Commanderski got a reaction from Sgt Joch in Here's some pictures of my map
It's a winter scenario so it looks kind of bleak. It's a 4k by 4k map and while all of it won't be in this scenario it leaves room for additional battles as tank battles were occurring all over the place at this time.
It's going to be the tank battle of Lisow based on the book "Tank Battles in East Prussia and Poland 1944-1945: Vilkavishkis, Gumbinnen/Nemmersdorf, Elbing, Wormditt/Frauenburg, Kielce/Lisow by Igor Nebolsin."
The map took about 6 weeks to do as it took a little while to figure out what I was doing, not hard once you figured out what to do. Worked on it every day up to 8 hours some days (made for some interesting dreams at night...😀).
Now if I can get the pixel tanks and pixeltruppen to do what I want it should be a good game.

Commanderski reacted to kohlenklau in I often wonder if BFC Steve and BFC Charles even "play" these games...
I don't mean it as a negative thing. My first thought is of sympathy that maybe their lives are filled with stuff and running the company and do they even get the time to enjoy these fruits of their labors? If the answer is no, ---> they are busy CEO types now! they have no time! to ever really "play" the game or load a mod. They have employees and other folks who do that stuff for them as testers. That would be so sad. Incredibly depressing...
I hope it aint true but what sign do we have that they ever do play the games...? Like we do here in the  forums?
Now, will they all of a sudden post and ask for a PBEM opponent? Winner selects the next module!
EDIT: I forgot a part I was going to say about my many years working at an Italian restaurant on the Jersey shore. I never got sick of Italian food. I made meatballs and fried eggplant many times per week. Chopping mozzarella for hours. Pealing garlic. Making dough. Making sauce, it cooked all day til we closed. NEVER STOPPED LIKING THE FOOD! But a computer game? Maybe they are flat out sick of it all and are into billiards? Big money Las Vegas billiards? I dunno!

I'm always amused by the little things, like this in a F&R QB (testing something):

    KT has whitewash - tick!

    250/3 does not - hmm!
But wait, what is that on that guy's helmet?  The one in the middle:

I have not seen one of those before - love it 😉.

Just finished the map a couple of days ago, at least I'm 99% sure. I'll post a screenshot either later today or tomorrow. The map was fairly easy but time consuming.  I'm working on getting the forces right and the correct direction of the attacking forces.

For everybody who considers that they might be one of the "Club of Six", I have some great news. A buddy of mine has harnessed the company he works for, (he manages their Scranton, Pennsylvania branch) to be a corporate sponsor for me to set up some "tracked damage/umpire involved campaigns" we all can play here with the Barb Mod for the rest of the winter. Round of applause for his awesome company! Anybody interested?

The book "The Tanks of Operation Barbarossa: Soviet versus German Armour on the Eastern Front by Boris Kavalerchik"  (  https://www.amazon.com/Tanks-Operation-Barbarossa-Soviet-Eastern/dp/1399014293/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1641566389&sr=8-1) is a very good read on the actual quality of the German and Soviet tanks. One aspect of the Soviet tanks that is very rarely mentioned is that quite a few of the people building them never even saw a bicycle before and now they were building tanks!
The Soviet engineers continually reduced the amount of parts that went into the T-34 so they wouldn't be that complicated to build.  It's been a while since i read it and should read it again but I remember thinking that the T-34 quality wise was a piece of junk compared to the Germans but as Stalin reportedly has said "Quantity has a quality of it's own."

Steve started typing a long informative post and then the forum software lost it all so we went out side to do something productive like chop wood. During his marathon wood chopping session he got tired and his grip on his axe slipped. The surgery to repair his injured leg took a few hours and now he has a few days of recuperating in hospital before he can start retyping the great update.
How's that? Probably sub standard since there is not conspiracy and frankly its way to believable.
Totally made up BTW just to be clear.

But I play CM because it doesn't look and play like an arcade video game.
(Eugen games are fun distractions but have very little to do with realism. Felt like playing World In Conflict with more work and less fun.)

Small armoured group tasked with reccing the main body’s avenue of approach takes a tactical pause in a small unnamed (on their map) Polish village.

A cautious move along the main road and an observation halt is taken  - the tank commander cautiously scanning the surrounding terrain for any signs of enemy activity.

Enemy activity is spotted in the next village overlooking a key bridge. An SPW zug, over watched by their armour, make a swift dash cross-country to a small ford to outflank the enemy position.

They cross the ford without incident.

Common wisdom confirmed by some vets here is that they would carry about 400-500 rounds max when about to enter combat.  But, yes, once one also adds on all the extra stuff, it feels like most inf in CM can be overloaded - but with little discernible movement penalties.
In the modern titles if a squad carries too many Javelins they may no longer be able to move FAST.  And an WW2 HMG team reduced to one or two guys loaded with a couple thousand rounds may only move MOVE.
