    Hello,
    I was messing around with models and decided to fix the fact that the ZIS gun shields are way too straight. Ironically they're at the correct angle on the limbered model, so I took the gun shields from those.

    Mobile recon kubels in to scout out the torched strongpoint on the right. So far, all clear.

     
    Meanwhile, the flame half-tracks reposition to support the assault on the strongpoint on the left. Friendly infantry is very glad for the help!

     
    Uh-oh... friendly suppression fire on the left side of the strong point eases up for the incoming half-tracks a bit too soon and Guards-Iron-Man-Ivan doesn't let the opportunity go to waste. SMG fire immediately erupts from the next target area and hoses the lead half-track. Gulp!

    Hinterhalt camo? If the art work (of the vehicle itself, i.e. the .bmp texture) is the same in both games, then it should just be a matter of renaming the FB .bmp’s to that of what it is replacing, then copying the renamed FB texture into FR. I say “should”, cuz you never know what BFC might have changed in the model structure. I’ve been busy just dealing with the massive amount of uniform goodness to use/steal/mod for various other things, I haven’t looked at the armor. Someone like Ben park or MikeyD who really know what they are talking about hopefully will come by and give you a definitive answer.

    I'll try to answer some of this- probably over multiple posts, as there's a lot going on-
    Yes- QB maps require just about everything. They can be the most time-consuming to do, but they also deliver massive re-playabilty (with a few extra bits of work).
    It helps to think of these like doing scenarios- but with the knowledge that the game engine will assign whatever to that particular AI Group it sees fit to- unless the player selects- but the designer can't know that either- so the AI Plans need to accommodate all foot/wheel/tracked types.
    A note about AI Groups- The game engine does seem (through lots of testing) to assign the AI Groups on a higher-HQ basis, so if you were to select units by Battalion, they would show up as their own AI Group. That can help control the randomness, but that means the player is selecting the forces.
    -Start with a map that is suitable for what the QB is- meeting engagements have different needs than an assault map, for instance. Give each side a Setup Zone (required). Any AI Plan painted for Setup must be in the Setup Zone, or they won't do anything (I have ideas around this, and hope it can be changed so that the AI can be setup outside it, but my idea list is another deal altogether).
    I tend to think anything larger than 1440 should get transport of some kind, but you can't enforce that on a player- bear that in mind with giant maps and infantry-only situations. That precludes too much "Dash" or "Quick" during the QB.
    -Decide where the Objectives are. Paint those in the Editor. They should cover an area that makes sense as an objective, in my book- not a massive square on the map that doesn't seem like a rational Objective. I name them (as others do) with a name, and then I add the Objective point number. Easier to decide things on-map that way.
    Note on QB Objectives- they only use the Occupy Objective- this means no Touch, etc. Objectives- and no Triggers. The AI does use Area fire and Withdraw, as they are not Objective-based. AI groups can coordinate through Triggers that are based upon other AI Groups- this can be used with some discretion. Again- the game engine is choosing the forces, so you don't want a Platoon of AFVs waiting on an AT Battalion to move out.
    I'll add the rest of my basic check-list when I get time.
    I also have Photoshop tool that I use to keep track of all of the AI positions at once (P.A.I.N.- I can't remember what it stood for when I made it- but you get the point). Once I figure out where the best spot for a few things is for downloads, I'll get that up(and other things in various states).

    why are you being so obnoxious?  I haven't seen AKD or ASL throw a single insult and yet every post of yours usually has one unnecessary taunt?  ASL is pretty freakin knowledgeable.  Scary kind of knowledgeable.  If you have something to show him wrong I am sure he'd love to know as he is always looking for new sources.
     
    Calm down and trade source info but keep tossing the insults and BF is gonna give you the timeout you are working so hard to earn

    You overdo it by a factor of ten, but my real complaint is you needling Sarge (and many others over the years) about things they actually do provide, free, for your own G-D enjoyment. You’ve hit him up twice in two days. If you aren’t going to produce anything, and harass those that do, then I will tell you to F**k Off every time. You are a user and a taker, plain and simple, and there is a whole legion complaining about you off site. I broke my silence, because you complained one too many times about regular, non-BFC people who provide content—for free—for your enjoyment.  You can complain about BFC all you want (they just ignore you, as I have all this time, until now) but you are way off base when you complain about the guys who make  content for our enjoyment. And while you’re at it, it wouldn’t hurt to thank people who try to help you with issues (check your comments; these incidents, too, are legion) instead of doubling down like you did with Sarge. 
     
    Elvis, I’ll gladly take a ban...it was worth it to get this off my chest!

    Same here, apart from the briefing. I love a good briefing, with as much details as possible, although it also should be readable and not too long.
    I also will finish the scenario I've talked about some time ago. The AI plans will be kept simple and it will only be playable as Germans. The Russians are mainly dug in, so I only need to make some simple AI plans for some Russian tank platoons. That should be doable.

    Yeah, the facing is only done by effing around with them. I find it a lot of fun, actually, to see the various configurations you can make. One quick tip, in case you haven’t stumbled on it is, once you get your configuration set, if you hold Shift down, and click on each trench so they are all lit, you can move the whole thing wherever you want using Move command.
    As for memory issues....wait, what was I talking about?

    One trench will only line up in one direction (I think always N-S). You need at least two to change orientation. IIRC, if you use a second one to get the proper orientation, but then remove it, the single one will revert to the original orientation as soon as you hit the Big Red Button.

    I didn’t travel more than 5 miles from my home once in the last 5-6 weeks. First gun show in more than a year, finally, bit it’s a 3 hour drive. I figure F&R won’t hit until at least Monday, right? So as I’m standing in line to get in, I check my email. Guess what’s in there? Fastest tour around the vendor stalls ever; left in 20 minutes, hoping no one will let the cat outta the bag, lol!  No such luck, but I’m home now and at least it’s downloading.

    This is the most important statement that has been said in weeks.
    For all those that want to see the glass half empty.  None of you want to see the glass as to how it is overflowing in that none of those other companies or games does this. None
    What I like about Steve is he has a view of how things should be and he goes on the path that he believes he should follow and he does not allow himself to get diverted off the path by the peanut gallery that think they can proclaim themselves as experts and try to push their own views.
    Also, I do recall many a quick update release of fixes if there is some that are found shortly after a game goes out to the masses.  Then what happens is a few months go by and then some additional issues are finally discovered and these are the ones that do not get addressed normally right away since by then they are focused on another game.
    So how can these type of issues be game breakers if it takes months after all the hours that players have played to finally figure out what is not right. I agree that it would be nice to get them fixed right then, but I have never lost any sleep over how the game was working  and always found ways to still play it without it affecting the results too much.

    Try playing against a human opponent. They might even do 'worse' tricks than the AI, like hiding on the reverse slope with Pz Schrecks that shoot your tanks as soon as they get over the ridge. Somehow you seem to prefer an AI who would just sit in the open allowing you to take them out at your leisure, instead of giving you some challenge to overcome.

    So, what is it with you guys who complain that there aren’t enough bones or information given out, but when Steve and Elvis are all over it with posting after posting, with eye candy and explanations what’s going on(!) and yet you complain about the release being “late”?  
    Sorry, I just don’t get it (and it is exactly the main reason BFC has given for not giving us deadlines). Complaining about one or the other I understand, but both??
     
    Forgot to add: Rant Over, and I love all yuose guys anyways!
