  1. Shades of "Aliens" and my favorite military SF author. These aren't Redliners so I suspect The Forlorn Hope at The Sharp End. PM sent.
  2. Okay, I will when you release it. I recently played TDSII CMBN scenario "MG The Wrong Tool for the Job" (http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/combat-mission-battle-for-normandy/cm-battles-for-normandy/mg-the-wrong-tool-for-the-job/). It uses a similar approach; initial assets that receive supplementary forces as time progresses. I really liked it because it did not overwhelm me with deploying for a big battalion all at once. The author describes it as a small scenario which is why I played it. By the end of the game it more closely resembles a medium sized battle. For me, that's a better way to develop larger battles; set them up to engage with a manageable (no more than a company) sized predetermined initial force and grow it organically as the situation develops. Good luck with "Kasserine Rearguard".
  3. Real Life just doesn't afford me any time for big battles. One of the many I reasons I never volunteer to play-test them. Small scenario's however, really appeal to me. Would love to see as many of them as designers can crank out. Am also much more inclined to help play-test these small ones at The Proving Grounds II (http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tpg2/). Good luck with this and please keep us posted. Thank you for your time and efforts.
  4. I enjoyed this and posted my comments at TSDIII - http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/search-2/#search/text=itchy Nice scenario. Are you doing / have you done any others? I'd enjoy playing more of your scenario designs. Thank you for a fine effort.
  5. Vewy, vewy, vewy good news indeedy! Thankee kindly. Soon is never soon enough. We'se awaits wit' baited breaths . . . .
  6. @ChrisND, Battlefront's been very very quiet lately. Usually that's a good thing. Any updates since last year on the next CMFI module? Good hunting! "It's wabbit season, and I'm hunting wabbits, so be vewy, vewy quiet! " Thank you.
  7. @kohlenklau, can you show the Googel Earth contour line process and settings process you describe? I've spent no time with it and would appreciate your lessons learned. Pointing to tutorial URL's or video's would help just as well. Thank you.
  8. Dear John, NLOS does not ring a bell with me. I think you might be mistaking me for Badger Dog (whom you seem to remember quite fondly). My acronym google-foo is weak today. What was NLOS? With regard to your doctor's suggestion, I'm not sure H2H play provides a better chance of winning nor do I think that winning matters for your therapies. If the goal is cognitive exercise, I suggest that game re-play lessons learned might be more effective for such purposes. Given what you now know in this encounter, consider going back to an earlier save-game and apply the intelligence you've gleaned to readjust your battle planning. Your immediate goal seems to be less about winning or losing but more about concentration, pattern analysis, and problem solving. Most of all just play and have fun. Laugh at your setbacks. Gleefully strive to consistently repeat your successes. Humor is wonderful therapy as well.
  9. Consider using The Proving Grounds II (http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tpg2/) as another place to post this scenario and solicit feedback. Sometimes Dropbox shuts down high traffic downloads. TPGII might prove worthwhile for you. Will check this out. Thank you for your efforts. Good luck with it.
  10. Same Scenario - different general question: HOW DOES CMBN COUNT THE TROOP NUMBERS SHOWN IN THE END GAME AFTER ACTION REPORT DISPLAY? My experiences with this scenario is that the total numbers displayed in the AAR exceed the number of troops deployed in the battle. Am I mistaken? * * * * SPOILER ALERT * * * * Move along if you don't want to spoil the game for yourself * * * * The scenario I played consisted of the following troop counts: - British = 1 platoon totaling 37 men - Germans = 1 section totaling 15 men The AAR display for a recent H2H game displays as follows. In this case please disregard the monumental British cock-up outcome . . . . British German 14 OK 23 17 KIA 0 19 WIA 1 1 MIA 0 =================== 51 TTL 24 These results overstate the numbers deployed; end game British are overstated by 14 (38%) and Germans by 9 (60%). What caused the inflated values? Please note that I doubt this discrepancy is of the scenario designer's making. The overall AAR level of victory outcome looks correct. How is CMBN doing the math? Thank you. * * * * SPOILER END * * * * If you skipped the post, accept this non-PG offering of amusement instead
  11. It appears your medicinal regime is producing beneficent effect. May it continue to promise positive prognosis.
  12. I concur that it's YAHOO, not Battlefront. As said, in Firefox (and Chrome) change your default search engine to something other than Yahoo.
  13. Dear John, I'm sorry to say you misremember your well enjoyed CMBS game. I only own the CMBN and CMFI game families. I do not own or play CMBS. You and I have never played each other. I wish I could take credit for your fond memories though. The only thing you can blame me for is the anonymous gift receipt for the "CM BfN & CW Bundle" you received 7/23/2012 when constrained by fixed income and under disability. Enough time has elapsed for you to resolve that mystery. I'm glad you've kept it up to date. Go now, play it, and enjoy! Good luck and good gaming.
  14. Please allow me a foolish question. What's the "Design Load" difference on the player between the Modern and WW2 Combat Mission games? I only own and play CMBN and CMFI. Command & Control = C2. When I wore US issued baggy green outerwear, the doctrine was 3CI; Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence. I've been out of uniform a long time but now see mention of "C4I2" – Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, & Interoperability as well as "C5I" – Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Collaboration and Intelligence. That said, would CMBN be of less taxing complexity but provide more effective longer duration cognitive activities for John's purposes? I guess I'm asking whether CMBN/FI/RT/FB are simpler mouse traps with which to tinker than CMSF/Afghan/BS?
  15. Take your daily medicine, John! It's good for you.
  16. I know Pierrefitte-en-Cinglais is his. I thought it was excellent and would heartily welcome more like it.
  17. Check out CMMODSIII URL = http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?page_id=5#search/text=SdKfz+251. There are 2 for CMFI and 3 for CMBN which might be CMFI compatible. Play around and let us know
  18. Understood about Mods in "Z" and battle in "Scenario" folders. One download link is most helpful. To me, the best way to promote Afrika mods is as a bundle for each scenario which includes the *.btt battle with everything else "Z" folder related together. Otherwise people months from now won't know what ties together and how to do it. Thanks again.
  19. Thank you for your efforts on Sid Bou Zid. Look forward to playing when ready. Will all the other Afrika Mods be packaged with it?
  20. @MOS:96B2P, I found this an excellent scenario as well! The defense was cunning and brutal. Your plan was sound. Smoke is essential. The Combat Engineer teams are critical to victory. Bulletpoint did a wonderful job. I also recommend this scenario highly. I look forward to more by him.
  21. Nice find. Thank you. Your scenario leaves me a little unsnapped. I hope you won't wind up fumbling around.
  22. Terrific video! Excellent integration of board game counters and game footage to tell the narrative. Superb graphics utilizing very effective mods. Kudos to whomever created. Very nice indeed. Thank you for posting.
  23. Thank you, rocketman. I took your suggestion as soon as you posted it, found some recommendations, and applied them. The game still won't work correctly. On a new Windows 10 Home Edition o/s, updated CO2 to CurrentVersion=5.1.28. The only time the game will work for me is when I run it as the first application after starting or restarting my computer. After I quit that first session, the game won't run and the "CmdOps.exe has stopped working" message appears. I submitted a support request a week ago and have heard nothing back. Seems my only recourse is to play Combat Mission games more instead! Que sera, sera . . .
