Sounds interesting. What exactly does it do? I mean, will the Germans have night vision, or also the Allies? Or is it purely eye candy?

That reminds me of my days playing Red Orchestra.....Did you play at all, your map is quite reminiscent (but I suppose it would be really)?

Speculation I've seen is that both planes were in each others' blind spots.
There are questions about the planning of the air show, and the appropriateness of the flight paths with relation to the spectators as well as the location of the air show.

I think that we have to be grateful that no one on the ground was killed or injured as has happened at air shows in the past.

You should know that the color of the LOS line gives you information.  It even says 'No Line of Sight' which indicates that the issue being shown is not a spotting issue, but rather that the LOS is being blocked by 'something'.  In this case the dark blue is where your unit can see, and the pink part is the distance remaining to the target and is blocked.  Therefore the LOS is being blocked at the point where the dark blue line meets the pink portion of the line.  In this case those 'two trees' appear to be blocking your LOS to the target vehicle.  Visually you may say 'it's just two trees, just look at them', but for the game whatever those two trees represent are sufficient to block your LOS to the target.

When you read first person accounts of war and other conflicts you know that strange things happen during the fighting. At the moment I'm reading a book about the experiences of German tank commanders of Panther tanks. It's running the gauntlet blindfolded while being shot at from all sides. That's why I'm not easily shocked or annoyed by CM soldiers who panic or run at the wrong moment. War is the definition of chaos.

Actually if it is a good simulation things will not always pan out as you expect. If everything were predictable and known before issuing orders what good would that be as a simulation.

good to hear some news, don't mind delays in some ways. frustrating for all obviously . but i would really think we'd need to move on from pbem...and have a normal lobby etc...

I do think that CMCW is not a good first CM title. It's excellent, but it's aimed a little higher than some of the others, and things like the NTC reflect that.

The real-world NTC is an environment where you're supposed to fail, essentially - it's a very powerful training tool, but it's brutal and intended to be.

The CMCW NTC campaign is very, very good at showing you what you're up against - the BMP-1 in CMSF is a joke, and in CMCW it's a serious threat. You can't park US tanks on a ridgeline and destroy everything like you can in CMSF or to a lesser extent CMBS. You have to read the terrain and pick your battles, lean on combined arms and use every aspect of your force.

It's a serious challenge, and in particular it'll punish bad habits learnt in the other CM titles. The M1A2 is such a large advantage in CMSF and CMBS that you can get away without using your armour correctly - it offers a *large* safety net, and will cover a lot of your shortcomings. This is objectively not true for the M60A1, and that's one of the major lessons which the NTC is trying to teach.



 

I found it to be good overall. Delays are nothing new to us by now. We have enough content as it is. Quality of life improvments would be seriously appreciated by any owner of a Battlefront game.
I'm looking at you Multiplayer.
It was good to hear that CM Pro has taken a back seat for the consumers, either way the regular CM features will trickle into Pro. 

Well at least they were showing off some of the maps from the CMBN Battle Pack 2 while talking.

I think I know what you mean, they are great, I use them in all the WW2 titles but I often felt that the highlighting and shadows was overdone to the point that they end up appearing like they are made of plastic or waxy material. They are super detailed, but yes the splinter camo smocks look a bit off to me. The feldgrau uniforms do not have any similar issues, I think they are pretty much perfect.

It's a shame that the BF folks weren't featured rather than the marketers/publishers.  Kinda like featuring the executive producers and studio execs in a promo for a movie rather than the actors and director.

yes, its that type of behaviour I'm on about..just beyond me..ANYHOW. lol
 
Not trying to, just saying lol... all in all this is great forum here. and yeah your right, but is also why I added the slogan of "baddies" the aim being to highlight the poor outlook for anyone playing as the axis forces is all..
