"Black Market Sold Drones Used in Russian Base Attack"
    https://www.thedailybeast.com/black-market-sold-drones-used-in-russian-base-attack
"... days before the unique, jury-rigged drone bomber surfaced in the attack, a seller in a rebel social media arms market based in Syria’s Idlib province posted an advertisement for an identical-looking model of rickety homebrew drone along with similar munitions, casting serious doubt on Moscow’s tales of high tech transfer.
    ...
... the black market drone advertisement, posted on Dec. 31 in a Telegram arms market where rebels trade everything from motorcycles to machine guns, suggests that the weapon may have been available to any rebels who had the cash to buy it. The seller offered the drone alongside two small, grenade-sized munitions. “Brothers,” the author wrote next to pictures of the weapons, “reconnaissance plane which drops shells for sale.”
    ...
In a Facebook post after the air base attack, Russia’s defense ministry wrote that its electronic warfare systems defeated six of the drones and that its Pantsir air defense systems shot down an additional seven during the attack. Photos accompanying the post reveal a nearly identical drone to that seen in the Telegram arms market with the same boxy fuselage covered in green plastic wrap and tape, capped by a wood casing surrounding the engine.
Captured munitions from the photos posted by the Russians also show starkly similar munitions to the ones offered on Telegram, with semi-transparent casings, white plastic fins, and a thick metal hook to attach them underwing. The bombs contain “BB’s embedded in epoxy around an explosive core and then placed in an aerodynamic plastic shell,” says Nick Waters, an analyst who researches for Bellingcat, an investigative journalism nonprofit. “They were designed for fragmentation rather than destroying planes.”
But the Hmeimim incident wasn’t the first sighting of that particular model of slapdash drone in the wild. On Jan. 1, the day after the black market drone posting, Saray al-Areen, an Assad regime-aligned militia, posted pictures of another identical drone with similar munitions fragments on its Facebook page, writing that it had captured “two aircraft with munitions outside of Qeraha and Jablah,” villages not far outside the Russian air base at Hmeimim. “The explosions heard today at noon are the results of these shells,” the group advised.
The capture followed a New Year’s Eve attack on Hmeimim which killed two Russian troops and which Russian authorities subsequently described as a mortar attack.
Then again on Jan. 2, wreckage from what appears to be another of the same model drone surfaced in a separate attack. The Russian publication Rusvesna published pictures of wreckage sporting the same same green tape, plastic and plywood-covered engine, claiming that the aircraft had been launched by the Islamist Ahrar al-Sham rebel group at a Russian military engineers’ training facility in northern Homs province before being shot down by local troops.
The aircraft has a unique, improvised design, which doesn’t appear to come from any known commercial models or kits, suggesting a stronger connection between the drone offered for sale on Telegram and the models captured by Russian and Syrian forces. “From what I can see, this ‘drone’ was fabricated using wooden parts and tape. Perhaps the servos and engine were purchased online, although it’s more likely been scavenged from a model airplane,” says Mike Blades, a drone industry analyst at Frost & Sullivan."

No, because if they had to expand it we would not have gotten it at all.   This is one of those where you either see the glass as having something of value, or you simply get no glass.
Considering BF is already going to be discounting this for all current CMSF owners and they aren’t even sure financially how it is going to work out, the fact that they even decided to do this for all those who are avid CMSF fans is pretty awesome. It is an amazing demonstration of their appreciation for their user community and a major undertaking on their part. To try and put a negative spin on that is kind of lame.

Goodness, my apologies if I misunderstood this.  I am very sorry about that and to have sullied you in any way.  I was surprised to see someone call for lefties to be killed here and perhaps over-reacted since I didn't understand it.  Some of us in the US are a bit sensitive these days when, for example, man that can actually start nuclear war tweets about actually starting nuclear war.
I'll leave it and that and return more to listening to the forum than talking.

Oh dear. You seem to not to understand irony.
I slip in and out my alter ego's personality many times on this forum. And as mentioned previously on this site if I'd have been around at the time of the Putney Debates, I would have been one of those "strung up".
You might even wish to go back to Page 3 of this thread where I make my real views on Fascism crystal clear, via the late great lefty Woody Guthrie.

Cheers, mate. Yes, back in 2012 I did a CMBN scenario based on the 27th Division's landing on Makin Atoll (contemporaneous with bloody Tarawa), since it was very well documented and a reasonable scale of action, plus there were no flamethrowers available (as was the case with CMBN version 1).
Once you reach high water the atoll is pooltable flat other than manmade taro pits, so to prevent ridiculous amounts of keyholing through the overgrown palm plantations I used randomly scattered Low Bocage tiles. It worked out quite well and was a challenging fight. Rapid exhaustion of Green troops means that the US commander needs to advance in 'waves' (as historically) rather than just many-on-fewing the massively outnumbered and outgunned Japanese out of their holes. Hand grenades are a massive killer; also the lack of bazookas and FTs to bust bunkers forces you to rely on armour support in spite of the bogging risks.
So I can't offer the Sergeant Sledge Marine bloodbaths you probably crave, but it can scratch the itch.
Fanatical (modded) British forces stand in quite nicely for SNLF rikusentai. Alas, the mods (wireframes, faces, voices) were done in engine version 1 and were never updated for the new naming convention.
Not much new to add on the hoary topic of 'does the CM2 engine work for Pacific?' but the bipolar AI infantry movement consisting of either 'slow painful crawl' or 'run straight at 'em howling' actually reflects Japanese tactical practice tolerably well....

Was that system in service in 2007-2008 is the question though?
While I too would love a CM:SF that's updated to CM:BS technology (& beyond), that's not what is currently on offer (CM:SF Expansion Pack 1 maybe?).

IIRC @LongLeftFlank made a Pacific Mod for early iterations of CM:BN, mods aren't really my cup of tea so I know no more (but AFAIK it's no longer functional).
PS - The fact that (IIRC) there was one whole tank vs. tank engagement in the 1944-45 Burma campaign and maybe all of two or three decent ones in the Pacific could be a factor in the BFC policy.

Scratch that it was already on the list.
    PS - Just played a CM:BB battle.....I lost a StuG III Ausf B, 4xPz III Ausf H & 2x Pz.38(t) Ausf B to a pair of KV-2s in the space of three minutes.....God I miss the 'grey panzer' days!

I had exactly the same issue.....Steve sorted it in about an hour (you won't have to buy anything again, if you have a key, you have the product), but I was lucky to catch him online here (IIRC the fix was something like reapplying the original keys), maybe open a ticket with tech support before trying this though.

I assume CMSF2 will happen during same era as the original CMSF, about 10 years ago.
If there will be a new CM game one day where events happen in future (like 2020 or 2025) and weapons and equpment are what is planned to be available then, I believe air force will be much more important role than in CMSF or Black Sea. Missiles launched from helicopters, aircraft and drones have improved a lot on this century and some can be launched as salvos so a fighter place could destroy several tanks or vehicles during one attack.

Yep and I've posted it here before, I'll see if I can find it again.....To summarize, (IIRC) the formation of the jet requires a very precisely timed detonation of a very precisely shaped charge, a hole in the liner messes with the formation of the jet reducing its penetration massively.
After some trawling I found it again.....You'll find the relevant diagrams and sourcing in this thread (dealing with ERA):  http://sturgeonshouse.ipbhost.com/topic/1528-no-nozh-doesnt-work-as-advertised/

My mistake though, the fragment modelled was 5mm in diameter not 1mm as I erroneously stated.

Nothing is quite like CM, trust me.....I've been an avid wargamer for over thirty years, I've played everything from ACW skirmishes on a typical dinner table through to Harpoon battles on a tables the size of a double garage and nothing, but nothing, does a better job of modelling platoon-battalion sized WWII or modern land engagements than CM, be it on tabletop or computer.
I commented elsewhere about GHQ (& their ilk) being a nostalgia trip for me.....CM1 & CM2+ are the reason.
