New Scenario: Tactical Operations Center
Sgt.Squarehead replied to MOS:96B2P's topic in CM Black Sea Maps and Mods
I have just completed the single finest hour of CM:BS (game time) that I have ever played.....I have never had so much fun with this title. The Russian separatists on the other hand.....Not so much! @MOS:96B2P You really are a genius. -

I can easily put the lot back up at Dropbox with a public link here.....Work of moments mate. Are we done quibbling now BTW, cooperation is usually much more efficient.

@Erwin's the man! But if you can't get them from him easily, ping me a PM and I'll send you a link (I just took them all down from Dropbox typically enough, but putting them back up doesn't take terribly long).....I now have the four I was missing BTW.

Ah.....A scale issue for me I guess. -

This is a prime example of why one should post clear thread titles (with tags if the post is important).....How the **** did you find that? -

I hate it when they do that! The degree of precision that CM demands of the player is a big part of what makes it such a remarkable game in my opinion. That'll be the battery commander no doubt.....If it is, and he's unbuttoned, a couple of light mortar rounds might be well spent in an attempt to bugger up the morale of his two minions out front. I know this battle already happened, just saying..... -
Russian army under equipped?
Sgt.Squarehead replied to lordhedgwich's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
I dunno, successfully bogging it at the first attempt, then un-ditching it in around a minute (without using anything other than manpower from the CEV) looks like a damned good sales tactic to me.....'"Try not to do this, but just in case you do.....". -

There's a way to see them in game, but IIRC that doesn't show up in either setup or end-screen maybe both.....IIRC (vaguely) it's a little tab, maybe like a '+' sign in the panel somewhere, available in the order turn. -

Fairly sure this has been covered somewhere.....Damned if I can find it though, sorry. -
Don't worry mate, it was just a flash in the pan. BTW - @LongLeftFlank How do you think events in Ramadi might transpire against the backdrop of the BF Syria storyline? I'm thinking along the lines of a similar uprising, but with the US largely focussed on wrapping up in Syria and setting their sights on Iran, only local and Coalition troops would be available to bolster the resistance (The question of 'What happened to the Russian base in Syria?' looms large here IMHO).

Not really fella, it keeps me outta trouble, plus it's all good practice. I'll do the two standalones for CM:SF: 'Ashsh al-Dababir' (The Hornets' Nest) 'Al Hutumah' (The Crusher) Then I'll take what I've learned (and probably the maps too) and see if I can string them into something better in CM:SF II, I've got to give campaign scripts a proper shakedown at some point, a simple three to five part 'Push to the Tigris' might be a good option. BTW - The third scenario of 'Abdul Gul's War' is almost the scenario you tested for me, way back when, but from the other side and with a twist.....I'll get it right eventually, you can test it when I do, if you want. PS - It's just occurred to me that these scenarios may not be technically possible in CM:SF II due to probable issues with the Core, I've got a nasty feeling that instead of Humvees & (Nyalas pretending to be) MRAPs, CTS would get a variety of interesting supply dumps.

Didn't the Kuwaitis have them at the time of the first Iraq war? We REALLY NEED at least one CM title set between WWII & WWIII. -

At the moment I'm testing Mosul Pt.2 for myself in CM:SF and the same thing that you are for @MOS:96B2P in CM:BS, for CM:A the only thing that I'm actively working on right now is the big map with the river valley. I got really stuck with the third mission for Abdul Gul's War.....He's up to three understrength Mujahideen platoons by this stage and is negotiating to buy some recoilless rifles with the money from the bank robbery. I want to set up a straight(ish) fight to contrast with all the sneaking around from the first two, but his force is still pretty fragile, my last attempt was too complex, the one before too unwieldy, I'll get it right eventually, or I won't.

I've been looking forward to seeing another episode.....Cheers Bud. Any chance you could give me some tips on how you achieve this remarkable look? I'd like to try a similar comic-book style for the artwork in my CM:A Blue Campaign ('Abdul Gul's War'), to date my own efforts have looked pretty poor by comparison. -

Bovington Tank Museum's Pz.IV is a hybrid on par with the StuG above, it's one of the rebuilds (IIRC assigned to 21Pz. in Normandy): Coincidentally I believe this one's an Ausf D rebuilt with bits from a late(ish) Ausf G again. Their 'Porsche' Kingtiger is odd too: It was formerly used for training, so it appears never to have received zimmeritt and it lacks the guard collar around the turret ring that minimises the shot trap caused by the overhang (& Dr. Porsche being an ego-maniac). Decent (modelling) thread on Bovvy's example, here: http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=165449&page=1&ord=1 -

An Ausf C or D (there's no external differences) rebuilt with a long 75mm in a mid-late (no MG) saukopf mantlet from an Ausf G. It may have some mods to the engine deck too. Here's one for the Sherman experten: Is this a picture of the borderline mythical (only 100 built, most were used as DDs) M4A1 Big Hatch 75mm with dry stowage? Or is it a hybrid? It's definitely not an ex-DD tank and that's for sure. In part it compensates for the rather thin armour under the sponsons.....Bugger if you run over a mine though. -

This is the kind of thing I like.....A StuG with an identity crisis: You ain't gonna build that one 'out of the box'!
