    So just spitballing:
A platoon of M1A2 Sep V3 come in around $100M to just buy the platforms.  To this add logistical costs (fuels, parts and repair tail).  Force generation costs - training areas and exercises. Force projection costs (strat to op lift reqrs).  Pers costs - 16 crew, plus logistics, plus admin overhead.  And weird intangibles like route and bridge repair in training areas.
This all scales up very quickly.  A fully autonomous UAS swarm Bn may need a staff of 16 and a logistics tail but is not going to weigh roughly 300 tons that has to be transported and fueled.  Even at 1 million a pop, a hundred fully upgunned and militarized fully autonomous drones are starting to look pretty damned competitive against current “beyond-Night One” systems.

Did you read my posts?  Why would ask that when I stated right there that I use it.  It doesn't change game play one bit.  It sure seemed like a simple question.

Just to add to this, as WW2 went on, it was common for combat leaders to use tactics that worked as opposed to following doctrine, which usually meant copying what the Germans were doing. So TC fought unbuttoned, fighter pilots followed Luftwaffe organization and tactics, infantry attacked in small groups with heavy AFV/artillery support, etc. Soviet HQ knew it and looked the other way, as long as it worked. This is confirmed by a lot of memoirs/histories.

Since BS has been more or less retired, I'm hoping for another modern like NATO vs Russia or Korea 2025. I'd also like a Cold War expansion updating to the late 80's and other seasons especially Winter.

Well usually I post my mentioned 2 houserules to my oponent and see if he agrees to them or not or if he wants to add anything.
When we do more games and rather frequently then we may add some more or not...depending on how serious we want to get. It´s just that simple for me. I don´t want to turn it into a religious contest or so. It is just to make clear that we are on the same page.

Well...it is unrealistic for a tank to instantly know and instantly shoot (by manual orders) at a place where a fireteam just encountered an enemy squad, especially when he is not seeing a thing. Artkin is right in that regard.
The command structure may be as good as it can be but it comes with a delay for sure. Just imagine you are sitting in a tank 500m away. Maybe you see the fireteam attacking and getting mowed down in the street, but no signs of the defending enemy. You could plaster the **** out of the area but you don´t know nothing at this moment. You don´t know where exactly the rest of the friendly platoon is, you don´t know where the enemy is. IF the platoon is in good radio contact with your tank you maybe get a clearance of the situation in the following minutes and start firing.
The thing is that CM don´t reflect the blindness of tanks and lack of situational awareness (when closed up) in this way...or let me say with players bypassing the spotting system it hardly feels that realistic.
And I don´t mean to offend somebody, I played and still play this way myself sometimes, just the way how serious I and my opponent want it to be. But calling it realistic is not right by any means.
I don´t want to ban area fire because there are realistic applications for it but reacting to troops the tank doesn´t know anything about is not it.

What about the people who do really gamey stuff?
There is a video by a once-prominent CMx2 YouTuber in which his opponent used trucks to both scout and be "bait" for the TacAI.  He was placing trucks near his armor in the obvious hope that opposing tanks would choose to fire at the trucks and thus open themselves to a retaliatory fire by his armor.  (It also appears he dismounted the truck drivers in order to keep TacAI from retreating the trucks (i.e. keep them in place as bait.)  Of course, that's allowable by game engine and maybe even "smart" gameplay, but it's a total cheese/gamey tactic.  (Frankly, if an opponent did that in one of my matches, then I'd never play that person again.)
Do people make house rules about the "appropriate" use of trucks/jeeps/damaged vehicles?

Top road had two waypoints, bottom only one. It's not even close! Keep in mind the vehicles on the top are keeping their speed so the difference is larger than the pictures show (Except for the last vehicles in the last picture). I used CMPE because the vehicles have very fast movement speeds.

I never place waypoints directly on road corners, only before and after them.
IMO the units drive smoother around corners this way, and dont lose as much speed.

Ok remade the Fullajah Map Jolan District and here are a few screenshots of it. Still adding some flavor objects and stuff. Would love to really add in a bunch of flavor stuff but it's a big map with a heavy population of buildings so don't want to slow everything to a crawl. Its dirty city, I tried to make it as accurate as the editor would let me. In reality a lot of the buildings were crammed in tight so I still needed it to be playable from the games stand point. But hopefully it will be fun to fight through. Now to get those 3/5 Marines busy.

Cool! Every day is a school day  Yup modern wheeled vehicles. As I said I hadn’t tested them - as context of my very limited ‘test’ was WWII tanks on a snow covered dirt road.
I take the point re speed on corners for wheeled vehicles. I don’t play CMPE and defo don’t really played wheeled vehicles. So I’ll put my hands up here.
Just to recap the video was for novices to give them a simple way to create a convoy that did not jam up or at least reduced the possibility. I fully appreciate experienced players  will fully leverage advantages such as speed on various road types in the game accepting additional complexity.

For 90 degree bends agreed. For curving corners makes no odds - the TacAI adjusts speed accordingly. If moving a lot of units in a convoy doing this will take forever. My approach enables the player to moves lots of stuff with min. effort. Its also simple (like me!) so IMO works well for thsoe new to CM.
There are LOTS of ways to achieve the desired endstate of a traffic jam free convoy. Usually for a convoy I'm less concerned re speed and more the unit makes it to where I want em to be without creating a clusterfcuk down the road... At heart I'm a lazy bugger
As I tend to play larger actions I tend to less micromanaging and tend to go with stuff that reduces the overall work load and achieves the desired effect.
The great thing is the game accommodates lots of different styles and every player evolves their own style to managing the admin associated with making stuff move and fight from point A to point B.

Combat Mission does a really bad job of telling you anything about the terrain, so often you don't know what you are driving on, but I've definitely seen things like Churchills and T-90s get bogged and immobilized in places they shouldn't. Try light snow for the Churchill and watch them all get stuck.

Four vehicles immobilized within 700m of the corner starting zone. One mtlb, one bmp-3, two t-90a. Everything except the bmp-3 was set to "normal" speed. Bmp-3 was set to "Quick".
This is completely insane, why haven't you guys fixed this yet. This isnt fun, nor is it realistic, it's a joke.

The only problem people have is a lack of communication. That's it. Other developers share their progress, we're lucky if we get more than one update.

Artkin reacted to Malaspina in The Buffalo Soldiers' Ordeal [all modules needed]
    Hello fellow CMFIers,
I’ve just finished compiling my second campaign (battle series) called “The Buffalo Soldiers’ Ordeal” (all modules needed). It is a battle series that includes a prologue and 8 scenarios aiming to reproduce some of the events that took place on the western edge of the Gothic Line from 8 to 10 February 1945, during Operation Fourth Term.
The nine battles (to be used in conjunction with @kohlenklau's Buffalo mod) are:
    0.    Prologue (Sommocolonia)
    1.    Raiders on Highway One
    2.    Strettoia
    3.    Ordeal on the Plains
    4.    Kesselring’s Ghosts
    5.    Assault on Monte Folgorito
    6.    Pushing to the Top
    7.    Georgia on My Mind
    8.    Castel Aghinolfi
Here are some pics to whet your appetite.

It is currently in a “pre-alpha” state and I’ll be soon testing it myself for the first time. It would be great if a couple of other players could test it as well. I’d just need to know some very general things, such as:
    -    Is the battle too  short / too long? Map too big / too small?
    -    Too many / too few troops?
    -    Too easy / too difficult?
    -    Any obvious mistakes?
    -    General impressions / improvements suggested?
    -    Etc.
It is a historical campaign but I'd still like it to be as enjoyable as possible. Drop me a line if interested.
    Thanks in advance!
