gibsonm
Would the weapons platoons jeeps fall into this same category? I would assume that they were used to move the heavy weapons foward just like the battalions anti tank platoon would use its jeeps to move the 57mm's forward. Sorry, not for me to say (one way or the other).
Rayak47
I vote for clean uniforms, one shade of helmet and getting the game out!! I'm also ready to pre-order just in case you need some extra Christmas money!
Chad Harrison
Sorry, not for me to say (one way or the other). Yeah, thats a question for the powers that be. Just really curious about all things TO&E/ORBAT for Normandy. Its just like how you could argue that all the Company level staff should be represented on the map for situations where the Compnay HQ is being potentially overrun. The US Rifle Co HQ was assigned 17 "rifleman", though I would wonder what their actual role was. So should they be represented as a specific unit under the Company ORBAT? No, I dont think so since 99 out of 100 times they would be in the rear literally protecting the kitchen Something like a jeep though, where it was assigned on the platoon level of a heavy weapons unit. Yeah, I would argue that he belongs because on a bigger map he would serve a very tangible role for moving those MG's and/or mortars around. See, you get talking about ammo questions and next thing we know we have someone screeming that we need a unit representing the company cooks! Battlefront.com
Our general rule of thumb for what gets included and excluded hasn't changed since the early days of CMBO development... if it is a combat formation, designed to be engaged in combat, it's included. If it is a non combat formation, be it in a larger combat formation or not, it isn't included as a rule. Jeeps that assigned to move heavy weapons are included. Soldiers who are assigned to scrub the dishes are not. Obviously real life isn't so clean cut as this, but we have to draw the line somewhere. Otherwise you'll get the M1A2 Field Kitchen instead of a M-18 Hellcat because we can't possibly do everything Steve

Cid250
Will the Wehrmacht soldiers carry their rifles in their dominant-hand during Quick movement as was the norm for such troops? You mean this way?
Cid250
Only problem there, German uniforms weren't grey in 1944. I understand the Dutch (or was it the Belgians?) nicknamed their occupiers 'cucumbers' due to their cucumber-green wool uniforms. Feld Grau is more like green-grey, not blue-grey. Feldgrau HEX: #4D5D53 RGB: 77/93/83 Yes, they were nicknamed cucumbers for a reason.
Scipio
... " beyond the scale of the current battle" That's a frequently used knockout argument, but I disagree. A typical combat mission battle is concentrated action and has nothing to do with the course of action in reality. Just as example lets take reinforcements. If not an extreme delay is set, they arrive ussually within few minutes after the expected arrival time. In real life it's not necessarily considered as delay if they arrive within the right hour. Lanzfeld
Will the Wehrmacht soldiers carry their rifles in their dominant-hand during Quick movement as was the norm for such troops? I doubt it. From what I am going to guess that would involve new animations and from what I am reading here that is too expensive and time consuming. I would love to see it. Not just Germans either. JoMac
Steve is right. At this level of gaming ( upto reinforced Company size engagments ), Just represent forward HQs & Support, and not rear HQs and their Support. We dont see this in CMx1, and so no need to see it in CMx2.

GDog
Thanks BF, this post made my Sunday morning! Looking at the last screen shot with the opening in the wooden fence, will a squad moving through that terrain use the opening shown in the image thus creating a bottle neck, or do they move through the entire piece of terrain like in CM1? sfhand
Forgive my ignorance, but are rifle squads going to be splittable? If so will there be as many options as currently allowed for a US rifle squad in CMSF? How about the Germans? I don't much about it as I'm not a grog, but I have read around these parts that the German infantry unit was organized around the MG42 (please let me know if I've got this wrong). Michael Emrys
The US Rifle Co HQ was assigned 17 "rifleman", though I would wonder what their actual role was. To provide local security, guard/escort prisoners, serve as runners (a vital but often overlooked function), assist with wounded and just generally provide extra hands where needed. Apache
Just a thought, bit bizarre I suppose, but, on the nostalgia front, it would be cool if the intro music for CM: Normandy, if not already decided, was either the same a CM:BO or a re-mixed version of it with the same vibe as CM:SF

Battlefront.com
No, we're not making special animations for German rifleman carrying their rifle one handed. It would be nice, of course, but I'd rather us spend our time fleshing out or improving other areas first. As for the fence opening, CMx2 already has literal movement through narrow openings, so yes... the little pixeltrupen do indeed go through the fence opening. Which creates a nice, natural choke point for enemy machinegunners Steve
Battlefront.com
Oh, and German infantry are divided up into two Teams, US three Teams. Both can be split up into two groupings. One group gets the "rifles" and the other gets the "LMG". In the event that there are two LMGs present, then one of the LMGs goes with the "rifles". This is about as close to actual doctrine that we could get. And it is, actually, quite close. Steve
panzermartin
I'm wondering what's taking longer than anything else to perfect..New vegetation? This and water are the most important changes to the visual engine I guess. I like the hazy horizon as well, hope its a default on all maps regardless of weather.
