How CM games should look like

But I play CM because it doesn't look and play like an arcade video game. :(

(Eugen games are fun distractions but have very little to do with realism. Felt like playing World In Conflict with more work and less fun.)

In my opinion, in an animated visual, the motion and behavior of the objects is as intrinsic part of the whole as the vertices, textures and shaders.

Regardless, the lighting and the explosions are too arcade for my personal taste. I want my war to look drab and bleak! IMO this would look so much better if it had slightly less plastic sheen and the explosions were high explosive detonations instead of low explosive deflagrations.

I am not so sure in that, in Wargame Red Dragon (predecessor of Warno) I have 3000 multi battles played.

Oh, ok. *Flies away*

I tried it and it it seemed too fast paced for me and too arkadish, like command and conquer games, which is not necessary a bad thing of course.

It is very far away from a Command and Conquer game. If we look at them, I would say it is as far away from it as it is far away from CM.

Anyway, the 10v10 tactical battles are very fun. In these low point battles you only control a few units, and it is easy to micromanage them - yet because of having 10 people on each side you have a nice battle going on and the battlespace is not empty.

You also feel like you are part of something and your actions matter.

Anyway, although it is arcadish, all weapons and weapon systems have the same task as in real life.

I have Wargame Air-Land Battle. Visually its a lovely game but I was very disappointed when I discovered that there is no FoW in these games from the AI's perspective. You cannot conduct a real ambush and surprise the enemy, they "know" where all your units are. A few battles and doing some research online to try to see if what I was experiencing was misinterpreted by me but no, I had it confirmed from several sources. What a pity.

But to the OP's point - it would be nice to have visuals in CM like there are in the Wargame series. I'm not unhappy with them as they are and I get swept up in the evolution of the battles I play (hence why I make AARs) so immersion for me is not quite as disrupted as it may be for others.
