I'm working on a scenario about the Juno landings at Courseulles-sur-Mer. It will have a historic version as well as a couple of "what-if" variants. Most of the map is done and units in place, but I've hit a couple of snags and has the project on hold until the patch is released.

This is an unprecedented effort by the CRMA (Canadian Research Mapping Agency), a volunteer outfit started by veterans to fully map the entire movements of the Canadian Army in Normandy, starting with the invasion maps and going forward. But it's much more than maps, because it includes/will include all the War Diaries covering where Canadian units were, enemy sightings, combat, etc, as well as piles of pre-war, wartime, and post war photos.  All the other forces friendly and not are also covered as to their locations if they were in the AO. The amount of material compiled is monumental and will be fully searchable, too. Project 45 after that will follow the First Canadian Army to the end of the war.

rocketman got a reaction from Artkin in Faster elevation calculations in the editor under new patch?
I tinkered a bit in the editor and was struck by how the elevation calculations now are done "on the fly" and pretty quickly too. Like when you drag a line of elevation points and you see the calculations while working. In the other games (not patched yet) you don't get any calculations until you release the mouse button and then it usually takes a few seconds to calculate. It is quite time consuming on large maps with lots of elevation changes. So if this makes it way into the other games I will be a happy man.

IIRC Steve said it was motivated by actual tactical doctrine for the Italian Army and to reflect deficiencies in the leadership/HQ structure. But I'm happy to be proven wrong. They don't want to implement stuff that would be nice to have if it had no place in the real setting.

Everything besides my C&C icons I use are a mishmash of other mods from various CMx2 games frankensteined together. Here is a screenshot of what I use, and a list of all the mods I use in addition to my C&C icons.

I loved the old misidentification of tanks and it is one of the (few) things I miss the most in the new iteration.

British uniform Mod is almost done, but a few glitches to fix and decisions to make. (For example...DPM camo too bright?) For photo-op purposes, the DPM uniformed and helmetted troops have MTP Gear, and vice-versa.  This Mod will have a complete set of uniforms, helmets, and gear in separate folders for both DPM and MTP camo. The photois show a few different camo schemes for the plate carriers/armor vests, but I'll settle on no more than two for each uniform set, propbaly simply just use both DPM and MTP camo for each set, unless anyone has a better idea.  I can do a follow up for specific unit shoulder insignias if anyone has a real hankering for some.
This Mod will be ready in a few days, hopefully.  Cheers!

That there is pretty much the wet dream of this entire community. Who knows, maybe they are secretly working on an entirely new engine all along and one day we will be pleasantly surprised.

I was honestly a bit annoyed by CM's rendition of the Germans firing their LMG's with one hand on the barrel, so I saw that US soldiers in the modern games seemed to hold the M240 closer to what a German GPMG should be.
So I swapped some files and voilà:

    Here's the download link:
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/vb8xtrx2j0mciau/mg42_anims.rar/file
Install it by unzipping it into the Z folder inside your data folder. Create it if you don't have one.
It should work for all CM2 games.

I posted about this around the time FB was released and maybe you can dig that thread up. IIRC it was kind of complicated and could yield some messy results with other in game text. Doable, but not worth the effort for me. But please try. I like to make menu screen mods and some pics don't work well with stock color.

I have, though not the old version but the new. I can't say conclsively that it helps or how much as I haven't done dedicated tests. But my impression is that it helps, especially in larger unit dense scenarios with weather effects added. It is quite easy to use. The only drawback is that some programs that you run might get reset to their starting point, like Acrobat Reader and iTunes.
