Shock Force 2 Unofficial Screenshot And Video Thread
Sgt.Squarehead replied to Mord's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 2
The real bad MoFo. Very Red Army (Battalion attack?).....Kind of reminds me of my CM:A 'Fragmentistan' stuff, but without the Hinds! -
UKR BTR 4E firing ATGMs into hedges on Area Fire
Sgt.Squarehead replied to Kinophile's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
& that's how it got the name 'BTR Of Doom!' when I was playtesting TOC for @MOS:96B2P.....Those things are homicidal maniacs! PS - Target briefly, always target briefly.....& even then it usually gets a few extra shots in before its done. -
Artillery or air-power no doubt accounted for them quite promptly after they revealed themselves.....Appreciate the insights @Splinty.

I'd imagine things might have been done rather differently were there a significant risk of coming under heavy artillery/MRL fire.

Wahhabism didn't really get a firm grip in Afghanistan until the advent of 'The Deal' (whereby Saudi Arabia would match the financial contributions of the US/UK dollar for dollar, all channelled through Pakistan's ISI).....The ideology came with the cash (& the madrassas etc.), Pakistan has been similarly, if less profoundly, affected. -

I still need to finish that map! TBH working on it while looking at a black screen would have been tricky. -
Not at present, you'd need something like 'Reinforcement by Trigger' and that could potentially be gamed by ch33ty players. TBH I'd imagine it would be tricky to implement this with certainty.

I should probably add (in fairness) that attempting to introduce Soviet 'communism' into Afghanistan was equally catastrophic (as the Soviets fully realised at the time ironically, they actually wanted no part of it but were dragged in by the sheer brutal incompetence of the Afghan 'communists').....However the consequences of the west's response to the eventual Soviet invasion have been far reaching and calamitous beyond imagination and sadly it's not over yet. Collectively we turned the Islamic world into a ticking bomb and now we are struggling to defuse it. PS - I'm sure there's a couple of (potentially slightly gloomy) CM campaigns in all of this somewhere! -

That (I'm guessing you meant Taliban rather than Al Qaeda) came a long, long time later.....The influence of the 'developed world' on Afghanistan turned rather corrosive at the end of the seventies, sadly it has to be concluded that their current benighted state has far more to do with us than with them. Afghanistan was the worst place in the world that one could introduce Islamic fundamentalism, but that is exactly what we did. Once it had a foothold and the Jihadi networks were established the situation just got progressively worse.....Keep in mind that there were (AFAIK) no suicide bombings against the Soviets in Afghanistan, that too came later. -

CMSF2 Demos Released!

Try good old .50cal.....A couple of minutes worth from those fellas shouldn't be enough to demolish the place, but they should still turn the bad guys into gritty stains. -
What he said. On the other hand it would be nice (for the bad guys) if the ZSU-23-2 Technical could reload from a dump (Made by dismounting the same vehicle?).....Can this be done?

Very informative thread, cheers @domfluff.....Every day's a school day as we have all come to learn on our journeys with this game engine.

Oleksandr's Modding Space for CMSF2

Yup, but I don't believe it has any AI plans, so it won't function as a QB map vs. the AI. -

I converted it for use as the fictional gulf kingdom of 'Al Durkali', added an oil well out in the desert and a few other bits & bobs.....Naturally the Uncon forces are led by the renowned 'Mohammed Jihad'. -
Autocannon / Javelin Stryker?
Sgt.Squarehead replied to exsonic01's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
I'd love to see a vehicle pack for this game, including a few 'future' types (we do already have the Oplot, T-90AM & Abrams APS after all).....Flexibility is what makes these games so special, let's face it, how many of us only play 'official BF storyline scenarios'? I'd guess that would be just about nobody. -
