  1. You may be in for a nasty surprise. The cannon is for close by and shoots something like an RPG Shell, The ATGM on top of the turret the long-distance weapon. You won't see the turret at all. Maybe in CM they don't let you do the right tactic.
  2. You can say that again, and you can save it as a bitmap for the editor.
  3. Thank you very much, I have Affinity Photo and Inkscape all to fiddly for projects. You absolutely made my day.
  4. Thank you, I was going to test it myself but you're absolutely right. It would be nice if we could order stack it like that.
  5. Was that because the Germans had less radios? The US forces were apparently better equipped.
  6. I tried a technique with the scouts which seems to work. Mask their moves by making other units generate some noise nearby. Surprised it worked, -2 scout unit surprised a German listening patrol and lived to tell the tale. The German Fallschirmjäger were looking in the direction of the noisy units. The Noisy units were on normal move mode. Possibly the move mode overrides the hunt mode in regards of contact icons. Worth testing.
  7. @LongLeftFlank Yes, we should keep the choice RTS or WeGo. It comes down of giving the customer choice. Now I study the editor a little more, I appreciate the effort people do to give as some decent games. For the future after playing the game for a few years the PDF files could explain more in depth about the editor. Also Unzipping the files when you install the game, I get by with some 3rd party software. The software should come with the game. How does the 'Steam' version do this? Using the .50 Cal on the Sherman when you area fire light some tanks use the .50 Cal and some tanks don't. or is it a matter of animation? Spotting on Iron the game has some spoilers. Unit out of contact still generate contact icons. We can ignore it but it is tempting. The culprit is the camera especially camera position 4. To make it realistic it comes down to choice. Camera 1 for the soldier on the ground. HQ's-have a map he uses, 1,5 and up. Elevated terrain camera position 2-3 and 4 for key terrain or if you call in air units. It should be a step above Iron for people who agree to it.Kind regards.
  8. Try to test the following, go on hunt on the end of the hunt order have a fast move backwards. Hopefully if he stops his hunt move because he is fired upon, he will take the evasive action. I observed that scouts will shout "enemy unit sighted!" and go prone. Which maybe the correct thing to do as a running figure attracts attention.
  9. Basically, if you don't get an Icon you don't have an LOS. . Your commander needs to open his turret within thirty-two meters of a Unit which has the contact Icon inside a minute you see he will get a contact Icon and do an area fire mission if you want. Waypoints give you an idea and that is all. Here I had my best spotters in the business, but the Scimitar spotted a movement when he did his mission. Now I can call out artillery make my Snipers do some spotting etc. Your Sherman has a different C2 than your infantry he needs to do a 'Horizontal transfer of Intel. Units in the Same C2 share through a Vertical transfer this can be done by radio.
  10. DC3's got six engines if you drink too much. The vibrations cause the optical illusions.
  11. I agree some operations are routine and have become a drill. Read all the contributions and accept what appeals to you. The two players will have the last word. It is just not the case if we enter a competition than we must accept the rules as laid down by the organizers. Till then for the individual, it is a guideline.
  12. Yes the Universal Carrier was the first example, the Sherman the 2nd example. If you open up don't assume the TC will operate the .50 Cal, in this case the loader was operating it. I start to keep an eye open for little things like that. The AI controls which weapon a unit will use not us.
  13. UK Battle Group Attacks in SF2, the AI also attacks as Syrian. (Meeting) It develops into a shooting gallery; it is just the fact a human is better at micromanaging the game. They don't use infantry as security attack WWI fashion (over the top). Most of the fun is the Recon phase of a game. There is where I still lose units. PBEM, the way it goes you play a game for a month or more? Same on Hotseat we play once a week and it takes at least 2 weeks to play a game. The big ones longer.
  14. The defense against armor for a BMP is its ATGM's from the Cannon it fires rocket propelled grenades to fight armor at shorter range. The Gun Depression or lack of it is not as critical as it seems. It could be a bug in the game. 2A28 Grom - Wikipedia The Gun on the BMP.
  15. I agree with @JoMac out of contact you should be able to have a 'Hold Your Fire Cover Arc'. Say inside 50 meters. Maneuver elements yes you set your waypoints while you are under command of your HQ. You have enough leeway here; you can modify them between turns without breaking the original orders. Here is the element out of contact because of the building.
  16. The example I gave was as follows. Crew survives and escapes from the Scimitar and is in Panic mode. He is the only one who has seen the BMP. Now to protect the integrity of the game, it is his duty to report back, so that the HQ will receive the contact Icon. The player is supposed to ignore the Intel. There is a need for initiative and common sense. In RL I wouldn't fire in that situation to ensure this in the game it is by giving our survivor a cover arc. The other is in the 'Assault Mode' I end usually inside hand grenade range of the objective a foxhole for example. Again, this is to make sure they attack the foxhole only is by a fire arc. I call rules in a game a guideline. We can't make rules for every commonsense decision. Happy gaming.
  17. I wrote something just before you did. For me cover arcs have multiple functions. Spotting and holding your fire, by giving a short cover arc and looking in the right direction. Chuck
  18. About the rules, the problem is in the AI we see things during a turn we are not supposed to see. How can you make a rule against that? A crew member in panic shares intel of the BMP completely out of contact. Only Icons should light up when the C2 of the units is in place. Troops in panic shouldn't be able to spot accurately he is out of contact too. Yes, we can make a rule that we should ignore the identified BMP. I appreciate the guidelines @Bil Hardenberger Our crew comes out of his panic state and now he is in danger if he spots the enemy by shooting at them. You can prevent that by giving the survivor out of contact a cover arc so that he will shoot only inside a range of 50 meters. Kind regards.
  19. Thank you, I will put it differently next time and sorry that you were upset. It was never the intention. My only issue is the cover arcs, I am just puzzled by it. I would be grateful if you accept my apology
  20. TBH I don't know. The other is the outside MG on American AFV's if you order Light Fire, they don't use it half the time. Sometimes you spent 30 minutes or more working on your deployment then you Quit and start all over again.
  21. Task Force Raff has armored cars and PAK 50 mm. It is set up for the Germans to fail. It is an introduction. A neat little map. The Roadblock is a stock battle.
  22. C130 all you need is a grader with a decent operator, and you got an airstrip running in no time.
  23. The opponent is like a shark, the ones you see are ok. If they target you, you won't know what hits you.
  24. I agree with @LongLeftFlank but the AI is unpredictable. For some AFV's the .50 Cal is a Christmas decoration. But I managed to make a screenshot of one using it during a recon mission. Losing a TC is unnecessary, we all start micromanaging the game too much. It is good sharing experiences.
