  1. Fair enough, naturally you try movements based on RL. Approach through a ditch which offers concealment. Reach the bridge place a waypoint under or directly on the other side of the bridge. What happens? They climb out of the ditch and cross in full view of the enemy. The moment I saw this scenario naturally I will convey may own experiences with bridges.
  2. Rule No 7 restricts a squad. He is momentarily out of contact. They are doing a flanking maneuver on the other side of the building. I end my assault move with a cover arc around a suspected enemy to enable to use their grenades. It just interferes with battle drills which are micromanaged.
  3. You can't pick up the spare ammo if you buddy aid a fallen ammo bearer?
  4. If you fight your next war with tactics from your last war you set yourself up to fail. The enemy can read books too.
  5. Five prototype Centurions would be too much to ask. We could have a what 'If Scenario' taking place in 1946. Operational unthinkable, Western Allies vs the Russians.
  6. It is a little silly an MG42 can't be acquired if it is on a tripod. If they are traveling, they are in light machine gun mode. Does it make any difference?
  7. There is a similar bridge (but smaller) in FB and SF2 you see infantry walking through the stones or around the bridge but never actually using the concealment. I appreciate making maps is not as straight forward as we expect from the designer.
  8. I can never move troops under a bridge even when I plot a waypoint under the bridge. During moving you see how the tiles light up. I encounter problems near bridges too, AFV's sometimes ignore bridges and get bogged in some little muddy stream.
  9. The 5000 mile journey starts with a single step. That is the easiest way to get a new game I understand. I use excel to organize large and huge scenarios., and Affinity Photo to edit the screenshots. A brilliant Photoshop alternative.
  10. Volkssturm as reinforcement. Access the local telephone system in C2. (This should happen in modern warfare too.) Taking captured weapons, innovations (Molotov Cocktails). Buildings allow for subterranean warfare. Berlin subway system, opportunity to make Hitler POW and flush him out of his Führer bunker. Storming the Reichtag should be fun too.
  11. it has to do with the tiles, I think. . Let scouts check the terrain, you can rarely trace a straight line if you do tile by tile. It is the reason you can't walk under the bridge too. It is near the bridge and that's where the problem is. Just my humble opinion. I try to walk under bridges in FB, SF2. Open the game in the editor and check the construction.
  12. Recon and you start the game with plenty of Intel. Only one thing to do is to confirm it. Meetings the analogy of a tennis match. Serve fast and go for the net. I lost a Scimitar, from hindsight things are easy. The Scimitar was in the top 5 on the Chieftains YouTube Channel. I can see why; it is fast only when it stops or slows down it is vulnerable. No 2 scouts on hunt this is not the terrain for it. Apaches see only AFV's I was told and to see what they are doing you need something light and fast. The lost Scimitar is on the other end of the map.
  13. The first recoilless rifle, proximity fuse for artillery, Moaning Minnies on Shermans . Spies, and resistance units a little of topic.
  14. Video's are a good record of what works. One way to review a game is to play against yourself in Hotseat. You see Blue Forces, plot your moves swap to Red and you see how effective you were. Always report back even if you play the AI.
  15. There is no innovation with mines. A tactic was to attach two ropes on a mine and two troopers from opposite foxholes could drag a mine underneath a tank. Infantry digging mines up and use it against the enemy.
  16. You know the cliche give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish you feed him for the rest of his life. There is the editor I just start to dabble with it. You can load a present scenario, change the name, change the units, change the weather change the date and you have a new scenario. Goes a little further than QB.
  17. Yes, even when I play single player scenarios, I play as if I were in the field. Target acquisition through 'borg spotting' a no, armor should have their hatch open in proximity of friendly infantry, so they share their C2 intel. The reason you get a far more interesting and rewarding game. Signs you do borg spotting using the LOS tool excessively and the no LOS sign pops up. See it on YouTube most of the time. It is a waste of time. No rule is a good rule, I disagree with made up rules. Your weapon is your computer. Player A challenges Player B to a PBM game. Here is what Player A can do. Set up rules and make it irrelevant. He has more experience and knows he can reload the scenario. The rule two turn/day by mail. After he reloads the game and plays on Hotseat against himself. A thousand rules mean nothing if you're willing to kid yourself.
  18. That's where the qualifications come in. Regular and above should be able to handle infantry support weapons. Green and below not enough experience or not completed training.
  19. WW 2 Europe 3 people in the village had a car. Doctor, Mayor, and the Business owner. Cars were manual with a double clutch and the Deuce and a Half 5 Gear X 2. It must have been one big advantage for the US army the motor car was far more common in the US. I can understand that not everybody can jump on a Studebaker. 0.50 like all MG's you need to be trained for it. Some tactics you can't do in CM like indirect fire, but for pointbank yes sure everybody should be able to operate it.
  20. Troop Leading Procedure. You look who is doing what. Veterans with a -2 they still make excellent observers. Conscripts put them near a different C2 Intel get shared. Before the Red Button is pushed 2hours was gone. The actual battles you figure out how to do Bocage Tactics, MOUT in Syria, Urban Combat in Arnhem, or Aachen. American Units or British. If you have the British better get your TRP's for the 25 Pounders. I start using Excell for the big battles, otherwise micromanagement goes out of the window. The pen is still mightier than the sword so to speak.
  21. There is no war without Uncons the Romans called them Auxiliaries. That is what was missing in the WW 2 games. If you have the population on your side, you should get a FOW bonus. I like the Recon phase of a game; it can be a challenge at times.
