Oh yes... Forgot about that one.  Tankers was kinda fun with the female tank engineer etc.  And I agree the star was the KV1 tank(s).
Heh... the movable walls that all sets have must help.

not a classic "war" movie, but a great film on urban guerilla warfare and pretty accurate - Battle of Algiers. (and not gonna generate any CM scenarios  😒)

    Probus,

As far as I'm concerned, watching 1944 with English subtitles is the way to go, for you get to hear the actual languages used, facial movements match the words, and it's altogether more believable, even intimate. This has been my position on foreign language war movies ever since I got to experience the difference between good subtitles and dubbing, which often is awful in every important aspect (pitch, pace, pause, inflection, pronunciation and more) and frequently has only half a butt at best. Have seen Das Boot with subtitles and dubbed. Had to turn off the latter, for it was ridiculous and had nothing of the mood, feel and presence of the one I'd call real. English dubbed samurai movies should be outlawed as a form of torture, too!

    Regards,

    John Kettler

I know that Pearl Harbor went out with Paul Simonon for a time. Luckily for them that was before the garbacious movie was made. Give me "Tora! Tora! Tora!" any day.

You are entitled to your opinion, but iconography is important.  I expect you know enough about WW2 Germany to know that is the case. It's not just that the game doesn't favour one side of the other, difficult as that is to achieve, but also players see that is how everything in the game appears.

I second the premise that the main and loading screens should be side-neutral. In all the CM games I play, I generally play both (all) sides depending on how the fancy takes me. I was surprised at the comment about the US perspective.  I didn't get that at all, which is why the lack of Soviet kit slightly irked me. On an irritation scale of 1-10 this is about a 2 so not very bothered but surely easy to change?
Plus, from an iconography point of view, the 3 pix akd posted are evocative. The current ones are not as "sexy" from a gaming perspective.

Yeah we should try a test version of CM where all the artillery is stronger. This is exactly why ppl want mod tools.
I think we are getting a pretty incorrect version of how RL plays out. If explosions were realistic I think the game would play out hugely different

Thank you, @Bil Hardenberger and @The_Capt! Thank you, @Battlefront.com and team! As a child of the Cold War, this game has surpassed my expectations on Day 1. I had so much fun fighting as the "hated" Soviets and loved playing as the "good guy" Americans. The equipment and technology is a blast. This has immediately become my favorite CM game, and I hope it gets the love the CMBN and CMSF have with lots of modules, battle packs and vehicle packs plus great support from the community.
    Lt, out!

YVAN EHT NIOJ!  Outstanding, glad you guys are enjoying it.  It was a lot of work to pull this thing together but it was probably the most fun I have had "at work" in years.  I hope it brings you all enjoyment for many hours.

This is definitely at the top of my CM games list. Makes sense, seeing as I was one of those obnoxious people here who kept begging for it over the years!

    Correct.
I agree with @domfluff when it comes to aircraft. I think that a few tweaks would go a long way to how they are in game. Longer loiter times (when not being shot at) and larger area missions I think would be a good start. Plus, allowing aircraft to come in and drop all their bombs in one pass would make them both more effective, more survivable, and more realistic, especially in Cold War.
There are certainly other fixes/tweaks that could be implemented but those are a few things that come immediately to mind that I think would have a positive effect.

All aircraft at this time should be dropping dumb ordnance in salvo.  Making multiple passes would be far less effective against the target and suicide versus air defense.

The Churchill should be on the bottom. I based my opinion on the fact I was a very good Airfix modeler. All those little wheels took the fun out of modeling tanks. Fortunately, the T 34 was a brilliant design.

Good. Updating almost always works if re-downloading doesn't fix things 😉
Yeah I think I misread the error message. In the past I have used winzip like software which opens archives like a directory structure in explorer, so it would be confusing whether you're actually in the archive or the extracted folder. I thought that might be an explanation for the error message if updating didn't fix it.

Mission Accomplished!  The lesson is that for some reason you need the latest extracting software.

Hoping for a NATO and NSWP forces module after the base game releases. Would flesh out the time period and the forces involved in a hypothetical 80s conflict very nicely. Another great module would perhaps be a late 80s early 90s module (situated at the twilight of the Cold War, if the USSR didn't collapse or instead decided to throw the dice in a final attack on Western Europe, as some allege they wanted to do).

Here is a mod for one of the small barns : one concrete and a wooden one.  The building uses two different sets of textures that you can swap in game. Just copy the folder in the usual spot.

They're not perfect but I am getting tired of working on it.
Oh yes, I didn't bother modding the interior, didn't seem like it was worth the hassle.
