  1. It stops as well when it sees an enemy and it would be great if the passengers would take evasive action. Would the dismount feature help?
  2. @Haiduk which game did you play? I put them in cover and concealment on Hide with a cover arc.
  3. Advantages of playing on Iron. Before you press the 'Red Button' you select a unit, and you see what the unit can see. An AFV in WW2 not much. You see for example that you can approach an AFV with a tank hunter party within 50 meters. Your infantry can see an AFV but the AFV can't see the Grunt on the ground. Spotting Veterans and above are the best spotters not my words but @Josey Wales he has an excellent article on the subject. People with binoculars, sorry once you look through them you lose situational awareness the same with Snipers. That is my findings as a bird photographer. You need the range before the camera locks in and the bird is in focus. Outside the peripheral you're legally blind, the only way I can explain that Artillery Spotters rarely get a direct contact icon. They can plot a fire mission accurately by just using the Contact Icon. That is my findings playing the game Edge of Darkness in SF2. With AFV's I let them engage after they receive strong contact icons from nearby infantry. They need to be unbuttoned inside close contact with an infantry unit C2 preferably in place with the spotter. Spotter-C2-Infantry Contact-AFV.
  4. I agree with both @purpheart23 and @IanL we want both added realism by first shooter graphics but not at the expense of the strength of the present Engine. My wish list (Camera Position 5-9 topographic maps) PDAs in modern warfare. Camera position 1 POV on the ground or taking position of the crews in AFV's and other vehicles. It is a long way to go. Thank you both for your reply.
  5. What are the advantages of buying your games on Steam? I fear that the game will concentrate more on eye candy and less about realism. Seeing a drunk army on the march on GM got me disinterested.
  6. The other question is under which angle the other guy is shooting at your tank. This is dramatic, the armor factor can easily double by just spinning the tracks.
  7. For the CM TacAI conscripts all get a +2 for leadership and a +2 for motivation. None for the Fallschirmjäger they were high enough. The Yanks all get 'Ice' in their Coke also nothing for the 82nd Airborne.
  8. The AA .50 Cal had another important function. That is to fire at the top floors of tall buildings. The main armament had often not enough elevation. Neither has the 0.50 Cal in CM.
  9. Take the run of the mill M4 Sherman with the 75 mm gun. It can brew up an identical Sherman on about any CM map, let alone 88 mm / L56 of the Tiger or the 75mm /L70 of the Panther. Patton's method fire AP at a German's Tank followed by white phosphorus smoke. The effect of the phosphorus is that it set the tank of the Germans alight. I wonder or you could do that in Combat Mission.
  10. Here are the specs of my PC. I never looked back, if there was a custom PC for CM this is it. It is an HP, and I am not on their payroll.
  11. There is a couple of issues with the Apple Store. My opponent on Hot Seat bought a Windows PC and says it is !00 % better. The thing I can remember is the Camera Controls were not functioning right.
  12. There may be more to it than meets the eye. Battle for Normandy (Ned Force) Split a British AT Team away from their squad. Two out of three Mk4 Lee Enfield's show up as AT in the GUI. An American or a German Squad also have AT Rifle grenades, but the British may have had adapters for their MK 4 Lee Enfield's. The team was successful to knock out an halftrack from an ambush position. The game gives us some leeway of battlefield innovations. The GUI just shows six hand grenades only.
  13. For what it is worth, I know what you mean with bridges and also buildings. Not only with Stavelot. Place a waypoint in the middle of the bridge, with building place waypoints on the points of entry. I had a truck getting bogged next to a bridge.
  14. If I understand it right, you can go to the top floor and place the 'Blast' waypoint outside on ground level.
  15. Very true. I play WeGo for the recording of some new technique and to build a data base of what works and what doesn't, Sometimes it gets me into strife lesson learned I will reference the manual first but it is fun to experiment. If something doesn't look right like a 2 men team on hunt I try to do something about it. On WeGo you can record the small details on RTS you can't.
  16. OK I accept the hunt mode as @fireship4put it. But on Camera position one if you take away the cover arc you clearly hear cease fire. I just make a data base on things I observe playing the game.
  17. Congrats for a beautiful effort. I looked at the NATO Manual and they would have some substitutes too. But I looked at the Dragunov in the Syrian army could that be a substitute for an SLR (FN FAL) or an M14? The older Dutch APC's are modified M113 very similar to the Australian version of the M113. But I don't have a glue of how to design and edit anything like this.
  18. It depends which period you play (FB, SF2). You don't operate a single tank. In WW 2 on Hunt Turrets open and concentrate on taking terrain. The Russian and Germans had breakthrough tanks. The closest the allies had were infantry tanks like the Churchill which were under gunned. In WW 2 there is no way out of attrition. The Firefly and TD's vs the German big cats needs a concealed fire position and catch hopefully the Germans in time.
  19. VD Means Van Dyke. Anthony Van Dyke had a different name, but he had to change it. Before he was appointed as the official painter. He selected Van Dyke as it is somehow iconic of the Netherlands. Before it was Van Lesbian nowadays a 'Dike' also means a lesbian. This is a history lesson of its origin.
  20. Klotzen, nicht Kleckern. (Punch them don't point with your finger.) Heinz Guderian

  21. Sorry you understand me wrong. I didn't say anything about spotting. It has to do with readiness. The fire arc also stimulates readiness in the designated zone. For infantry I use the direct fire command together with a movement command often for the assault. The first text is the action with the cover arc 2nd text is direct fire order combined with assault. I think most players ignore this green text. With a cover arc they react also much faster than without it. Just observe as an exercise ' Hunt' with a cover arc and hunt without it, they tend without it to dance all over the place. My conclusion is reaction times of the troopers are noticeably faster. On 'Hunt' I want the 2 troopers to hold their fire. Upon spotting they evade contact also quicker. Exactly what I want them to do. I see the cover arc as a fire order not just to restrict. If you look through a gun sight you suffer from tunnel vision. You lose situational awareness. Spotting can become less with a cover arc. Not better. I will post something about the Hunting move. .
  22. Nobody ever complains that the Vickers or Browning Water-cooled MG's can't deliver indirect fire? It was a common tactic and they had special sights for this. They can and should be able to engage from just behind a crest of a reversed slope position. It would the Universal Carrier in a more effective role with that combination.
  23. The guy in the picture has an M79 if I am not mistaken. Will that be included in the game?
