  1. I also bought it when it first came out. It got it's third reading this June. As much as I love Siborne's models, he was no historian.
  2. Sadly, I seem to find that using "Hide" when troops are in trenches doesn't help. They still flee out into the open when under enemy Arty fire.
  3. "Uncle Arthur, mum said, I don't have to use this because it's dangerous." "Wilson, what's the matter with Pike?" "He said that Mavis, I mean Mrs Pike, said that he doesn't have to use it because it's dangerous." "Stupid boy."
  4. Very interesting test. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  5. You should take up a career as a Film Reviewer. Your input has been so helpful.
  6. A gentle drone of the engine = In the area looking for a target. A roar of the engine = Coming in to attack. This will soon be followed by the sounds of machine guns, rockets, or a bomb. You might be lucky and only get attacked once. But that is something that only your human opponent, or the AI knows.
  7. Are the "CW Units" Canadians by any chance?
  8. I just create my own folders.. CMBN Battle Log 1.. 2.. CMBN Campaigns Log 1 ... etc etc.. I suppose I'm old fashioned.
  9. God, I had a full head hair when this came out. Ah, we were all so much younger then.
  10. A lazy piece of stereo-typing, that doesn't help anyone playing as the British or Canadians in CMx2.
  11. It was de Guingand's quote that I had in mind, but for some reason I thought it was Monty who said it. Thanks for your explanation of the background, I didn't know about the withdrawing of other divisions earlier.
  12. Pvt. Fitzsimmons :- "Field Marshall, how come themz there Auzzies have been allowed to go home, is it because yer faither was Bishop of Tasmania?" Monty :- "No, it was because their government took them back. Now, get on and polish your Bedford. And let's have no more of your cheek."
  13. Shame that there isn't a "Just let Steve and the boys in the band get on with it in their own way" option.
  14. Yes, that's right. The British also used the term "Cruiser Tank" for the Sherman, rather than the US "Medium Tank".
  15. It is where the gentlemen of Worcester take their good ladies on holiday, and buy them a handbag from La Maroquinerie.
  16. The Canadians did build a cruiser tank called the Ram. It was based on the US M3 chassis, but the body and turret was their own design, mainly because they didn't want to use a sponson mounted gun. The Mk1 had a 2-pounder gun, and the later Mk 2 carried a 6-pounder. It was soon replaced by the Sherman and was only used for training tank crews. Also, some Rams were converted to APCs, flamethrower tanks etc
  17. Haha.. No, it's a sign of being a geriatric punk. I always wear odd socks.
  18. Oh, no. I certainly wouldn't want to empty the museums. I was careful when I went to the Civil War Museum in NOLA to wear one blue sock and one grey one.
  19. It has to be acknowledged that modern day "Confederates" have to be the sorest losers in history. They can't get over losing the Civil War, and they can't get over losing to the Civil Rights Movement. As a Limey I'd be quite happy for Lee Circus in NOLA to be renamed Victory Circus, and to have a statue depicting the death of Ned Packenham. Most British tourists wouldn't know who he was anyway. Alternatively, name it Liberation Circus, and erect a statue of Admiral Farragut.
  20. I didn't know that there were any PZ1s still in Normandy by '44. Do you know the names of the units that had them at the time of the invasion?
  21. No offence, but give me "Stalin wasn't stallin'" anytime.
  22. Despite being born in Kent, and living in Bromley for nigh on 17 years. I wouldn't give Gosling the time of day. Never trust a man who rips off the image of Che, and turns it into an image of Christ. It shows a distinct lack of imagination, and a pandering to populism. His personality and politics aside, lets look at some facts. Jorrocks never ordered an "18-hour break". Also, it was the Vandeleur cousins who were nervous about making a night attack due to the proximity of German Panzer Jaeger infantry armed with both Fausts and Schrecks, who they described in their reports as "Bazooka Boys".
