer style helmets and fur caps. The various German vehicles are NPye's 24th Panzer Division set, "the Leaping Horseman". One with snow as well. His German helmets and some other gear he modded. All the buildings are Nigel's work but I had to mess with the windows and doors to solve some gameplay issues. The map was his but I had to cut it down to smaller size for my purposes and made a few changes to elevation in one or 2 areas.

Chibot Mk IX got a reaction from Bulletpoint in DAR - Snow For The Hungry AXIS PBEM
Sorry to hijack this topic. a recent game made me to re-think long distance engagement. I would add if you put your tank in woods , sometime it is better to keep it buttoned even in a >1000m tank duel.
In CM the armor piercing rounds have remarkable anti-personal effects. I have seen an AP missed my tank but the splash on the ground killed an infantry 30m away from the impact point. Another AP missed it's armored target, hit a tree and kills 3 infantrymen instead. In a long distance engagement , some of the AP will overshoot, hit trees overhead and is likely cause casualty to an unbuttoned TC nearby.

Chibot Mk IX got a reaction from c3k in CM WWII titles first aid/weapon recovery, and smoke grenades
It doesn't look like the total weight plays a role in weapon recovery.
A soviet inf sqd depleted their ammunition sent to first aid a squad of fallen sub-machine gunner , two riflemen provide first aid
they refuse to pick up any SMG , they didn't even bother with to pickup 7.62mm x 25 ammo. Only 8 hand grenade recovered
Here is different story, a German Panzerschreck team provided first aid to a sturm squad. They have total 22 rounds rocket on their back, it's so heavy that they can barely walk. But in the end, they picked up two MP44 plus enough clips
I will do some test in CMSF2/CMBS/CMCW later. But I think in modern title pixeltruppen will refuse to take 7.62mm LMG. Their pickup priority are Javelin , RPG and LAWs
***********************************************
BTW, I would love to see more unauthorized weapon in pixeltruppen's hand. BFC has already given extra BAR to US Inf Sqd and Beretta SMG to Germany sqd in CMFI. Wish one day we will see MP40 carried by regular Soviet infantry squad and PPSh in Germany pixeltruppen's hand

Chibot Mk IX reacted to Artkin in Christmas 2021 Scenario Challenge
The Church Of Klaus:
Extremely rudimentary scenario, should be extremely painful to play. No briefing, two objectives, and a few unit objectives. Played as Soviet vs AI. Requires CMRT with F&R.
Santa refused to deliver gifts this year, the partisans were sent in to investigate the Klaus Haus. Word is that it's lightly defended, but the Toy Factory isn't far away. Good luck and try to enjoy the pain.

Edited to provide more AT assets. I guess soviet infantry don't have AT grenades as standard, and they aren't arbitrarily equipped.

FR Rumble at Reitwein
2304x976
This in an out-take from Fire&Rubble that didn't get time to have tested to standard (though I have done many runs on it in Scenario Author mode, and in my own playtesting).
Meeting Engagement just to the west of Reitwein between Soviet 370 RD and attached armor elements versus elements of Reitwein area Volkssturm, Panther-Battalion "Brandenburg", a KG from the "Kurmark" Division, and attached stragglers from 9th FJ Division.
The scenario is fictional, but is derived from actions and forces in the area in attempting to enlarge/reduce the Soviet bridgehead over the Oder.
Play as either side. 1 plan for Axis, 2 for Soviet side. May also be suitable for HTH.

Chibot Mk IX reacted to Monty's Mighty Moustache in DAR - Snow For The Hungry AXIS PBEM
The problem with that @Erwin is that while you may be behind me in time you may have seen more of the enemy forces than me so when you post updates you may be spoiling things for others (I am purposefully not reading your updates just in case).
This DAR is up to date, I know exactly as much as I’ve written about on here so if I haven’t mentioned it then I don’t know about it. I’d prefer there only be one DAR/AAR on the go at once tbh but if you are going to continue be aware that anything you write about stuff I have not yet revealed is likely to spoil it for those reading along, hence why they are getting annoyed. Perhaps it would be best to start your own?

Chibot Mk IX reacted to Erwin in DAR - Snow For The Hungry AXIS PBEM
Am glad this is one place where folks discuss tactics and strategy... It is fascinating to see how other players see the situation and make their plans and then see how they do.
This is a wonderful DAR. It's motivating me to start a SFTH game vs the AI.
Re the German strategy, I will probably focus everything on the town and only have recon forces probe elsewhere along with some AT assets to guard the flanks while the town assault is implemented.
Only after the town is safely occupied will substantial assault forces be allocated towards other objectives.
My experience (in CM) is that focusing everything on one attack at a time is (usually) the key to winning (in CM games). Attempting multiple attacks is (usually) not a good idea as it enables the oppo to focus on one's weaknesses.

Thank you both. It is a lot of work but I've got my workflow down now so it doesn't take as long as it did at the start. The planning write-up took me forever as I had to refresh my memory with GIMP and usually I don't write down my analysis other than to draw a sketch and put some arrows on it so it was all from memory. Might be fun to take a picture of my sketch and post it at some point.
I'm trying to convey the mystery with lots of over the shoulder views at eye-level so you feel like you're in amongst it. Glad to know that it's somewhat successful.
I've got two more turns to write up so I'l try and get that done tonight.

I don't care if I lose the current scenario, I got a kill against a T64 from the front WITH A DRAGON!
I had a flank shot ambush all planned out but the pesky tank had plans of their own, which I ruined!
