I'd imagine a patch applied to the arm of a uniform texture would need to be very small indeed. No matter what the original resolution, the patch would have to fit into an area perhaps 50x25 pixel or smaller (if your uniform art is standard 1024x1024 dimensions). It might work better to located the smallest decent pict of a subdued union jack patch you can find. Then when you scale it to fit the shoulder it doesn't have to scale down too far.

If you press spacebar in the force selector, you can see what formations/units etc come with each module.

This is CMBN, but it works the same in CMSF2:

What do you mean by inadequate resolution? Too pixelated?
If you are using photoshop, just load the image, then copy and paste it on your document. Then resize it with control T. If you hold down the shift key while resizing it, it will keep the same proportions or you can click on the dialogue box at the top of the screen and enter a value there. The only way you can mess up is if you shrink it then enlarge it several times, you will lose details unless you turn it into a smart object first.

Yes, we are still working on it. The shade should be more towards yellow than red. It needs a few more adjustments as well.

As for the vehicles cammo, only now we are seeing pictures of German vehicles painted in desert cammo. Most of the images of German vehicles are of them in green with loads of sand in them. I imagine in a war in Syria they would not have time to paint them. The Marines, in the game now, have their vehicles in green commo, for instance.

However nothing is 100% sure at this point.

Either way, one of the first things that get modded are the skins, and we do have very talented texture artists in the community. I bet you will see the desert cammo available in day one!

Regarding the modding community we plan to release the template, and layered files, of the textures of all vehicles with the module. This would save modders a lot of time, since most skins have loads of sand and dirt in them, which is usually a nightmare to get rid of.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry, guys, can't be done. I've explained it numerous times so I'll just cut and paste what I said last time.
"Textures, yes, depending on how different the models are. Model swaps absolutely can't be done. I spent a good four hours or so the other day dicking around in the hex editor eyeing up the Syrian mds files. Charles locked them down hard. @Blimey reported this waaaay back when BS came out but I wanted to see what was what for myself. The Brain some how tied ALL the Syrian soldiers into a single set of mdses. ALL their codes point to lines entitled "placeholder uniform" "place holder skin" place holder boots".  The old mdses had a set for each soldier type and their code would point to something like "syrian reserve soldier" "syrian reserve uniform" etc. In effect there is no way to trick the mdses because every single file, no matter what it is, says "placeholder uniform" etc. The only reason Mikey pulled off that weapon swap was because the weapons files hadn't been screwed with."
"Not necessarily. There are a few exceptions, like weapons and flavor objects. but you can't take Muj from CMA and get them into SF2 if that's what you're hoping for. There's no way. Read my quote of myself above, it'll explain it. I am not exactly sure what was needed to be done with the beret but whatever it was it won't work with cross game models like soldiers. I'd love to be wrong. But I don't see how it could be done without completely hacking the code. But ANYONE is welcome to prove me wrong! I'd be thrilled if they did. BUT whatever they did it wouldn't be the old way of hex editing. Anyway, I'd kill to get the MUJ to take the place of the Uncons."
"No need to apologize. I thought you might be going in that direction but then the head gear would have to be for the Special Forces because then EVERY body else (Mech, Reserves, Guards, Airborne) would be wearing it. It's a complete conundrum. It wouldn't work with the Uncons because they don't have any helmets. It's a Gordian knot and we can't cut it as far as I can see.
The key to all of this is locked up in those mdses somewhere.
EDITED: Or come to think of it maybe not. I think they rewrote it so that you don't need separate models for separate textures."

As head gear goes you can have troops either wearing a helmet, not wearing a helmet, or wearing a helmet and no helmet mixed. But you can't have a helmet and a beret in the same formation.
And I don't even have the Muj files that Blimey made for SF1. I don't know why. I thought I'd saved them. You wanna talk about hex magic those were hex magic. What a confusing bunch of models they were. Anyway they wouldn't work with SF 2.

A question for Steve, a bit off topic but still upgrade related. At this point in time is CM2 Windows going to remain a 32-bit program?
I made a really large map/scenario with the idea of mimicking old CM campaigns over the length of a 4 hour battle. Everything was testing well until our Win32 versions started getting oom errors as reinforcement forces were added to the survivors of the previous skirmish. My theory is 64-bit would solve the oom issue and allow for larger battles.
This doesn't mean I am not still in awe of what CM accomplishes. After all these years that's a pretty good endorsement, IMHO. Thanks for the countless hours of enjoyment.

Here it is folks.. the time has arrived for the CMSF2 BETA AAR.  I will be adding to this thread later today,, but wanted to get the thread started.
My opponent?  My nemesis from the CMFB  BETA AAR, Baneman ,agreed to a rematch.  I really do owe him a more thoughtful game than I gave him the last time.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with that game, Baneman beat me rather soundly.  Hope that doesn't happen again!
This game is well under way, we have completed 16 minutes of action, so there are a lot of turns to come in relatively quick succession and the Blood Board™ is filling rather alarmingly.
For those of you who were following my "Lesson in Defense" AAR in the CMBN forum.. sorry about not updating that thread for a while, but I can really only do one of these at a time, and this one takes priority.,  Once I started this game it took up my full attention.
    More anon.  Bil

All right lads. Now there´s longer any excuse for not making scenarios with my Factory Mod set. As promised long ago I´ve made a guide on how to use the mods. It seems that it turned out to be in the shape of a video.

Perhaps I went a bit overboard in the process, as it did end up being 10 minutes long. If you want to skip the background part, the how-to part starts at 4:43

Hopefully, this tutorial will tell you most of what you need to know. If not, that is what this thread (and perhaps future videos) is for.

Maybe I can shed some light on it after having played around with SF2 uncons a bit more. This is probably already well known and I might be stating the obvious here . But no one has mentioned it so far in this thread so it might be useful for the original poster.
Okay so uncons combatants in SF2 have their skins split in two parts : the body and the head/keffiyeh. If you have the same number of bodies and keffiyehs, the game will always assign the same headpiece to the corresponding body texture. For instance, keffiyeh 1 will always go on body 1, keffiyeh 2 on body 2 and so on. But if you have more keffiyehs than there are bodies, it will be randomized each time, for each model.
I am guessing the same principle applies to ammo pouches, boots etc.
So here you go, you simply need a different number of textures for the uniform and the accessories, for lack of a better word. And the game will do the rest.
