  1. Nice work, John. I've always taken "A Bridge Too Far" with a large dose of salt anyway.
  2. I'm not a "Brit" I'm a Limey. But, I'm glad my sense of humour gave you a giggle.
  3. Very late to the party, hardly surprising when you're 400 years old. The map looks stunning, can't wait to destroy it.
  4. Paddy :- "Ah, Field Marshall, wills yerse listen to thes 'ere idjut going on about "Brit recce units". It was me and the boys from County Meath who found Model's stash of John Martin's Guinness, was it not?" Monty:- "Yes it was, but how is that going to help get my staff car out of the mud?"
  5. We may disagree, but it is always good to hear other people's points of view. My first impressions might be wrong.
  6. Probably the reason for not stopping, is that it it was only at the very last minute the western allies decided that their help was not needed in Japan.
  7. I do have loads of mods, and most I'm happy with. But yes, I might dip into some of your others.
  8. I'm well impressed. I love the sound of a clanging shell case.
  9. I think that you are getting a bit muddled, Bletch. I Corps were on the left flank, North of Caen, initially comprising 3rd Canadian, 3rd British, and 6th Airborne. Those three would later be joined by others, and would become part of 1st Canadian Army.
  10. I don't know much about my alter ego's taste in music. Although he would sometimes invite himself into people's houses around the area now occupied by St Jame's Park if there was music playing, and have a good knees up. For me "period pieces" means either music recorded during WW2, or tracks from the 30's that were re-issued on V-discs.
  11. That is very tune. And following on in a musical vein, I normally make my own period piece mods.
  12. I have to agree with some of the above comments. Having them in the game is both historically valid, and far from "pointless". You just have to bear in mind how they were used during WW2, and keep that in mind, in game. One, their pre - battle function, providing intel. Which in game terms means going out in front of your troops and providing the info that we are then provided with during the set-up phase. Two, garnering more info either by moving into a hull-down position, or having the crew dismount and find themselves a decent vantage point.
  13. Don't worry. Elsewhere on this forum I have made reference to Elizabeth Cromwell's brew kettle.
  14. Yes, best leave The Chump's peccadilloes for another site.
  15. @sburke A decent version, but it doesn't have much in the way of storm and rain sounds. @DerKommissar Yes, another 60's classic.
  16. I have to say I've never heard the sound of thunder in game. Just rain mixed with off map arty. And luckily, no FM either.
  17. Steps out of the TARDIS in Petty France, London SE1E just around the corner from the Wellington Barracks. Notices that the Warts & Trooper is still in business, and thinks.. "Well I've been a puritan for 400 years, I suppose just going in for one won't hurt". Ten pints later, staggers into New Scotland Yard.... Crommers :- "Aassss yoose seensa Police T T teleephone bosssssssssse? Me old cock sparrrer." Sgt Dixon :- "Now come along old son, none of your cheek. And take that TARDIS back to the BBC where it belongs."
  18. Oh, no! I had him down as going AWOL at the end of the Battle of Normandy. Having to save his little poupee from the resistance, and them riding off into the distance on a BMW that they find in a shot up convoy.
  19. In fact he has a little french poupee who works in the local Bureau de poste, and she collects them from under a rock in a nearby field. The poor deluded girl thinks that Paulina Fassbinder is his maiden aunt.
  20. Can't really blame the guys from 3rd Squad for wanting to stay put.
