  1. The 'panzer-wrecks' books are filled with images of what happens when a Marder type tank destroyer gets into a duel with an actual tank. I'd class the StuG slightly differently.....IMHO it was an effective assault-gun that, by dint of necessity, became an adequate 'Jagdpanzer' (as opposed to Panzerjager). I could easily see that thing lying on its side if it tried to engage a target outside a front (or rear) arc of about 450.
  2. Cheers.....I'm thoroughly enjoying it (so I can get a bit carried away), but damn, it really does require your full attention at all times (you'll see what I mean in the PM just sent).
  3. Have you played this Ian? It is intricate & detailed in a way that is utterly unique, it requires a level of attention unlike any other scenario.....If a player goes into this without understanding exactly what they are doing, they will find themselves in a world of hurt. I've been putting a lot of effort into testing this (to destruction in a couple of instances), I hope my input has been of use to @MOS:96B2P, but if it has not, perhaps you might permit him to speak for himself? I think he knows me well enough by now to appreciate that I won't take offence if he tells me to STFU.
  4. How you use a unit makes big difference too.....Try having your sharp shooter use different combinations of movement orders to position himself and then reposition after shooting. Sometimes you just have to accept that he will be seen, so taking the shot followed by a 'Quick' move might get him out of trouble best, on other occasions 'Slow' moving from position to position without ever losing concealment might be possible, @Erwin produced a masterful display of the latter technique back in the very early days of testing for me. As I should have said in the first place, experiment & practice.....Also as the lads suggest, 'the only dumb question is the one you didn't ask', but you do need to frame your questions fairly precisely to get specific answers. I'd second the recommendation to use the editor, you'll learn a lot more about the game mechanics in there than you will in the manual.
  5. This is a great site for all things Armoured Car: http://www.warwheels.net/ Not very.....The PAK overloaded the suspension and it wasn't very well armoured, facing anything more potent than small arms, it was in trouble. This was a weapon of borderline-desperation, like the Sd.Kfz.251/22: Or the RSO PAK-40: It went downhill from there.
  6. What.....Humphrey Bogart? Probably gonna need a ouija board for that!
  7. The only thing I can suggest is practice, practice, practice!
  8. What are you actually trying to tell us? Weapon technology advanced over the course of 40 years? Shocker! PS - The T-72s story is BS too, they were locally made copies with mild steel armour.
  9. That's definitely the 'go-to' site for Sturmis. Thought I had pictures of mine (1/72), but apparently PB ate them.
  10. The scenario creator may sometimes have left 'legacy' plans in HTH battles if he used a stock map to create the scenario without deleting the originals.
  11. We seem to have got a long way from Strykers vs. Bradleys.....So I tested it. The Bradley won.
  12. They're some sneaky b******s they really are! Hope we're all cool on the tyres thing, it really is something the player needs to be fully aware of.....While this is a HUGE scenario, the individual actions are quite small, platoon sized or less (some nutters allegedly do them with squads) and thus micro-management is essential, for all active units (keep an eye on the passive ones too), at all times. PS - Did I mention that micro-management is essential, for all active units, at all times.....If not I should have. PPS - I'd love to see someone try this in Real Time Mode!
  13. Not a bug, a feature.....Gravity modelling FOC & gratis. Seriously man, this is a 'nothing-burger'.....Personally I find the massive hole in the roof (and the fact that I can't select 2nd Floor with a move command anymore) is more than adequate indication that the building is damaged.
  14. Cheers dude.....Still getting my head around all this.
  15. I vaguely recall a similar anecdote from (IIRC) Vienna in WWII, a bunch of Soviet troops decided to watch ISU-152s sorting out dug in defenders and took quite a few casualties from flying debris etc. in the process. You can see what a 125mm does here (at 1:39): That's actually the second time (it also fires at 1:23), but the dumbass filming it is looking straight down the muzzle this time!
  16. @MOS:96B2P Did you find out if the [Sepa] mod tag works by default?
  17. I hope somebody does bring this one forward to CM:SF II.....Tagged Mods do seem to be the way forward for these radically different settings, it effectively allows the player to have several different CM games on a single install.
  18. 'Soil Shear Strengths' you say.....I was just going to ask about those.
  19. It's a shame @General Jack Ripper has deleted the video of his CM:SF match against @IICptMillerII.
  20. Since you've brought this up I've noticed the old mantlet in quite a few images (one does once one starts looking) Looking through images in a couple of texts now (from the Armour At War range), it seems almost 50% of the British Shermans pictured (at least up until the time of the breakout) still had the early narrow mantlet. While almost all of them seem to have the sponson & turret cheek applique, almost none of them have applique over the driver & radio operator's hatch bulges. Nice spot JK (& family).....Have another.
  21. That's a bit tenuous JK, she'd have been 65 at the time America entered the war.....But +1 for giving it a shot (asking on Missing Lynx might do it), and just because.
  22. So do I, every bloody day.....So TBH I don't much appreciate being lectured at over what I do for fun.
