  1. That is so funny. Probably because there is an element of truth to it.
  2. Kieme CMBS additional flavor objects. In May of 2015 I got them from @Kieme(ITA). I tagged him in this post so maybe he will stop by and provide the link to the mod again. If I recall he may even have a thread with links to his mods. I will look for it.
  3. I learned a similar lesson the hard way in a tournament at The Few Good Men. I had on map mortars and thought (assumed) they should have C2 at their location. Made contact with the OpFor and tried to request mortar support. They could not fire. It took several turns to get them in the fight. After this incident I updated my SOP during Setup to check on map mortars for C2 before hitting the big red button. I click on various HQ & FO teams to see if they can call all the support assets. If there is a problem it can be fixed while still in the Setup phase. What did the support panel read when the FO team was trying to contact the mortars? Denied, Out of contact, No line of fire etc... Also what did the C2 panel of the mortars show? Close visual, voice etc..
  4. Very cool example. Thanks for taking the time to share this. Someday I will have to re-do this thread to fix all the damage caused by Photobucket. If you have a save of that turn it would be interesting to try it with both vehicles buttoned as suggested by @Bulletpoint. This kind of info is always interesting especially with practical examples like this.
  5. When using this mod is it better to select digital camo or standard at the bottom left of the quick battle purchase screen? I thought I had it figured out to be standard however when I opened a test map in the scenario editor I had to change the choice to digital to get the separatist look to appear. What does everyone else use?
  6. Yes five out of nine have thermals (TWS). Some of the TWS equipment is listed in the UI. The Thermal Weapons Sight (TWS) is listed for the three M4s that have it. The M249 PIP has thermals according to the CMBS game manual page 87 and when a two man M249 PIP special team was tested they were able to spot through the smoke. However for the M249 PIP there is nothing in the UI that indicates it has thermals.
  7. Cool, thanks. The more info the better.
  8. I did some experiments on selected US fire teams to determine if they were able to spot through artillery generated smoke screens. In hot seat mode I had the OpFor fire a sustained heavy linear smoke mission from multiple batteries. I placed Russian infantry and one BMP on one side of the smoke and the US teams to be tested on the other side with approximately 500 meters separating them. The first to be tested was a nine man US rifle squad. Five of the soldiers in the squad have the ability to spot OpFor through the smoke screen. The squad leader, assistant squad leader, a rifleman and the two M249 PIP gunners. If a Javelin was Acquired then six out of the nine soldiers have the ability to see OpFor through the smoke. Out of the five US sniper teams only the M107A1 50 Cal. Sniper could spot through the smoke. A breach team from special teams was not able to spot through the smoke. The platoon fire support team could not spot through the smoke unless they Acquired a Javelin Command Launch Unit (CLU). The company fire support team was able to spot through the smoke screen since they had a laser designator (apparently with thermals) in their special equipment.
  9. It might be fun to re-fight some WWII battles with modern equipment. The conversion was the work of @sbobovyc and @DougPhresh.
  10. I just clicked on the link for the map that @DougPhresh provided. Then put it in my QB maps folder for CMBS. I read in one of these threads that renaming the QB map file might help. I don't have Python. I am on a PC with Windows 10.
  11. For anyone who missed the original post check out the below link. Pretty cool. Thanks @sbobovyc Ukrainian troops patrolling in an Italian village.
  12. This is pretty neat. When I first opened a quick battle with this CMFI map in CMBS it was very slow and clunky moving around on the map. I was afraid it wasn't going to work. Then I restarted the QB and it is working fine. Not sure what caused the initial problem. Below are some screenshots. Ukrainian troops patrolling in an Italian village. (I don't know why they are there but it looks cool.)
  13. My guess would be @JonS or @Combatintman. If it wasn't them they will probably, at least, know about it.
  14. Thanks for posting this. It helps to understand the game mechanics when you're trying to get a desired result. I wonder if this would cause the vehicle to stop to early if you're trying to get hulldown to something lower than a vehicle, like infantry?
  15. You're right. I just found it in the CMBS game manual page 86. The HWTS. The manual also states it is for night operations. Just night vision in the special equipment box in the UI. I guess the only way to see if the game mechanics allow it to work in the daylight is to test it.......................
  16. Yes, I remember this post. I think it was made by @TheForwardObserver. This is an interesting tactic. I just thought an FO in the game would have his own TWS so would not need to grab a launcher to use.
  17. This appears to be the case, as long as the soldier with the TWS stays alive, for US fire teams. The platoon leader also has TWS. I was a little disappointed to see that forward observers and snipers (I checked all five US sniper teams) did not have TWS.
  18. I think narrow Target Arcs may give a speed advantage. The turret is already turned and almost on target. Especially if the Target Arc order was given the waypoint prior to the shoot waypoint. The friendly crew does not spot the OpFor vehicle any faster but the turret turning/adjustment time is probably reduced.
  19. I often make several saves during a big setup. Below is my method that I learned from @IanL. Click on Menu / Click Save / When the file name appears add _save. Example: MOSvsaxxe 004 change it to MOSvsaxxe 004_save. Click OK on the file name window. You can quit the game now if you want and come back to it later. When you want to send click the big red button and then back space over: _save This will leave the original MOSvsaxxe 004 Then click OK.
  20. @SLIM Cool special video. Someday, maybe over the winter, when I have more time I will have to play a scenario with modern (CMSF) Germans.
