Bufo got a reaction from Redwolf in AMD 22.8 series breaks game again
I guess still pending, but I make my own patches. With Steam you can select a proton version down to a specific game, so I set CM games to use my own patched proton, while the other games use the standard.

Bufo got a reaction from xXmushmanXx in AMD 22.8 series breaks game again
With the latest 22.8 series of drivers for an AMD GPU, the game won't work.
With the current recommended driver (22.5.1) everything is fine.

And those 10% should be flown to a killing field in Bucha, might push the percentage a little bit.
Regardless, Russia is screwed.

Bufo got a reaction from JulianJ in Do you plan to play your computer games if household energy bills will rise even higher?
Is this a joke? I will play whatever the cost.

Bufo got a reaction from Bulletpoint in Second Front
I also don't like the looks, however when anybody drops here criticizing the outdated graphics of the CM series, he always gets the same answer: it doesn't matter and fancy graphics are not needed for a wargame 🙂

Why, if we had a new DLC for BS called "Dutch freedom beggars" I would actually buy it.

Bufo reacted to Kinophile in How Hot is Ukraine Gonna Get?
The thread is about Ukraine and the war, and the game, specifically how the game both echoes and misses the reality as it turned out in the current situation.
How many war games get their hypothesis tested out in real life?
The thread serves the function of concentrating lessons learned and note worthy data from real life.
It's scattershot in its data collation and presentation, often off topic but does generally stay the course.
Almost every single thread in the CMBS subforum is about the game; surely we can leave one thread for the actual war the game was built to explore?

Musk needs to feel massive pressure on this TODAY. If you have a Tesla on order cancel, and tell, them why. If you know anybody with a Tesla on order, ask them to cancel it, and tell Tesla why. Call your Congressperson/Member of Parliament and tell them that every government contract Tesla has needs to be reviewed. Musk should be in front of Congressional committee this coming Monday.
Edit: Email to my Congressman Done before my coffee is.

Bufo reacted to Armorgunner in Artillery Bombardment in CMBS
As been brought up in earlier threads, is the artillerys weaknes in destroying AFV´s in CM. And the war in Ukraine, has showed. That artillery is a real AFV killer. We have seen drone films, of arty shells dropping maybe 30 feet from a BMP. And it starts burning. We seen film from a tank, when hit on the front. Smashing the front, and sending a road wheel forward. Hearing the crew screem inside. etcetera, etcetera

Maybe when my grandchild is born we might see artillery damage tank subsystems other than it's tracks.

Bufo reacted to benpark in Second Front
After playing a bit more, I like it for what it is.
The developer added an "unlock all missions" toggle, which is greatly appreciated. Many of us are too busy to grind on anything, and know the basic wargame-format drill besides.
There are many calls for off-board/indirect-fire artillery, which isn't in. That may be added before any DLC, from reading the scuttlebutt on the various chatter-spots. That seems to be a fairly large missing bit so far. Maybe air as well, though it seems lass necessary at the scale.
Main pains after more play-
-I find the camera restrictive- I want a free camera, every time. It's "3D" for a reason.
-The randomness is brutal. I embrace chaos and randomness as a fact of life, but it still seems to impact the game's relation to simulating reality in a negative way.
-No modding. WYSIWYG. I'd like to get at those graphic files to alleviate some of the comic-style elements.
The good-
-Map maker/scenario maker is easy to use, and can do all manner of things in a fairly basic (hex-based) way.
-Soviet Union versus Germany, right out of the box. US, as well. Though no US vs. USSR.
-Campaigns seem to get around some of the gamey aspects, as they are contiguous.

Bufo reacted to FlemFire in How Hot is Ukraine Gonna Get?
First off, nobody earns the right to be mean. That's a silly statement.
Secondly, I've been rather cordial this entire time and barely taken umbrage with some of the absurd responses I've seen. If you think I'm being condescending, I in no way intend to be.

Bufo reacted to Vacillator in Second Front
No worries, eager to hear more thoughts. I bought Il2 Tank Crew early on just to support it and have hardly played it, but I will if I can stop playing CM.

Bufo reacted to RockinHarry in Second Front
Sorry guys. Just´ve launched it once, had a look around in that "armory" (sort of ), then started 1st tutorial mission. After barely 5 minutes I´s out again. 😕 Simply lacked time. But as soon as I got some real impression I start posting here. 😎 As said, it´s a spontaneous buy. I´ve also seen it supports steam workshop, the currently existing player reviews sound promising (lots of comparing with ASL) and then thinking to myself that it´s just at the beginning and lots of improvements are yet to come for sure. (It´s Microprose!) Less than 30$.... small HD footprint... *click*... purchase. 😆
Edit: will be surely interesting to compare with Lock´n Load Digital Tactical which I own for a year or so, but as well had barely time playing and learning. 😶

Bufo got a reaction from Aragorn2002 in WEGO turn based game Flashpoint Campaigns Southern Storm | Out Now
Roadmap for Cold War Series:
Our first planned DLC is Central Storm. This expansion will bring those battles from Red Storm that are part of the Central German area. These will be updated battles and maps from Red Storm and Germany Reforged, and some new scenarios to replace those moved into Northern Storm. Plus, the addition of Belgium to the national datasets. Northern Storm - The new DLC will add Poland, Denmark, and the Netherlands to the game with new maps, scenarios, and campaigns. A few scenarios from Red Storm that fall into this area will be updated and added to this DLC.
On Deck (Planned but order subject to change)
Arctic Storm – Take the war to Sweden, Finland, and Norway. Mediterranean Storm – The war moves into Southern Europe, and we look at Spain, Italy, Hungary, Yugoslavia, and others.
Future Ideas
More Cold War Eras 50s thru 70s Other Conflict Zones like the Mid-East and Far-East Other time periods (World Wars and Modern Conflicts)

Happy days. Downloading. Heres hoping that Normandy pops up on Steam next month so I can transition it to Steam.

Bufo reacted to Jace11 in Shock Force2 v2.06 patch is now available
Nice that they fixed the T-90s but
Gil still broke, even worse, the hotfix I made for it doesn't work anymore 😪.
They changed it from firing out at the angle of the launcher, to a totally horizontal launch now, then it falls into the same ground-skimming obstacle-seeking flight profile.

Bufo reacted to BletchleyGeek in Second Front
I agree very much with the assessment. I must say that for a one man show it is pretty impressive... yet many of the design decisions are a bit ehm, particular. Steam workshop scenarios can be played at will, and with the editor I am pretty sure many "classics" will be available to play sooner than later. The scenarios feel like, on the basis of a couple attempts, time and resource management puzzles in the disguise of a WW2 tactical wargame.
There is no off map arty or CAS, neither on map indirect fire either.
In terms of gameplay I think is much like The Troop, all things considered, but with more content yet much less immersive qualities.
