  1. @Mord - which mod name? Can you post the CMODSIII URL for them? Thanks.
  2. Rats, @Mord! I was interested in checking those out. Snooze and lose; a day late and a dollar short, it seems. My beer is always warm too . . . Am glad everything worked out for @Swant
  3. You're welcome @CanuckGamer. No, installing a mod should not screw up the game; it's just a "skin". To see mods, create a "Z" folder in your game's "Data" directory and copy the desired mods into that "Z" folder. The files inside "Z" will load last when the game initiates. The contents of that folder will then overly base code ("vanilla") skins. @Mord correctly notes that most mods do not change with engine/patch updates. The exception was "uniform" mods/skins (v2.00 to v3.00 if I recall correctly). If you want to learn more about moddable file "skins", play around with the RezExplode tool in the CM game "Mod tools" folder. It can tell you the file names the game uses when "painting skins" at start up. @Mord is also correct when he points out that adding mods is addictive! Well worth it, though (<cough> everything by Aris, Juju, and Vein <cough>).
  4. I recall that there can be only one "type" of uniform assigned or modded in a game; things like "infantry", "airborne", "ranger", and such. If this scenario uses a "regular" infantry unit to represent the 2/325 Glider Infantry instead of an "airborne" unit, it will use the same uniform for glider and regular infantry troop types. To verify, consider the following: Open this battle in the scenario editor and see how the GIR was selected and named. Run the CMBN game "Rezexplode" utility and check the USA uniform outputs to see every USA uniform type the game uses. Based on what you discover, you may (or may not) be able to make the change you desire. For what it's worth, glider troops were often underrated by their peers, so let them march on and accomplish the mission with whatever uniforms issued! Good luck and let us know how things turn out.
  5. @CanuckGamer, are you referring to this game's "horizon"? There are several horizon mods available at Green As Jade's "Combat Mission Mods III" site. I prefer the ones by Aris. See URL = http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?page_id=5#search/text=horizons. I prefer the ones by Aris.
  6. @Gazmaps, consider joining The Few Good Men (FGM) for PBEM requests; http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/. It has a very active H2H PBEM community which might respond readily to your request.
  7. Didn't realize that. Thanks for pointing it out. Gave you my heart as well . . .
  8. @Mord, welcome back! Missed you, man! Am a big fan of yours and DC's unit portraits. Look forward to seeing you around.
  9. Second question first: I think (but someone else should confirm) that v4.00 is the version automatically provided in new purchases. If not, the Master Installer process upgrades v3.1x users up to v4.00 using the purchased upgrade key. First question second: For myself, CMBN provides the most value for your money. As the oldest title it enjoys more user made scenario's, campaigns, and mods than any of the other WW2 games. Otherwise go with the theater and time-frame you desire most to play (MTO '43, ETO '44 or '45, Ostfront '44). Which pixeltruppen do you prefer to command and against which adversary do you prefer to lead them? I own CMBN with all modules, CMFI/GL, and CMFB. After CMBN, CMFI is my second favorite. I don't own CMRT because I'm not an Ostfront fan per se and there's already so many games and so little time.
  10. It looks gorgeous and is visually impressive. Given that is a multi-player only game keeps me away from it. The appeal of Combat Mission for my money is positioning the player as a (typically) platoon or company level battle planner and unit commander in solo AI or single human opponent play. Hell Let Loose seems geared to a different gaming experience.
  11. Have you tried running CMHelper Reset? I think Microsoft is pushing out patches to Win10 this week and next. Sometimes that corrupts CMHelper until reset. Go to URL = http://gregories.net/CMHelper/User Manual/CMHelper.html Here is the "Recovery after crash" instruction. Good luck and let us know what solved your problem. Occasionally, if you have a crash of your computer, it will leave CMH in a state where it can't run anymore. To recover from this, you need to do one of two things. Either: a. Run CMH from a command prompt with the reset-state option DOS> cmh.exe reset-state OSX> ./cmh.app reset-state or b. Delete CMH's AppState.txt file At the top of the log window (Options->Show Log Window) CMH tells you where the log file is stored - the AppState.txt file is in the same place. If you can't access the log file, you will need to search your disk for AppState.txt. Under Windows it is usually in a place like: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\GreenAsJade\CMHelper\ Under OSX it is usually in a place like: /Users/username/Library/Application Support/GreenAsJade/CMHelper/
  12. @Aragorn2002 / @George MC Would either of you be so kind as to make said documentation available to those who might ask via PM? Thank you.
  13. @grunt_GI expresses my sentiments too. I struggle understanding the AI well enough to confidently embrace designing scenarios.
  14. I did this and did not see any TOE changes in a v3.12 scenario which I upgraded to v4.00. I think you should be fine after you upgrade. I suspect you are thinking of the TOE changes which occurred between v1.00 and later versions and want to avoid those issues. SUGGESTION: Before upgrading to v4.00, copy your entire Combat Mission folder to a different directory on another drive. Then you will retain both a v3.12 version and a v4.00 version for such comparisons.
  15. @Battlefront.com If you need a volunteer to ping you every 30 days from a last previous update, please let me know . . . Based upon your comment about a forthcoming bone tonight, I am happy to pencil in 11am 11-November as "Ping Battlefront Day". Veterans Day seems quite apt for that.
  16. Please clarify. Did it fail to work using mod tag [28thID]? If so, what mod tag value worked correctly for you?
  17. There are "dealership" mods but they don't cover everything you seek. See URL = http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?page_id=5#search/text=dealership As a way of introducing yourself to the game, consider viewing the Armchair General tutorial videos. Good luck and good gaming!
  18. I'm currently playing CMBN "The Outlaws" by Eric Lee using v4.00 specifically to help me understand the game better than I do. http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=1279 It's the first campaign I've ever played. I like how I can pace myself and I am enjoying it. It starts very small and subsequent battles grow little by little. It follows an historical narrative. Others recommend "The Devil's Descent" which I haven't played but is next on my list. http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=1165 Good luck and good gaming!
