    Thanks!
I hope CMBS fans get to use it there, too. It would be very interesting to see how the Red vs. Blue dynamic works on this map.
Yeah, I'm looking WAY forward to finishing this sucker up and getting it out there. Still tons to do, though. The good news is that there is a light in the tunnel on getting enough finished to cut some slices and get community playtesting going on those areas.
Here's a more detailed status update. Red areas indicate that I need to essentially start from scatch (cut the skeleton and build back up). Non-red areas are done except for final tweaking of elevations, foliage and addition of flavor objects (will probably keep those to a minimum to save on frames). Every modular building on the map (which is nearly all) is being given individual treatment for window and door layout, skin and window style. If it's in a non-red area, its done!

@Battlefront.com  Gotcha, I misunderstood your post at first and thought you had removed the videos of CTS in action.
The images you did remove were from 1945 France, I posted them as a reference point, to point out that perceived collaborators always receive rough treatment, even in countries we would normally consider the height of civilisation and democracy.
This comment was actually made in relation to videos of atrocities filmed in Mosul during and after ISIS' defeat, vaguely referenced in the Guardian article.....I pointedly did not link to them and in fact have made other posts rebutting the accusations made against CTS in relation to at least one of these videos in my Mosul thread (I didn't link to them there either BTW).
I'm not sympathising with anyone (other than CTS), just stating the facts to give perspective to the distinctly vague account provided in the Guardian article that was linked to just above.
Apologies for the double confusion (and the inappropriate images).

My biggest question about the force balance in this battle pretty much amounts to "Why were the Syrians probing a NATO force anyway.....Are they mad?".
I really can't see even the Republican Guard mounting a counteroffensive in the face of a US led NATO assault, it would be utterly suicidal.....Far better for Syrian forces to retreat into the bigger towns & cities where NATO's ROE will limit the effectiveness of airpower.
C'mon guys, give us a battle we can really get our teeth into!

Some of my early stuff was pretty shonky though …. that was the thrust of my comment really - more tools for CMSF designers now.
Otherwise I don't have anything in the mix yet due to that pesky Beta testing stuff; however, I have heaps of scenario/campaign ideas so we'll see.

Rommel, you magnificent bastard, I read your book!
As for a RED force counter to BLUE open country mech, all I can think of is some of the 1941 Ariete tactics during CRUSADER, where their best offence was a good defence (i.e. a feint), and their short guns bushwhacked the advancing British tanks on reverse slopes and wadis.
Hezbollah provides the only successful  modern example of course, but they had the singular advantage of defence in depth, in a long-prepared zone. Still, they had some interesting tactical ideas.
    2006 Lebanon war
Hezbollah deployed their tank-killer teams in a thin but effective defensive scheme, protecting the villages where the organization’s Shiite members reside; villages where their short range rockets were positioned and where command infrastructure and logistics support was set up. An estimated 500 to 600 members of their roughly 4,000-strong Hezbollah fighting strength in South Lebanon were divided into tank-killer teams of 5 or 6, each armed with 5-8 anti-tank missiles, with further supplies stored in small fortified well camouflaged bunkers and fortified basements, built to withstand Israeli air attacks.
Due to mountainous area, engagements were encountered at ranges below 3000 meters. Hezbollah tank-killer teams would lay in wait in camouflaged bunkers or houses, having planted large IEDs on known approach routes. Once an Israeli tank would detonate one of these, Hezbollah would start lobbing mortar shells onto the scene to prevent rescue teams rushing forward, also firing at outflanking Merkava tanks by targeting the more vulnerable rear zone with RPGs.
In general, Hezbollah demonstrated rather slow regrouping and response rate, since their mobility and command links were severely restricted by the IDF dominating the open areas. However, even this slow pace was fast enough to match the slow and indecisive movements of the Israelis forces.
... Benefiting from its superior night combat capability, the IDF conducted most movements at night, minimizing exposure of forces during day time....
Realizing the capabilities of the Merkava 4 tank, Hezbollah... engaged these tanks exclusively with the heavier, more capable missiles such as 9M133 AT-14 Kornet, 9M131 Metis M and RPG-29.... the TOW as well as non tandem RPGs, were considered obsolete against tanks, but proved quite lethal against troops seeking cover in buildings.
Overall, almost 90% of the tanks hit were by tandem warheads.
The IDF employed several hundred tanks.... about ten percent were hit by various threats. Less than half of the hits penetrated....
Hezbollah aimed their missiles to the sides, and rear, when possible.... An armored brigade, which bore the brunt of battle.. hundreds of antitank missiles were fired... only 18 tanks were seriously damaged. Of those, missiles actually penetrated only five or six vehicles and according to statistics, only two tanks were totally destroyed, however, both by super-heavy IED charges.

I have no idea. Most everything is digital now a days. Look at it this way. I built a 2400 dollar monstrosity for my 48th birthday a year and a half back. The first thing I did was install Steam and download my games. If it was a danger it wouldn't be on my computer. I don't do anything remotely risky with this beast. You would love it. You know how you are always b****ing about dealing with mods? You know what you do on Steam? You check a subscribe button and they are automatically installed. If you don't want to use one in game, you uncheck it. For a mod fiend like you, it's a dream. And every game you buy goes in your library under one UI. You can even play them offline once you DL. It's a no-brainer.
Not to mention the sales they run. I just got Sniper Elite 4, for $8.99. It debuted at $59.99.
I thought Steam was stupid, 9 years ago when I first had to join it, after buying Left 4 Dead. Not any longer. Don't be a Luddite, Erwin. The future has arrived!

Yeah, I didn't type it, but was mentally applying avoiding balconies to AI setups as well.
Speaking of which, when testing out my map sections with AI troopers, I've started using a standard technique of having the AI start hidden on the lowest level setting, to be triggered to move to higher ones when my troops approach. That way, I can blast the crap out of the area with heavy arty and get a feel for how well the troops are being protected. The answer is...pretty well!
Actually, that's one thing that BF may need to tweak at some point. Modular buildings seem to have significantly more staying power than independent ones vs. HE. A direct fire round will cause casualties in the same way in both modular and independent, but in terms of building level and/or single side wall destruction, it seems like modular buildings may be a bit too tough at the moment.
Once I get to the playtesting stage with folks from the community, I'd like to get their feedback on it. I haven't done any systematic testing.
I'm planning to give players as much heavy arty as I can realistically give them, as the map can absorb so much and offers so much protection. That way, they can use some of the tools BF has given than don't often get used (because they don't fit most scenarios) and because the resulting "terra-forming" of the map has the potential to create unique tactical situations each play.

Simple, just swap out Alfred's "doody hat"  for a powdered wig and Bob's yer uncle.
I may blow the dust off my le Carillon work. It will keep me out of mischief here, to the relief of not a few.

The Radzy maps are definitely Pete's.  The one you pictured about is one of his creations for CMRT.  Note his comments even before this map was converted.  http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/cm-red-thunder/cm-red-thunder-add-ons/razymin-master-map-care/

    Radzymin Master Map
This map was the basis for missions 1-5 of the German campaign released with CM: Red Thunder.
This map was so large and memory intensive that the maximum map size was scaled back. (It is worth noting I was not able to open this map when complete in the 3d preview, as it caused a CTD.
However the map can be loaded into the editor and reduced in size until it accords with the game maximum size requirement.
    These are as follows
Max total surface area = 18.045km2 (approx. 4248m x 4248m) No one side longer than approx’ 8000m (8k) No ratio between length and width in excess of 10:1 In the zip file I have also included the extract of the topo’ map used as the editor overlay, together with a composite screen shot of the map in the editor (the screen shot is of the not quite completed map, but the map itself is complete).Pete Wenman

Cheers fella.....All strictly tongue in cheek, I hope to raise a smile with this, not cause any offence.
Thought I'd finally finished the mapping of Trumpton itself, but I did my usual stupid trick of exiting without saving.....So I've got a bit of restoration to do then it's adding the rest of the flavour objects, there will be literally thousands of them when I'm done (it's into the hundreds already)!  Consequently although it's only a small map it may take a while to load, hopefully it'll be worth it once you are in there.
I'd very much appreciate it if anyone who does feel 'triggered' by this would kindly keep their thoughts and comments to themselves.....There are plenty of sites for political quibbling, but this isn't one of them.
