  1. Sorry for my ignorance since I have time for the forum about once every six months. What is CM Helper? Thanks!
  2. I wish I'd read this a week ago, when I had sound contacts all over the place in "December Morning!" (SPOILER) I was all proud of myself reversing out and knocking out a King Tiger that hadn't spotted me at 1200m near the start, thought it was going to be a cake walk, then got bogged down. Need to get home from work and try out some reconnaissance by fire with this!
  3. Hey George, don't get me wrong I love the demo and scenario! I ended up with a total victory. I just had to regroup, and use a different strategy. Luckily the scenario gave me time. Also, despite my griping, the reaction to lasing definitely helps with the scouts who "smoke out" unseen threats, like ATGM teams, and live to mark the ATGMs for artillery strikes and keep on scouting. The demo definitely made me want to get the game, soon as I finish up all WWII campaigns! Great feel for modern warfare, and weapon systems. Now it's time for "a wee cheeky one" from your native land!
  4. Of course their's a chance they're about to get nailed. But to take one example of offense, how do your think Normandy would have gone for the allies if everyone popped smoke and ran back to the boats because someone aimed at them, which is what lasing essentially is? It sounds cold but to win at war everybody just can't pop smoke and run away because somebody is shooting at them let alone just aiming at them. You can't even do bounding overwatch if the guy your overwatching pops smoke and blocks your vision. Anyway it would be nice to have an override to tell 'em sorry you are going over the hill and you are going to rely on your armor, active defense, and superior numbers, and keep moving forward. That's what Patton and Zhukov would want! But, I guess that would be hard to model. So I've got to adapt to how they are going to react in the game and overcome!
  5. Took the offensive with my M1's in the demo scenario and when they topped a rise they all popped smoke and ran away as soon as they detected a laser. Kind of makes it hard to mount an attack. Is there a work around? Ran into the same thing scooting with the Bradley's; took chance they was no time to acquire and fire at them for the short time they'd be exposed on the route but nope, soon as a laser from the sole atom they (I) knew was there lit 'em up they popped smoke and scattered all over the place. Annoying...
  6. Time to find where I filed away CMSF NATO! Anyone have a good map representing the Kurdish controlled areas? The shipments will include 8,000 G36 assault rifles and the same number of G3 rifles, as well as ammunition; 200 Panzerfaust 3 bazookas and 30 long-range MILAN anti-tank systems; and five heavily armored Dingo infantry vehicles.
  7. Maybe, but I'm enjoying it for the first time!
  8. I recently read in "Deathtraps" by Belton Cooper that Patton successfully lobbied to put the Pershing program on backburner and dedicate production to Shermans because he thought tanks should bypass tanks and not go head to head?
  9. Duh'ya, I think so, as soon as I can get to a computer that allows me to download, darn computer security! Thanks!
  10. Is Battlefront willing to publish them in .pdf or allow someone else to do it? They were a great reference! Even if I knew how to do it, I can't find the old disks after my last two moves.
  11. Interesting, I've had them survive multiple 81 hits, even a couple 4.2 and never got close to kill with the 60's, as I would have expected. Lucky shot? I hate to risk the engineers, at least in campaigns, and tend to go with bazooka's on the bunkers, at least until flamethrowers come out!
  12. You're gonna love this, the action square they were in had an outhouse, the squad was set up around it, so I really didn't look at it as an obstruction and I didn't even notice on replay that one second it was there and then it wasn't. They blew the d--- outhouse and then ran off...It must have really stank! Wish I could save that one for posting...
  13. Thanks never had a wall in either CMSF or CMBN fail to blow either, I'll investigate along those lines and report back (or lose guys and/or time charging the street instead!
  14. Hi, I'm playing the Road to Montborg Campaign, Holding Action Scenario. In the one ville there are walls dividing it up. I had a team executing the blast command, attempt to blow a wall (wall, not a building), big blast and crater, but the wall stayed intact. Then the team completed move order by running around the wall into the kill zone they were supposed to be bypassing with the breach. Anyone else noted this? Are some walls unbreachable, bug? Usually I've seen teams stop and blow every obstruction in their path as long as they had charges. This team had one left but still ran around the wall rather than trying to blow it again, not sure what's up. I'd post the save but I have no idea how to do that. Thanks, if there's already a thread on it, sorry I missed and please let me know, thanks.
  15. I like it and the comment concerning on-board mortars. Seems like allowing the motars to spot and call their own fire pattern with a minimal delay would be a way to go.
