Hi everyone! I've put out a new video where I compare a combat mission scenario to both the historical events that are portrayed and the actual real-life location. I thought I'd post this on the General Discussion board as it's also kind of about Combat Mission scenario design and research in general.
As it's about a Market Garden scenario, I've slept a quite few hours less the past few nights in order to get this video done in time for Operation Market Garden's 78th anniversary on saturday the 17th of september. I hope you'll find it interesting; spending the day basicly giving myself a battlefield tour and filming the locations of the scenario that I just played was amazing. Geeky, for sure, but amazing 😁.
Props to @Pete Wenman who is the author of this scenario for his excellent research and scenario design.

    - Ordering my infantry to move into my own artillery barrage / planned air area target zone. This is usually due to coming back to a saved game days later... usually.
    - Not using my off map support more liberally to pave the way for my advance fearing I'll run out when I need it most. Meanwhile my pixeltruppen are giving me evil eyes as they need to cross open fields in the face of four machine guns.

Been away almost a year, came back to check in on Battle Pack 1 for RT, and BG is at it again. Sheesh.
Hey Aragorn, Wart's, Kohlenklau, and all the rest of you good dudes; hope you're all okay and that they're hanging low and full. Or maybe high and dry. Whichever you prefer!
    Cheers!
    See you next year.

Highly unlikely. BF have always focused on the European theatre for their WW2 titles. I believe this is to do with the game engine's over the years, but also a degree of personal preference amongst BF themselves. There's also a lot of variety in tactical engagements and forces available in Europe relative to the Pacific which would be a highly infantry only affair in many cases.

Thanks mate but shame about the silhouettes. For what it's worth, pretty pretty pretty please. So close to unified UI across all the CM WW2 titles.

I've always thought there was a good correlation between wargamers also being data nerds. If wargamers can argue for days over armour angles and gun calibers, they probably also have an interest in having a record of all their past glorious victories and unmentionable defeats. Given I have the artistic ability ranging somewhere between stick figures and... well that's about it... I created a fully automated Excel Workbook a couple of years ago for the data nerds of the community.
The idea is the player enters results from the 'After Action Report' screen plus a few other easy to obtain bits of info about the battle just fought such a force selection, date, weather etc. Once entered the workbook goes away and automatically creates lots of pretty graphs and a record keeping service for all time. Over the past few weeks I've updated the WW2 version of the workbook to have it ready for CMFB. I've also taken the opportunity to throw in the following new features:
    - Added a new column for Aircraft Destroyed which is now possible in the WW2 titles.
    - Better filtering options for some of the automated graphs and tables.
    - New CMFB relevant locations and force options.
    - An automated 'Campaign Ribbon' award system. (Think Achievements - but both silly yet diverse enough to see how much of a dedicated CM player you are)
    - Numerous behind the scenes bug and error corrections.

I hope to have this released sometime over the weekend following my loyal tester "Mad Mike" gave it the all clear. I just need to write up a new Read Me document. Anyone overly curious can find the older version (including the CM Modern Era version) over at CMMODS:
    http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=134

And for those sending in queries about my YouTube channel, I'll get back to it when real life settles back down a bit.

Preview pics of the new version below. Thanks and hope you enjoy.

    That's some interesting, weird stuff.
I do get a strange, physical sensation of pain in my click-hand when looking at 95% it.
If BFC ever lets me take a crack at Stalingrad, I'll be all over that.

Red Thunder sells well and retains its value to the customer. So you guys should totally make a Fall Blau module is what I'm trying to get at. Along with 4 others.

I've always liked the idea of pixeltruppen picking up enemy small arms but can see why it isn't coded given it could be gamed to the extreme by competitive players. We probably don't want to see players go out of their way playing as the allies but trying t pick up every MG42 they come across.
One possible solution would be to restrict the picking up of enemy small arms to when units/pixeltruppen's own organic weapon is extremely low or out of ammunition. Essentially a last resort so they still have a weapon to fire.
