  1. Just added it to my Netflix queue. Thanks for recommending.
  2. It almost has up until now. M.A.D. requires all participants to abide a mostly shared rational; that winning is a zero sum game and that Nuclear War is a game no one can really win . It appears that little Kim no longer thinks this is the case.
  3. Unfortunately, Slenderman is associated with a tragic outcome in my neck of the woods. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slender_Man_stabbing) Life imitating art, perhaps?
  4. The Firefox fix doesn't seem to work anymore. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fir...d-fix/?src=api gave me the following message. We're sorry, but we can't find what you're looking for. The page or file you requested wasn't found on our site. It's possible that you clicked a link that's out of date, or typed in the address incorrectly.
  5. For PBEM, I favor The Few Good Men - http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/
  6. It seems the folks producing their recently released "Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock" agree with @IanL Check it out on Steam or Youtube.
  7. Yep, they'd respond as best they can to neutralize such a threat. Yes, in military terms for battle behavior, "trained" is another verb for "aim", "fix", "point", and such. Specific to weapons, it is the act of bringing the gun(s) to bear upon a target. Once "trained", guns will "engage" (shoot) until the target is "neutralized" (destroyed).
  8. You're welcome for the help. Real men use Photoshop. I just limp with GIMP. Most of what I cared about at this point involved "images" (scaling to valid size for scenario briefings) and 24-bit *.bmp saves. There are Youtube tutorials. Note - one thing I found with GIMP is that the colors were off in CM. I fixed that by opening the 24-bit image again in a Windows picture/image editor, making an insignificant change, then saving. This "touch" brought back the correct colors in CM.
  9. Get GIMP, an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It has many capabilities. It will take a little bit of time to understand and become comfortable. Open the desired image file in GIMP and in the "file" command of the menu bar, export, not save, to another image file name ending in .bmp and, when prompted, use "advance" save settings to save as 24-bit *.bmp.
  10. Me too. I recall 24-bit as the correct format for all Combat Mission graphics.
  11. +1 @JonS. Thank you and please keep them coming.
  12. @SLIM Doesn't Exhaustion/Fatigue affect morale under fire? Specifically, when taking fire or being suppressed, don't "Tired" troops bug out sooner and faster than "Rested/Ready" ones might?
  13. Check nothing, just join and become a member there! FGM is well worthwhile, especially when ready to play H2H but certainly for many other reasons too. Hope to see you there.
  14. CMODSIII. It has a search function. There are others but start here http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?page_id=5#search/text=horizon I think Aris mods are best - http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=1474
  15. Me neither. Good stuff to know. Thanks for cross-posting here.
  16. Going forward, the best way to keep an older version of a CMx2 game is to copy the current install version in another directory before any updates (a good default practice before doing any application upgrades), then apply the upgrade. The result will be two (2) versions of the game on your computer. You can create seperate desktop icons from each ".exe" file and you can configure CMHelper to point to each separate ".exe". In my case, I have CMBN v3.12 in one directory and CMBN v4.00 in another. This allows H2H play against opponents who may not have upgraded.
  17. @Battlefront.com Steve, can you provide any updates on that "other stuff"? Maybe the a 90-day window for releasing the w.i.p. final CMFI module? If not, good luck and best wishes getting all that other stuff done successfully. Thanks for the fine games.
  18. LOL! I think the active missile defense mode John referenced occurs at -0:18 when the NFA's front rank starts using their gladii to deflect incoming nerf tubes . . . I suspect one might only be able to use beagles or dachshunds to test the strength of the Northwest Fencing Academy's Testudo formations . . . More seriously, as Bil points out, the Roman engineering approaches to war provided options not possible with Macedonian, Thracian, or Hoplon shields.
  19. Still works in process but on hiatus at the moment while team lead @Ithikial_AU is absent from home and vacationing a fortnight in northern Europe. Ten (10) missions (individual battle scenario's) are in the works. Eventually we would like to link into a contigious campaign although the battles involved a multitude of different units so a campaign "core" unit is yet to be determined. One scenario is pretty much developed and play-tested by @Rinaldi. Maps and OOB's are done for a few others. The real heavy lifting will be H2H balancing and AI programming. Nothing is ready for release yet. Don't expect to see anything substantive until 2018. (Gosh, that sounds a bit like Battlefront doesn't it . . . ). Bottom line is that this is still an active, albeit ambitious, FGM (http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/) project.
  20. See middle of page 3 in CMRT Lend-Lease stuff coming soon thread. On 7/6/2017 at 9:44 AM, Battlefront.com said: Not sure how the news came here about Chris' departure. That only became official last week. So here's the official scoop... As of last week Chris is on a leave of absence due to burn out. Anybody who has ever worked remotely, without the daily routine interactions with Humans (or close equivalents!), knows that it's easy to do. Especially for something like game development. Very, very few people are wired to handle it long term. Unfortunately, Chris is in the majority on this one Burnout is pretty normal for the games industry, even when working in an office environment. No matter how laid back management is, the work is intense and comes with a fair amount of pressure. The fact that we've never had anybody work for us for less than 5 years is pretty damned good. Chris was at the 5 year mark, plus a couple of years of part time work before that. It's uncertain if Chris can, or even should, rejoin us on a full time basis. His heart wants to, for sure. My hope is that eventually he can return to work with Combat Mission on a part time project basis. As you all know, he's pretty much kick arse and will be sorely missed. I can also confirm that he's 10 times more awesome as an employee than he is a content creator. I'm offline for a few days, so no follow ups from me for a bit. The above pretty much speaks for itself anyway. Steve Then see top of page 5 in that same thread Sadly, Rome To Victory is the one project most affected by Chris' departure because it was unusually dependent upon his scenario work for the campaign. Usually we have the work more dispersed, but this one was mostly on him. Which probably contributed to the burn out. We're VERY far along in many ways, but the content is still in need of quite a bit of work. Steve
