  1. Looks like a Cromwell or maybe a Centaur. Don't really get the meme though.
  2. TBH fella the precise mechanics of it all are a bit beyond me. I'd assume they would fire the EFP as a slug, perhaps with the intent to deflect or deform the KE penetrator, but an assumption is all it is.
  3. Here's my previous comment: Looks like the whole conversation stopped about there.
  4. I'll concede that on investigation I'm not finding evidence supporting the 'mild steel' claim.....Still researching. EDIT: I reckon I may have to eat my words on this one, it seems the 'Assad Babil' is largely fictional.....The kits supplied appear to have been rather sub-par, but it also appears that Iraq was utterly incapable of building these tanks on their own, regardless what steel they used.
  5. The 'Drozd' APS works with the T-55AD & T-62D in CM:A too, but sadly it's not represented in the same way as the newer titles, so it's not as obvious. It's been suggested that the new 'Afghanit' APS has a capability against KE penetrators, while I'm not fully convinced of this, it is possible as Afghanit utilises an EFP/MEFP to intercept incoming projectiles rather than a cloud of shrapnel.
  6. I thought I might have sent one when I played the battle I described, but I don't honestly recall.....However I am now actively looking for this behaviour and I play a lot of urban combat, so when I see it again I will definitely send one.
  7. I Believe the correct designation is T-84 Oplot.....That's as Oplotty as anything the Ukrainians have, all the others are in Thailand. PS - The only T-80 equipped with Shtora by default is the T-80UK command vehicle, it's been suggested that the T-80UA was fitted with the system, but I've found no actual evidence of that so far: T-80UK
  8. From what I can make out those five represent the entirety of the Ukraine's currently serviceable Oplot force.....I believe approximately five more are floating around in their inventory, but AFAIK they are not serviceable at present.
  9. Should one also consider the effects of unconsumed propellant (that big 'invisible' fireball).....I'd imagine it's kind of toasty within a certain radius of that muzzle, if only for moment.
  10. They now have.....Five: Fully upgraded and ready for intense action in.....European tank trials.
  11. @Michael Emrys is right.....Something weird goes on when units change level in a building. I've had this happen several times when units with Hide and or short Target Arcs have transitioned between levels.....It usually happens just as the unit changes from the prone Hide stance to the Hunt like movement between the floors (I've posted about it elsewhere, IIRC in the splendid map of Worcester that someone made, the phenomenon caused me some major grief in the 'Battle of Henwick Road').
  12. As has been mentioned elsewhere, it doesn't take an enormous amount of damage to significantly reduce the effectiveness of HEAT rounds, a single 5mm hole in the liner IIRC reduced the effectiveness of a 90mm charge by about 60%.....So chucking a cloud of shrapnel into the flight path is a viable option against these rounds. Against a KE penetrator.....Not so much.
  13. Incorrect, you seem to forget that Iraq was under a massive sanctions regime, they simply could not import components, so they either ignored them or made their own.
  14. The world is sometimes a very strange place.....Just had my own 'Sgt.Reed' moment, literally while reading this. Sadly I can't post it, but I believe @MOS:96B2P may have seen it.....This game can sometimes do remarkable things, it really can.
  15. Maybe you are thinking of 'Hide'.....This stops a unit from firing, but it also messes with their spotting.
  16. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....Sgt. Reed is down! I proudly nominate him for the Pixel-Heart.
  17. Reckon they should be suppressed for a turn or two.....At the least.
  18. Some were, some weren't to be fair.....But I'd be inclined to bet that if a Bradley was penetrating them from the front with the Bushmaster it was probably the locally made 'mild-steel' version. If they used the TOW then I wouldn't argue at all.
  19. It's not like any game against the AI that I've played before.....It boggles my mind to think how long @MOS:96B2P spent working up the basic idea alone and as you know I spend more time in the editor (as a rule, but not right now) than I do playing the games. 'Different' & 'Brilliant'.....Those are two good words for this thread.
  20. I have no doubt you will be very, very impressed.....Plus it's an absolute hoot! I've got to the point of having nicknames for some of my units, notably, 'The BTR of Doom!' and places/things, such as 'The Precious', otherwise known as the Powerplant.
  21. Yeah, that's the V4 prototype (says it on the front).
