  1. The fighting there hasn't been at all easy:
  2. Finally tracked down (purely by chance TBH) the document detailing the effect of damage on shaped charges: http://xrayct.com/documents/data/IBS19/WM07_599.pdf @HerrTom I believe you were interested in this?
  3. Only 301 were delivered and these mostly operated on the Southern front, so I wouldn't see them as a priority for BF unless they suddenly decide to do Kursk (which would be awesome IMHO, I'd happily buy a Kursk pack).
  4. So it seems the Russians cooperated with the NATO assault in the BF storyline.
  5. Good lord fella, don't be daft.....Appreciate the insights you offer, but the real world has to come first (I know just what you mean about things suddenly all jumping on you at once too).
  6. So, the ultra-rare Drozd APS.....Turns up at random in Azerbaijan: http://gurkhan.blogspot.co.uk/2018/04/5455.html#more
  7. You can't do AVREs without including the granddaddy:
  8. I am genuinely intrigued to see what happens here. Something like an unexpected engineer platoon camped out in those farm buildings in reserve could ruin your whole day, but if it's all teams & ammo bearers you might be in.....Then it's a StuG hunt!
  9. Noted in my CM:SF II 'Tips & Tactics' jotter. PS - A couple of first hand anecdotes on the subject of muzzle blast in this thread: http://sturgeonshouse.ipbhost.com/topic/97-afv-coax-thread/?page=3
  10. Here's the sum total of that article's commentary on the subject:
  11. Trying to figure out what the running gear on the pseudo-Pz.IIIs is.....BMD with holes drilled in the roadwheels maybe? They should have rented this:
  12. Thanks for the clarification, I vaguely recall seeing something along the lines you describe (the surname Helm rings a bell). Do you happen know any more about the VLS mounted soft-kill systems on the T-14's turret roof.....Surely those have to be designed to defeat top attack weapons such as Spike or Javelin, but how might they go about it?
  13. @panzersaurkrautwerfer Great post, thanks for bringing a clear perspective to the issue.
  14. So all the other people who are scenario designing, map making, playing and testing the game right now are wrong and you are right? I'm beginning to wonder if you are a loony TBH?
  15. Rubbish.....There are plenty of workarounds to fix the issue and allow testing to proceed. If the balance of a scenario is affected by a later patch, an able scenario designer should have no difficulty whatsoever rebalancing it.....It would not be the first time it's happened after all. How in god's name would v4's issues affect map making?
  16. Yeah, TBH that one seems to have been a technology demonstrator aimed at export customers, along the same lines as the T-90MS.....Many of the technologies it exhibits can be seen in one form or another on more recent designs. Both of those Syrian designs apparently seem to have some merit on the battlefield (but there are plenty of others that don't), I believe they are both 'mass produced' (by Syrian Civil War standards).
  17. Amen to that fella, with a few exceptions, T-80 identification is a doddle compared to T-72 identification.....Even before the locals start messing with them: T-72 Adra: T-72 'Gillette': And let's not even get started on the T-55s!
  18. The easy way to identify the diesel engine T-80UD (as opposed to gas-turbine T-80U, T-80UE & T-80UA) is the absence of the whopping great air filter on the back of the turret. This model of the T-80U shows the filter clearly: Whereas on the T-80UD it is absent: Not for the time being fella.....At present older T-80BVs are being refurbished, a number of them will then be upgraded to the T-80BVM standard:
  19. Are these the same T-72s that can be penetrated frontally by a 25mm autocannon?
  20. Definitely a gutsy move Bil. If your opponent is overconfident in the abilities of his armour you may have him on the ropes here.....It doesn't look like he can easily redeploy his infantry without another truck-ride.
  21. More on the Oplot thing.....It seems they actually have.....Wait for it.....Six! All reconditioned for Tank Trials.....The others were allegedly sold to the US (condition unknown to me). The various unserviceable chassis I referred to above all appear to have been reconditioned and are included in this total.
  22. That's Parola Tank Museum in Finland (I recognize the sheds).....It's where most of the Sturmis in JK's recent thread live: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Parola-Tank-Museum/110833218968636?nr https://www.facebook.com/Panssarimuseo/?rf=110833218968636 Their site seems to be down at the moment.....You'll find the T-28 rescuing the Leopard in the second link above.
