  1. It is an abstraction to account for wire phone lines. As with any abstraction it is not perfect and allows comms when a wire line is unlikely but there ya go. Unless and until they decide to model wire laying it will not change. I have never seen that mentioned by BFC. Yeah Panther fronts are scay tough. Those 85s are damn scary and they will penitrate. With a panther they just need a bit of an angle. If the Panther has elevation over the T 34 then it will be well protected but if the T34 has elevation over the Panther the story shifts.
  2. I was advocating cheap for if you only want to calibrate for games. For photo editing I would defiantly advocate spending a bit more.
  3. If anyone wants to create a saved game or two showing the inappropriate armour penetrations please do. I am way to busy myself but I can get a few precanned saves into the system. If you set up the US ac as fanatic with a short cover arc they will let you get the enemy weapons as close as you want. Possibly immobilize the ac if it tends to run away. Share them here via drop box or similar or PM me if that will not work and we can sort out some other way.
  4. Oh that is not likely to happen. Good though / hope though.
  5. Yeah monitors ship to bright and with extra saturation often. One thing you can do is buy a colour calibration system. You can get one for under $100 these days.
  6. Actually it will say v1.20 and make no mention of the engine. CMFI has not had the new version number treatment yet.
  7. Ah good idea making it against the AI only. That way you could have multiple setup orders and use triggers to spring ambushes and initate withdrawal. I like it.
  8. Sounds interesting actually. The fist two thoughts I had were: Will it be fun enough? The side with the small force will have quite a bit of waiting to do. And the side with the large force will have quita bit of convoy management to do. I suppose some people will be more receptive than others, no surprise there. The other issue will be how to set the objectives. Will it be destroy force only or destroy and spot for the smaller force. If objectives are part of it then it might wreck your goal if find the other guy. If you can solve or live with those issues then it could be successful. I say give it a try.
  9. Oh that looks like my que to leave see you all in the other threads - once they start appearing.
  10. Wow, yeah I'm with @womble on this one. The fact that @Raptorx7 and @ASL Veteran offered you some constrictive suggestions is more than I would have expected you to get with such a post. Sounds like instead of insulting people here and the developwrs you should learn how to play the game. There a little bit back at you
  11. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that you are either the only one or one of a very few that would be willing to wait a year for that. :)
  12. Good to see sharp eyes are noticing the new stuff...
  13. LOL I guess getting other people to do the modding is light duty for him
  14. Yep, that sounds more like an average to good outcome for a single T34 in a situation like that. I have never seen fences causing line of fire confusion like trees can.
  15. Excellent introduction @Bud_B! I love how you have the snow storm slowly covering the landscape. I will not be reading the comic until the end but @Bud_B suggested I at least say hello before things get going. My chosen forces will have some new gear to show off but I'm not saying what it is. You guys will see it when @Bud_B's comic characters do . So, sit back and enjoy the comic and I'll fade into the background and let my pixel troops do the talking from now on.
  16. Glad to hear it. Yes usually our own tactical missteps are at fault but occasionally low probability events happen and even from time to time bugs. When you say you could not reproduce the issue does that mean the PzIVs prevailed the second time?
  17. Oh that's scary. I have win10 and have had no real issues. Were the games working under win10 before? I hope you can get it working and see if the same thing happens again - with a save or two this time. Re: WW2 felling like modern: I just have to laugh when I read that. Play some CMBS and see if you feel that way. Modern tanks in CM are way more deadly and efficient than in the WW2 titles. Also the one shot kill discussion has been had, summary: it does not happen all the time dispute the complaints to the contrary and it is likely just about right as some one pointed out the Soviet 85 is way over powered for a PzIV to handle.
  18. It does make a difference. The area target will have less chance than a point target. However in your case I would recommend using a small area target that covers those known enemies. You will really notice the difference between a point target and a large 600m area target but not much of one with a smaller area target. In this case if you want those two targets taken care of I believe that the fastest way is a tight area target.
  19. @JonS was not talking about the kind of settings that can be changed in the CM scenario editor. He was talking about the armor values of the tanks. In other words exactly the kind of mod you made except instead of investigating a bug fix it was for cheating. I do not see this issue as two sides of a coin but a two headed coin that will be used for ill.
  20. I believe the short answer is yes. The basic design of how armor penetration in the newer games works comes from the work done in CMSF. There have been improvements, such as hit decals, since then so if there are differences they will be small.
