Geoff-Ludumpress reacted to Schrullenhaft in Issues installing CMBN - UI not found.
It looks like you're attempting to install starting with a version 1.x installer. Those do NOT work with Windows 10 due to the copy-protection not working properly with Windows 10. Instead, download the 4.0 Upgrade installer, which should be an all-in-one installer (all modules and patches). You will need to use the 3.0 Upgrade, 4.0 Upgrade and all of the module license keys you have to activate the game typically using the 'Activate Modules' shortcut that will be either on your desktop or within the game's main executable folder.

June 2, 1979, 0613 hours, Rulfenrod, West Germany
Remnants of a US mechanized infantry company push to establish a hasty defense as a bloodied armored cavalry troop withdraws through their line. Opposite of them, a combined Soviet forward patrol and vanguard battalion rally to maintain their momentum and pursue the battle in depth.

Geoff-Ludumpress reacted to CaptainTheDark in About to be overrun at the 2 Fahrbahns
The editors of Place magazine would like to issue the following redaction to our story of the Battle Of The Two Fahrbahns, appearing in yesterday's issue. Typographical errors were corrected. The Place regrets these errors.

Sometimes it's hard to believe that that kind of stuff is even real. The four sniper teams I had in that scenario took down 14 Germans by the end though.
Anyway, I am very glad I got Fire and Rubble when I did, because soon afterward my internet got knocked out for a week due to storms. I didn't have much else to do but play it.
The Night at the Opera campaign is good. Very atmospheric. Seeing green tracers flying across Konigsplatz was bringing back Red Orchestra memories.
The amount of firepower that the Soviets could bring to bear is kind of terrifying. My biggest concern in this campaign so far is not casualties but ammo usage.
A Soviet assault team comes over a rise only to run right into a couple squads of Fallschirmjager at close range:
The fight didn't last long though. After a couple seconds of heavy shooting, a 122mm shell slammed into the building, killing or wounding several Germans. Five of the Germans surrendered after that.
That was a typical encounter. Germans would reveal themselves only to be completely plastered by a massive storm of bullets and explosions. My casualties haven't even been that heavy, but I'm going into the second mission of the campaign with ammo problems. There are multiple entire platoons that are basically out of ammo. I also should have conserved my artillery ammo, because now I don't have anything to blow up the Reichstag with. Except tanks.

Geoff-Ludumpress got a reaction from Commanderski in Ost Front Books
This arrived today, it's the second edition of 'Bloody Streets'. For those 'Fire & Rubble' nuts (like me) this is 25 years research on the Battle for Berlin in one book, well two, as it comes with a separate map book.

NIGHT AT THE OPERA - Soviet - Bridge map bug?
My t-34 and my carrier were passing under the bridge on 'hunt' and then just teleported up onto the bridge. Is this a new secret Russian weapon or a map bug?
PS: It's a fu*ken great map and scenario love playing on it.

Geoff-Ludumpress reacted to MikeyD in Fire and Rubble Possible Bugs
Yup, previously squashed dead. One of the dangers inherent in compiling the game for release after many (MANY) Beta builds is there's the outside chance that an older copy of some small file may inadvertently overwrite a newer copy, undoing a previous bug fix. Then we get the conversation "Something's wrong with X? ...But I thought we fixed it already!" It doesn't happen often but you's guys get to see it every time it does.

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but if you are saying beutewaffen are only tracked if using standard German ammunition, that is clearly wrong. All holdings of weapons were tracked and reported, and higher HQ quatermasters tracked both total numbers on hand and ammunition available. Here is just one example from Pz.AOK 3 files:
Note, XXVIII A.K. had a total holding of 52 Russian SMGs using 7.62 (r) M.P. ammunition. We could then dig down into the individual kriegsgliederung for each unit where available and see where they were held.
