  1. Hear, hear. He has given us some great stuff over the years.
  2. Oh no, in the words of the song, "It's too darn hot" down there for a red headed pom. In fact my plan would have us fit giant hedge trimmers to our ships. they'd slice off the green bits of Oz and leave the rest. Then we could slot one slice into the North Sea, one slice between The Hebrides and Scotland, another between Wales and Ireland, and the final piece between England and The Channel Islands, and Bob Hawkes is yer uncle.
  3. Oh dear. This is turning into a Limey nostalgia thread.... @ John Kettler The key word in my previous comment was "sub". Most of our town centre post offices were like the ones that you describe. But sub post offices are located either on housing estates, or out in the country, and they always double as a local store. And in a few very rare cases are even located in the village pub.
  4. It would certainly be a shame to lose your channel altogether. And as for slow internet, perhaps the Royal Navy could tow your penal colony back up here where we have great super fast broadband. Sorry that should have read, hopefully broadband providers in your proud independent nation will soon be giving you a better service.
  5. Apart from the very first one, I used to buy my Airfix kits from the local sub post office. Also, my sweets, Bazooka Joe bubble gum, penny chews etc etc. on a Saturday morning, making sure that I was home in time for Grandstand.
  6. I bought my first Airfix kit ( A Ju-87 Stuka) on 15th Feb 1971 the day we went decimal. It cost 171/2 pence. Ah, we were all so much younger then.
  7. That sounds spot on to me. I certainly don't like to move them in any closer than 200m.
  8. Not only as God intended, I suspect it was probably what Guderian had in mind as well.
  9. And just in case anyone was following it I have just found out that "Owennerd" has resumed his "Road to Montebourg" series after a very long break.
  10. This must be from the 20th July 1944. "Don't worry, Kamerad. Some of us are on your side now".
  11. I think that the amount of rest that he had might have depended on how many Panzer chocolates he had consumed.
  12. A five step plan to "help out" BFC...... 1. Buy a game that you like and let Steve and the boys in band run their own company the way that they see fit. And don't rubbish Armchair General, Ithikial etc. 2. See No.1 3. See No.2 4. See No.3 5. See No.4
  13. I've never had an "overwrite" message in any of the CMx2 WW2 titles. I hope that you get things sorted soon, Grunts.
  14. I can't answer your question, but i am glad that you raised it as I would like to know the answer myself.
  15. I have never felt the need to use a Mod Manager for CMx2. The "Z" folder system works perfectly for me. And for mods that I only use for specific campaigns or battles I just created my own folders outside of the game folders e.g. CMBN Mod House, CMRT Mod House etc etc. Then when I need them I slip them over into my "Z" folder and Bob's your Uncle as the old saying goes. Although in our family, Uncle Bob emigrated to Australia and became a Mormon, but I digress.
  16. Thank you Mad Mike for the above. When I was answering Leopold earlier I couldn't remember your name.
  17. I'm not a geography expert DaddyO but I don't think you and I count as being "antiipodean". But I enjoyed your comment anyway. Yes I'm a massive fan of Ithikial's work as well. In fact his videos are what got me back into war gaming. And we have enjoyed quite a bit of banter over the last couple of years.
  18. I've never heard of anyone from our antipodean colony as having "a winsome, fun personality" before, I almost spat out my morning coffee. When you watch his stuff just be careful not to mention The Ashes. Exits stage right even quicker than normal in case I cop a fist to my overly large Pommy mouth ----------------->
  19. Leopold you will need to download the CMx2 ScAnCaDe software. I think that the latest version is v1.9 but there could be an even more recent one to take into account the new v.4 game engine. This software was originally available from the repository on here, if it no longer available try cmmodsiii/greenasjade. Also you did used to need java to run it and that might still be the case.
  20. As an "against the AI" player since CMBO's "Ham and Jam", I have always played stand alone battles in chronological order, and always Axis first, Allies second (Something I also did with the old style "operations"). Then I compare how I fared in the two. With this particular battle having been away for a couple of days I'm only about ten minutes into it playing as the Axis, but already it is turning into a very interesting variation of the original version. A great piece of work.
  21. For short brilliantly crafted action videos then yes Panzer Pajamas is your man. If you want more in-depth minute-by-minute commentary of both single battle or campaign missions then I would heartily recommend both "Jamies Games" and "Ithikial". Happy Viewing!
  22. Could be that you are reading the wrong line of the description? It should include both words like this...... Mission = Smoke Duration = Short (or whatever you have set it to.) Effect = General
  23. Given that the OP was making an honest comment on his views about Armchair General's reaction to the release of Final Blitzkrieg perhaps it might be better for all of us if this trying to tell Steve and the other boys in the band how to run BFC was knocked on the head. I for one come to this forum to gain insight on CM's WW2 titles from better players than myself. I don't visit the CMSF or CMBS forums and try to tell them to play WW2 instead. Likewise I'm not interested in what other company's do, or don't do to promote their own products. And I would never visit their websites and try to tell them what to do. In fact just the other day someone told me that Combat Mission was for boring old farts who are happy to buy a game with rubbish graphics and a useless UI, sadly it didn't end well.
