    Hi,

This reminds me that Broadsword56 did a cracker of a Tunisia mod for CMFI.

May now be time for some Alamein .

Not a perfect match.. but using the earliest of the CMFI German and Commonwealth units and desert mods may still be fun with the full goodness of Upgrade 3.0 in use.

As many will know, these terrain mod packs can often be used in other CMX2 titles with no more than hint of customisation now the wonders of Upgrade 3.0 are here.

    Fantastically flexible .

    Thanks,
    All the best,
    Kip.

Absolutely. I see no reason to hunt around for another story etc etc or change the time frame. I'd really like just to see the same game updated and perhaps some additions to the force mix. The idea originally was simply to get CMSF up to the state it could follow the model of the other x2 games to keep the engine current. Changing the scope or background story/ timeline sounds like project creep. Keep it profitable and reduce the effort, keep it simple. I think most folks who want to see CMSF 2 are looking mostly to just see it updated, not changed. Hmm sounds like an idea for a poll.

I am afraid you might be correct, though I personally don't give a hoot about the Bulge game

Otto is a Legend, of course.  Also read his biography, mostly about his military career, not his pharmacy business.  Stopped by his drugstore in the early 90's, Otto was in back, and I was up front checkout line with half rack Rolling Rock, pack of unfiltered Camels, bag of David's barbecue sunflower seeds (never get the ranch ones, nasty), and couple jerky sticks.  The problem came up waiting for my prescription to be filled.  Otto walked over, I had started bitching about the prices of the capsules release versus standard pills.  Otto assured me that yes, capsules are more expensive, especially for my Zoloft and cost had to be forwarded to the customer.  We talked for a little bit, laughed about Hogan's Hereos, his favorite character(s) are Klink & Newkirk, while mine are Shultz & Carter.  Otto showed off & bragged about his battle wounds, that the Russians could never get him, but nobody escapes prostate problems, that's why he got into the business he's in, selling medical.

Fortunately, it's not necessary to be 100.000% accurate with the timings in WeGo; a few seconds' overlap of the suppressing element's fire with the presence of the assaulting element won't cause significant harm*. Best to err on the side of caution, though: if you think 15s suppression is going to be enough, start the assaulting element's final approach after 15s, rather than trying to guess how long after they set out the support fires should begin, in order to achieve 15s fire on target before the assaulters get there. It's probably worth the assaulters taking a pause outside their objective too, so long as it's safe to do so, to contribute their own suppressive fire, and grenades. It's not as easy as using Pause in RealTime, but it doesn't take too much practice.
    Edit:

    * so long as it's small arms, not HE or larger calibre solid shot... Those would be messy.

Blazing 88's reacted to Bil Hardenberger in A Question for Bill Hardenberger: how do not be overwhelmed when things start happening all at once?
Apoll, yes it does sound like you are playing real time... I never play in real time, only wego.  I too suggest you play that way.  There is way too much going on in most scenarios to play real time, which I would only ever play in a platoon sized battle.

You need the time to take stock of all aspects of the battle.. you can only do that in wego mode for anything larger than a platoon.  In wego you can rewind each turn, watch the enemy UI contacts and determine movement paths, intent etc.  Happy to go into more detail, but it sounds like you know what you are doing, only need to remember that you are playing as every commander at every echelon, from platoon leader, to company, to battalion commanders, all the way down to individual team leaders.  You need to be able to jump into each of their shoes.. not possible in real time.

    Hope that helps some!

Plus turn based is essential for large scenarios. you can replay awesome or critical moments, see diffferfent angles, and different 'fronts' or sectors.

I'm not Bil, but to me, it sounds like you are fighting the games in Real Time. If you are, and I believe it is the out-of-the-box default setting, try playing the game in wego mode instead. Turn based makes it a lot easier to get your head around all of the things that are happening at once.

We-go is the way. It often takes me 5-20 minutes depending on the mission size to plan and view just 1 minute of the game time. It's also much easier to follow what is happening on the entire front in the we-go as you can review the action as many times as you want.

Blazing 88's reacted to dragonwynn in New CMRT Campaign: The Cross of Iron
The Cross of Iron is a interactive story driven campaign of a German tank company from June 22, 1944 thru June 26. In this campaign you take the role of Hauptman Johan Clauss, Commander of 1.Kompanie, 501 PzAbt during the opening phases of Operation Bagration. The campaign is designed with the latest version of CMRT and it is semi-historical.

As Clauss you will be faced with completing missions you have been given and somehow keep your Kompanie alive. You will at specific times during the campaign be forced to make hard decisions that can change the path of the campaign for better or worse.

It is very important that you read ALL of the briefings and designer notes as these drive the storyline of the campaign. Also Clauss must be kept alive or the campaign will conclude.

Also there are a number of mod tags within the campaign which will result in a rather robust download which is why the campaign is only available on the GAJ site here http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods/5458/details. The designer note for the campaign gives a detailed breakdown of the mods used and acknowledges the fine work done by the authors of those mods. In particular I believe that this is the first scenarios/campaign that uses a large part of Umlaut's outstanding factory mod, which in my opinion added the immersion effect that I wanted for this campaign.

To install unzip the zip file and copy the campaign file(.cam) to your campaign directory in CMRT and copy the folder panzermike (mods) to your data/z folder and you should be good to go.

I truly hope those who give it a try will find it enjoyable. I do feel it will be a difficult campaign to complete but it should be rewarding if you do.

Please direct any comments, suggestions etc to this thread so I can make any necessary improvements as they are brought to my attention. It was a great deal of time involved to create this campaign and I want it to be a enjoyable experience.

Dark doesn't explain why you can't see something? And it isn't just dark but hazy as well. In other words you have conditions where visibility absolutely sucks and your complaint is you can't see. Ummm I don't think a new engine, new glasses or even turning on the lights in your gaming room are gonna help.
