Honestly @CarlWAW I'd insult you, but I'm not quite sure you're worth the effort. You're basically self-defeating at this point.

Didn't sound like he attacked anybody to me. Sounds like he is trying to bring some positivity to the table in the midst of all the negativity that's been posted lately. But apparently you aren't gonna let the rotten b****** get away with it.

Perhaps YOU don't even exist. I don't bloody care. I most certainly don't like your malicious, paranoid comments. I just want to enjoy these great games, get some decent information from time to time from my favorite gaming company and be able to look forward to coming releases.

There's a lot of videos and memes being thrown around on these boards of late.  It's a bit like a classroom when the teachers aren't around (I'm looking at you Battlefront!)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Level_of_detail
Files that have an .mdr extension are models. The ones that have lod written into the filename are versions of the same model but in decreasing detail. They are used instead when games do not need to show the object in maximum detail, such as when the viewpoint is far away from the object, and so they use these lower detail versions to save performance.
    For example when opening them up in Blender;
smod_british_helmet-para.mdr, the helmet model using 199 vertices, 520 edges, 320 faces
smod_british_helmet-para-lod-1.mdr, the helmet model using 156 vertices, 396 edges, 240 faces
smod_british_helmet-para-lod-2.mdr, the helmet model using 73 vertices, 172 edges, 100 faces
smod_british_helmet-para-lod-3.mdr, the helmet model using 61 vertices, 140 edges, 80 faces
smod_british_helmet-para-lod-4.mdr, the helmet model using 37 vertices, 76 edges, 40 faces
smod_british_helmet-para-lod-5.mdr, the helmet model using 16 vertices, 30 edges, 16 faces
You can see that with each model for this helmet the detail (number of vertices, edges, faces the models made up from) decreases. Having the most detail smod_british_helmet-para.mdr would be the one being used when your viewing the unit close up. And smod_british_helmet-para-lod-5.mdr having the least detail would be used when the viewpoints very far from the unit.

All the beta testers on here would tell you BF's plate is full.
Also, since Steve has only posted once since March 20th, that's historically been a good sign that news is coming in the not too distant future.

My hope is for CMFI-module combined with V4 patch during Q2...Anything else would be a possitive supprise...
IIRC it was stated that Chris ND was initially pretty much the lone scenario/campaign designer for the upcomming CMFI module (he has since left the Company)...
After reading Benparks most recent comments on the development it kind of seems like he is 'the main man' for the CMRT-module...
If the playable contents for these modules is pretty much a one man job (apart from testing offcourse) it is not all that strange that things are progressing rather slowely...
Designing a single scenario is a pretty big task...designing something like 10-15 scenarios and maybe 2 or 3 Campaigns is....
    A somewhat BIGGER task
I guess this 'hold-up' we have been experiencing will soon be over and we will se the release of a number of stuff...in a pretty short timeframe..
    Happy times ahead, hopefully

This is the latest piece of information being shared as far as i know...
A respons made by Benpark a few days ago after demands for more information in the CMRT forum...
"I'd rather eat a fully cooked meal than one that is raw in the middle that "looks okay from the outside".
I've got the RT module well underway- The module is being worked on nearly every day, and has been for well over a year now. But there is still more to be done in order to show people something that incorporates the cool new stuff. Otherwise you get weird, untextured bits, bugs and weird game behaviors when you weren't prepared to show something. THAT causes problems, and opens up questions that are really a waste of everyone's time, because that's not how the game will look by release.
Getting everything slotted in, in the right way takes a loooooong time and is a huge amount of effort, to say nothing of- planning the module, making the maps (the maps!), making the campaigns, building the scenarios, testing, 2D artwork, 3D artwork, testing, testing, TESTING everything. And so on.
PR may not seem to be the main effort (the crew is too small for that now)- but the games are. That may put some people off that like updates, and I do get it- but within reason. We all like to see the new stuff, I'm the same in that respect.
Really- I would love to show off some things we have nearly done or are complete. But there are other parts that aren't slotted in or in progress, so it would screw everyone up to see them in that state- and give an inaccurate representation of a huge amount of effort. I'm sure Steve would respond "When it's ready....", which is the best, most honest answer that can be given. You can take that as frustrating, or as a truly honest answer- but it is indeed the truth, regardless.
I think I've said all I can say at the moment. Hang in there. The games are coming, and the extra time isn't being wasted. There is constant work being done, to a very high standard on every aspect of the various BFC endevors."   and   "There can be no screenshots until art is all in place. Otherwise, it will look an awful lot like RT in too many places, and most people will not get that. There is indeed information in my post- that there can't be screenshots without a certain level of art assets slotted in. This title is 3rd on the roster, I believe- so we will see screenshots of the other two titles prior, I would expect.
So, no screenshots for a while yet."   There have also been some simple coments made from other people... beta testers etc.. that work are indeed progressing on several other projects...Among other things some pictures from the CMFI module have been shown...   I guess that the issius with the V4 upgrade have to some degree hampered the development of the forthcomming modules...but every indications are that they are indeed comming... Hopefully fairly soon...

Since you and some other people here keep repeating themselves, allow me to do the same, sburke. We would already be satisfied with some screenshots. Bud has already been so kind to do that for the new Italy module and the reactions are mainly polite and grateful. Benpark's 'update' is just a repetition of what we are hearing for years now. It adds nothing and his time would be better used if he posted some screenshots. Again no offence, Ben.
I'm not asking for a release date or a complete TOE, although it worries me that simple facts like that are STILL not known. Just some simple screenshots of the new CMRT module, people. Stop making things so complicated.

This topic came up in a different thread.  I moved the topic to this thread to not further derail the original.
An African Mod pack was created for CMSF 1 which allows many scenarios to be created for the various conflicts, bush wars and proxy wars on the continent.  I don't know if it will work in the new CMSF 2.  If not possibly a new, updated one could be created.  To show what this mod can do are a few screenshots from @Combatintman's Operation Barras set in Sierra Leone.
Here is a link to the scenario: http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/cm-shock-force-2/cm-shock-force/op-barras-a-coy-1-para-sierra-leone/

Really looking forward to CMSF 2.

As many have noted before, BFC is just a couple of dedicated guys (and a disembodied brain in a jar) with a vision and mad hacker skilz, working at remote secure locations offworld, guarded by Space Lobsters and Waffelgrenadiere clones.
They are the only shop that attempts to marry the tactical hex and counter wargames most of us grew up on with the look and feel of tactical shooters. The customer market is "niche" but also extremely particular, as are the designers. To paraphrase Conrad: "They are 'one of us'."
So to use the ancient pillars of project management: Cost, Scope and Schedule (and in the real world, you can only really have 1 and part of another)....
with limited budgets and artisan quality required, time must be BFC's slack variable.
No need to be shocked. There are plenty of fantastic tactical shooters out there to divert yourself with in the meantime, but they won't scratch our particular itch.
    Patience!

Yes I agree, it is a different audience, but the entire gaming audience is where you get new customers from. You can't flourish without a new customer base. Some may look at the Post scriptum game and try the demo because the game "looks so pretty".They get hooked, buy the game and start playing, now CM is cut out. They are cut out do to time constraints, customers only have a finite amount of time in a day to enagage in video games. These customers wont even try CM now, sadly because most humans buy based on looks. And I have no problem at all with CM graphics, BF  just needs to "up their game" (like they did from CM1 to CM2 )for the potential customer who does. Im sure this is no great revelation to BF.

It's one of the reasons am hoping that CM3 is well in the works.  Most grog players are not primarily concerned about graphics - that is a different market.  The gamers concerned mostly with graphics may never enjoy the complexity/sim quality of CM2.  But, yes, the CM2 graphics are essentially from 2007 CMSF.
By now BF must have collated a huge list of improvements and wish list items that may not be practicable with CM2.
CM1 was obsolete (altho still fun to play) in 8 years.  CM2 is now 11 years old.  Say no more...
