  1. That's a great shot @HerrTom. Pretty sure that's the map that I had started to convert for my 'Ottoman Dawn' concept (from NATO campaign).....Intrigued to see what the new game's done with the buildings, it was a nightmare of internal windows and non-routable doors in the original. Guess I should probably install it. EDIT - Done.....Damn that was easy! Bravo to Steve & Co. (Is there an '& Co.' at the moment?) for streamlining the process.....Still had to create my own activation shortcut though, that has never ever worked for me without making my own.
  2. The issue is particularly irritating with wheeled APCs (Stryker/BTR etc.) in CM:BS.....Tyre damage was a major impediment to routing in the earliest iterations of @MOS:96B2P's TOC scenario. It' a good idea, I just think it's a bit 'strong' in game, or perhaps the chance of damage is too high?
  3. Sorted.....It went to the linked PayPal e-mail address, rather than the account e-mail address.
  4. I haven't received the confirmation e-mail either.....Wondering if there might be an issue?
  5. Hardly fawning admiration, I just have massive respect for any nation that can take 25-30 million casualties and still kick the living **** out of their aggressor. You really wanna take those guys on?
  6. They do that in CM:SF and CM:A already.....Ask me how I know! Order's still processing.....Getting impatient now!
  7. Just waiting for the transaction to complete.....So excited to get into the editor and see what I can get up to! Hats off to the BfC crew.....Xmas will be fun after all!
  8. Hmmmm.....TBH I didn't really need to make the 'Shouldn't have gone in' comment, but as this idiotic never-ending conflict has cost the lives of people close to me, I'm not terribly sorry that I said it either TBH. This by the way is exactly why I won't succumb to US/Ukrainian propaganda on Russia.....If the US drags the UK into a war with those guys there will be no Britain (or America, or Russia for that matter). Yes, I'm British, Bolshy and proud of it too! If that's all cleared up, we can get back to the news: https://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2018/12/taliban-shadow-governor-for-helmand-killed-in-airstrike.php
  9. Looking good. You've certainly jumped in at the deep end with an urban map, it has a few unique challenges of its own.....I've got into the habit of locking elevations on clusters of buildings (& some adjacent tiles) to ensure that doorways between modular sections remain functional. It can take a while to find the correct solution for a given area and as @Combatintman has pointed out, you will usually have to compromise to a greater or lesser extent in order to get the optimum blend of playability & appearance.
  10. Truth to be told, you should never have gone in.....Taliban offered to hand Osama Bin Laden over to US authorities long before 9/11, all they asked was that the US supply evidence to support their accusations and that he be tried in a neutral country.....The US refused. What is it with you people and evidence? People will start to think you are making things up!
  11. And on yet another hand ( ???), if you pack a few hundred flavour objects onto a 400mx400m urban map, you will notice it takes quite a lot longer to load than most similar sized maps. Bravo for taking up the sword.
  12. That's disingenuous as you should know, there was an RC-135 in the immediate area at the time. But all this changes nothing.....If NATO is dumb enough to send a selection of floating coffins into the Black Sea (or Objekt 100's kill-zone as it is otherwise known) we'll all be one step closer to a war that none of us want, just because Ukraine** wanted to wave their willy at Russia. ** No doubt with considerable encouragement from Western powers (who, as we all know, really do not have their own citizens best interests at heart).
  13. Once again I find myself in agreement with you.....This is most odd!
  14. I was making word play on the actual radio conversation between the vessels.....Check out a transcript, it's enlightening. Poroshenko is now bravely fighting Russia down to the last NATO member: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/nov/29/russia-blocked-ukrainian-azov-sea-ports-minister What an utterly laughable little man!
  15. Four years for illegal fishing? I'm sure Russia will take all of the above into consideration when the Ukrainian crew get their day in court.
  16. The Afghan Government lays out its conditions for peace: https://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2018/11/afghan-governments-negotiating-position-completely-at-odds-with-talibans.php The Taliban Responds: https://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2018/11/taliban-calls-afghan-government-impotent-says-negotiating-with-it-is-a-waste-of-time.php
  17. Why not have two (or more) teams of players rather than an umpired OpFor, in CM:A for instance you could have one player for the Soviets, another for DRA, a third for Tribals and a fourth for the Mujahideen. Give each player a set of broad interests & objectives (some conflicts of interest amongst allies and mutual interests amongst enemies can really spice things up) a copy of the master map and a timescale to work in.

  19. Voted for CM:A.....Still a great title and the most evenly balanced of the modern(ish) warfare titles IMHO. I'd be willing to help out with this project if I can, in the past I considered offering to umpire a multi-player game using CM:SF, but the difficulties of administering it, plus a few issues with the CM:SF engine dissuaded me.
  20. Looks like it got pretty close.....The Bal-Es were on the move:
  21. Try this one for size: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_equivalence PS - And it begins.....Poroshenko bravely fighting Russia, to the last American: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/ukraine-crimea-latest-russia-petro-poroshenko-mike-pompeo-vladimir-putin-donald-trump-a8655106.html He might want to keep in mind that if the US and Russia do go to war, it will be the last.
  22. To be fair this is the crux of the matter.....Execution is everything IMHO. The premise behind some of the best scenarios can be pretty simple as I said earlier, but the way the designer forces you to interact with the terrain, enemy units and so on are what create the immersion. This is why I'm so particular about internal building layout and so on.....If you can get the player to thoroughly examine the terrain in order to pick their way through alleyways (or forests), point to point, your work on 'terrain immersion' is largely done.
  23. TBH my personal preference for WWII Uncons would be eastern front Partisans, I've often felt that CM:RT only covers part of Opertaion Bagration, Partisan activity during that offensive was on a truly massive scale. If they can be added to the game simply I'd love to have them, but I'm surely not going to be nagging for them as I now have CM:SF2 to satisfy my Uncon warfare desires.
  24. I believe that may be in either the Mosul thread or maybe @LongLeftFlank's Ramadi thread.....But I could be wrong. The precise location of a preserve objective 'Tile' in relationship to the building(s) on that 'Tile' can make a huge difference to the outcome of damage to those structures, as I discovered while testing Mosul stuff.....It's possible to have up to four buildings on a given 'Tile', in which case you need to go pretty mad before you are punished for your sins, however if it's a single building on a single 'Tile' you need to be a lot more careful (it is possible to figure this out from study of the map).
