Petrus58 reacted to Jace11 in Converted QB Map from CMBS
One of my all time favorite maps is the CMBS Demo map from Black Sea with its rolling hills and detailed village. It features in at least two of the scenarios in that game.
I have converted it to work in Red Thunder. This wasn't easy, I have tried a few times before and it would never load. This time I deleted all the buildings in CMBS and then manually replaced them all after getting it to load in CMRT. A few extra tweaks were needed but not much. Kudos to its original author. This is Map 260 from Black Sea, (basically the meeting engagement version of the CMBS Demo map). AI plans are rudimentary but functional.

Okay folks - it's the weekend (still) and now that all the drama is over we can get back to driving tanks through hedges ... and of course today remembering the guys that did it for real.
Go here to get the read me pdf file (please)
Then here and here for the two zip archives. (Hint - if you just want to get started without any faff then download the read me, grab the first zip file and you'll be playing in no time.)
Once it's been out for a few days and nobody has complained that it's broken their rig I'll get in touch with @Bootie to upload it to the warehouse, 'cos he probably hasn't got anywhere near enough to do ...

Now try to play this at iron, at ground level, with no spotting icons ... everything will soon suck!

    Petrus58 reacted to Jace11 in 2 Camo-peas helmets
I made these two SS-helmets to complement Lucky Strike's nice helmet pack, which I use with EZjax's excellent camo-peas uniforms. I use them in Final Blitzkrieg, but I imagine they will work in Normandy etc. You can probably add the camo-peas tag if you want too and increase their frequency by using multiple numbered copies.
I made them by taking the plain snow helmets, then taking parts of EZjax's uniforms to lay over the top, then tweaking to fit etc, so the color tones should match well.

              Sniper in the Corn
    ----------------------------------------------------------

    Description :
With the release of Shock Force 2 on Steam, I wanted to create an relatively simple introductory scenario with a low troop density thus easy to manage where new players can practice small units infantry tactics against an insurgent force. In the end the map size and the length of the battle are probably too large for a real basic scenario but that was my initial starting point.
The scenario has you lead a single platoon of British infantry plus support elements, belonging to the C Company, 2nd Battalion, Parachute Regiment and takes place in september 2008, early morning in Helmand province, Afghanistan, in the green zone roughly halfway between Sangin to the North and Gereshk to the South West.
Mission length : 1H30 minutes plus extra time.
    Map size : 1150 X 1680m

There are three AI plans each with a different and semi randomized setup.
Play as Blue attacker against Red AI only.

    Install :
Make sure your game is patched to version 2.04 and you have the British module, then extract in : documents/battlefront/Shock Force 2/game files/scenarios
    or for a Steam install : steam root folder/battlefront/Shock Force 2/game files/scenarios

Thanks for the thanks! I don't generally replay or keep the personal scenarios I make either -- just some of the QB maps. I have lots of house rules, depending on the situation. And, like you, sometimes I don't even paint victory locations. I have to force the enemy to surrender or lose the battle.
Yeah, I've been thinking about the community having a source for rough, but ready enough for some casual fun, no-frills scenarios and QB maps forever. I was thinking of calling such a series "Spit & Sawdust" -- like, S&S1, S&S2, etc. I've mentioned it once or twice on the forums, but didn't get much reaction.
I've got one more QB map on hand I'll post here to help folks feed the monkey. It's Hind's brilliant "Rough Marsh Hills" map. I added AI plans for both sides and noted that in the description. Didn't add an attack map file name, but that's what it is.
Rough Marsh Hills by Hind (Attack Map -- playable solo either side)
    Enjoy!

And just like that it’s all over.

(Just to prove that yes Volkssturm are indeed in the game. )
There isn’t much different in terms of positioning of each of the Kampfgruppe compared to my last update with a battle map image.
A victory is a victory but it was damn close. I never saw the human wave assault coming towards the end to try and break into OBJ Beer. My pixeltrüppen Fallschirmjäger were panicking quite heavily after that – a second wave right behind it would have meant a contested objective and a different outcome. Virtually all of my infantry and panzers are rattled morale wrecks.

Pic - The "Wall of Aluminum." It seems like a solid line but all of these troops are rattled and hanging on by a thread.

    The scene of the crime:

    Things that I felt worked:
Rushing holus bolus towards OBJ Beer from the opening as per my initial plan. My pixeltrüppen had to run quite a way and a Soviet Tank showing up in the right place at the wrong time would of meant utter failure in the first two minutes. I was expecting Soviet tank riders to be rushing towards the objective at the same time as me, but I was lucky BFCElvis decided to take a slower approach.
    -       Slicing and dicing the map down those main roads running down the centre of the map by the JzPzIV’s and other vehicles. This prevented or at least slowed down the redeployment of Soviet Armour through most of the battle. Infantry managed to slip around the back unnoticed but good terrain analysis up front meant I could be pretty confident and squeezing Soviets into a slither of the map from early in the battle limiting their options.
    -        The map. You’re going to enjoy @benpark ‘s Berlin effort once you get your hands on it. Once you’ve had your IS-2 and King Tiger fix do yourself a favour and load up one of the two Berlin master maps (but go grab a coffee for 20+ mins) and just go exploring. It’s a masterclass of urban map making.
    -          The new TacAI changes are just in time for the more urban fighting that is coming with this module.

The final death toll at the 'Intersection of Death.' I felt this personal objective to lock down this part of the map with my own armour worked very well.

    Things that didn’t go well:
    -          I got a bit lax midway through the battle with my vehicles thinking I was on top. It was entertaining but there was quite a bit of waste there.
    -          We agreed no off map assets (except the aircraft to show off the Ostwind) so I took infantry guns thinking they could still provide some heavier on map indirect support beyond 81mm mortars. That didn’t work as the map was too tight with the multistory buildings and too small. Bad selection on my part. Oh well.
    -          I started running out of ammunition towards the end and didn’t manage some of my squads the best as a result.

Finally, how all of the Kampfgruppe Commanders faired at the end of the battle:
    -          @Hapless = Dead and crispy. Shot through the head by a Soviet LMG fire. His tank crew followed him to the grave late in the battle after being taken out by the last remaining Soviet piece of armour on the map. The tank went up in flames and was doused by a flame thrower for good measure.
    -          @DoubleD= Dead and burning in his tank. Didn’t stand a chance with a single catastrophic shot to the hull.
    -          @Josey Wales = Dead. Shot down in the street after exiting his armoured car.
    -          @Bootie = Alive! Spent the last ten minutes cowering under a window from a wave of SMG fire. He’ll have some mental scars but has survived the war.
    -          @mjkerner = Alive and shooting. He raced up to the ‘wall of aluminium’ after the human wave assault to try and rally his men. They didn’t really listen to him but he’s joined the front line getting a few shots off with his pistol in the last few minutes.
    -          @benpark = Alive. Spent the whole battle back at OBJ Vodka living the life relaying fire missions to mortar teams.
Big thanks to @BFCElvis for an entertaining and bloody battle.
Thanks for checking in everyone, if there are any final questions post them below and I will see what I can do. Oh and no I have no idea about pre-orders or when it will be ready.

Look I know that you follow me around with your banter because I can imagine that you´ve by now noticed that you got banned from commenting on my Youtube channel for multiple rude and almost identical spam-like comments and now look for a way to air your steam. Perhaps it helps to settle this when I let you know that I am absolutely not interested in your opinion about my things, won´t change my decision, and whatsoever want the least have to do with you. Furthermore it would be also utmost pleasing if you stop stalking my place and simply spent your time elsewhere with something that suits your preference. Despite this I have nothing to discuss with you and do not wish you derail that thread for this further.

If you're interested, here are some slices of other QB maps, set as 'tiny' size, which I have been playing in RT and having a jolly time.

I've been focusing on the more developed agricultural land more typical of the North - the QB maps that come with CMFI seem to better represent the under-developed south.

You can also note that the vanilla crew is way too far back, which is fixed by transforming the model backwards in Blender.
I plan on releasing the fixes for the 7.62cm Pak36(r) and the various CW 6 pounder guns after I'm finished with them.

After a year and and five months it is done! The SF2 mod really burned me out but I managed to FINALLY finish this bad boy after lots of breaks and procrastination. There's over 1700 portraits included. I hand made 60+ unique faces for this one, there's plenty of variety.
Thanks to MJ for sending me the new portraits so I'd know what was included in RtV. He didn't have the SS so I had to guess, but going by my research I think I have them covered.
Guys, please read the included "Urgent" readme in the zip when you get a chance. Things are pretty tough for me right now so I'd appreciate it.
I sent the mod off to Booty so it should be up some time soon (or maybe Ian can get a hold of him and let him know). In the meantime here's the splash screen and I posted a pic in my FI Mods thread.

This one is one of my new favorite vehicles in CMFI R2V: The Morris C9B SPAA.
A favorite to play with, that is - not to mod! It has been a real PITA to mod, because it has no large surfaces, but millions of little nooks and crannies. Luckily, modding is now over and I enjoy playing with my weathered Morris SPAA. Hope you will too.

    Mission to Maas V2.btt

Updated huge scenario Axis KG Peiper versus Allies.
Semi Historical based on the actions over 4 days around La Gleize and Stoumont, condensed into a 4 hour period.
4 hours, gives plenty of time. But need to balance force preservation with speed to secure objectives, avoiding enemy artillery and fighting off counter attacks.
Controlling 700 troops and over 50 vehicles is not for the feint hearted
    Improvements over Version 1
Improved road layout near Coo and through La Gleize, so game engine doesn't re-route units behind buildings . Ground conditions now allow for more off-road manoeuvre with minimal risk of breakdown, although beware of mines. Some building layouts have been improved. Found Grilles! and added some German recon. German TRP setup is now at the front of the Spitze rather than inconveniently hidden in the woods! 5 action plans, with variable arrival time for USA reinforcements give more replay ability. Start time is 08:30am which provides darkness and poor visibility for the first 15-30 minutes.
    Why go large?
Operational type decisions on when and where to attack / defend with which company optional march routes route security, flank recon, patrols, early warning  creation of mobile reserve to respond to threats etc command challenges, do I move to counter that threat or temporarily withdraw to fight again? Deeper understanding of your own force strengths, weakness, mobility, firepower, combined arms Visual. Attack and counter attack over the same ground lets you fight past burnt out vehicles and damaged buildings, that are reset if occurring in a campaign Not many scenarios produced on this scale, probably for good reason Many thanks to the guys who commented on version 1,  much appreciated, hope you find this an improved experience.
