Did anybody mention the issues with artillery hits on vehicles yet?  Multiple 122mm precision munitions bouncing off the top of a Bradley (and apparently not significantly degrading it's remarkable spotting capabilities) rather had me scratching my head.

You're welcome, and thanks in kind for the high praise.
Yes it's easy to get drawn into every little detail of a battle when editing and you have to know when to say 'Ok that's enough of that, what else is going on?' The footage/narration balance is something that comes with practice but I think you've got it spot on for the final cut.
One thing that was suggested to me and I have started doing is having the 2 opposing factions occupy different parts of the screen. In my last 2 vids I have placed the forces under my control on the left of the screen moving to the right, and the opposing forces on the right side of the screen moving to the left. If you watch clips of the 1970 movie 'Waterloo' you'll see what I mean, the Brits are mostly portrayed as being on the left of the viewer and the Frenchies on the right. It seems to have gone down well and perhaps clears things up a bit but it also limits the creativity in a way.
Anyway looking forward to part 2 whenever you get around to doing it... I know how long these things take believe me!

I've read/heard from various sources (probably a British TV show ) that that often-quoted statement has been misinterpreted. Tanks normally operate in platoons of five. So EVERYTHING they do it would be five tanks doing it. A Tiger spotted on the hillside? You send a tank platoon (at the very least) to resolve the issue.

    They do.
Various members then responded and explained exactly why it can't happen without diving into the editor (and I should add, how to do exactly what you were asking for in the editor).
But the bleating continued.....And here we are.
Which takes more effort do you think:
    BFC rewriting the whole game.

Don't think anyone's mad at you fella, just a bit perplexed at why you don't click that button and answer all these questions for yourself.....You are clearly a bright bloke and you are clearly interested in the intricacies of the system.  The most experienced (& least experienced) guys here all keep telling you exactly the same thing, that the easiest answer to many of your questions is to be found in the editor, but you apparently just won't click that button.

Maybe two of them will do the 8 mouse clicks necessary to open a scenario in the editor, add the time, save it and then exit back to the battle screen.

The 'claim' has definitely turned up in the latter!
PS - Interestingly this article, from the same source, claiming to identify 'Why is the Afrin situation a threat to Turkey':

Doesn't mention Daesh or ISIS once.
Some truly priceless quotes in this latest one:

That could mean 259 Kurds and one ISIS prisoner.
I'm not saying they're not killing some ISIS, just that ISIS are not their primary target and I don't recall ever reading that the Turks had claimed as much (elsewhere at any rate).....But making the claim that ISIS are a target must make it all just a bit more palatable for everyone (except the Kurds of course) to watch as one 'Coalition' member pulverises another.
    No.

Sgt.Squarehead reacted to Schrullenhaft in can not play these game any more?
I was able to get the entire CMSF series installed and activated in Windows 10 Pro v. 1709 ('CE'). Avast needed to be disabled in order to install and activate the game/modules. Once the game was installed, activated and patched exceptions were added in Avast for the game directory (the individual game executable files didn't seem to need an explicit exception) and the game needed to be run with 'Run as administrator' privileges. 'Runservice.exe' also did NOT need an Avast exception. Nothing was changed in regards to Windows Defender (whatever version installs with Windows 10 Pro). CMSF was installed to its default directory within the 'Program Files (x86)' directory. Avast did flag the 1.21 patch before it was disabled (something it and a lot of other security programs do with that executable).
No other CM games were installed on this computer. The only security software installed is the free version of Avast and Malwarebytes (and whatever Windows Defender consists of). This computer also didn't have a lot of other software installed. Just browsers, Libre Office, Acrobat, Flash, possibly Java, etc. The 'LicCtrl Service' was started and running with no errors (a key to the problem being seen here). The 'runservice.exe' file is 16,384 bytes in size and has no special attributes set. The 'msvcr71.dll' (a Microsoft C Runtime library DLL) is 348,160 bytes in size, located in the 'C:\Windows' directory and has no special attributes set.

I definitely agree.....On the other hand, this shouldn't stop those so inclined from jumping into the editor, making the changes they want (& dealing with the consequences of doing so), it's a good way to learn to use the editor.

Great thread on advanced tank armour (NERA) here (I suspect @IMHO is familiar with it):  http://sturgeonshouse.ipbhost.com/topic/553-****ing-nera-everywhere/
    Similar thread for ERA:  http://sturgeonshouse.ipbhost.com/topic/574-explosive-reactive-armor/
The current proposed armour upgrades do actually cover the frontal aspect, these would (AFAIK) be applied in addition to the upgraded side armour (as seen in CM:BS) in high threat environments.  This in itself is an acknowledgement of the threat presented by modern ATGMs/RPGs (& Russia's improved long-rod penetrators):

PS - Wow!  The forum word filter sorted the title without breaking the link, I'm actually pretty impressed by that!

There's a lot that could go into this. Let's look at an Abrams with TUSK. Beauty, heh? TC has a .50 and the loader has an M240. Should they both be up? If both, then the TC loses the hunter/killer benefit of the dual targeting systems...and the blue force tracker. If just the loader, then we lose the beauty that's the .50.
If the "light" weapon is a RWS, then should the TC pop up and reload it automatically? What if he's surrounded by hajis with AK47s? How does the logic suss that out? What if he's in a crowded urban environment with unspotted enemies. It'd be crazy to reload, even with no known enemy.
These are quick, dirty, and shallow examples. I'm only doing this to show that there is no easy answer. If you go with the "every hatch on every vehicle should be individually controlled by the player" solution, then what about the AI? Can't hamstring the AI or the TacAI, can we? (Any more than it already is, by its very nature.)
    Just something to think about.

    Abrams armor plates

    Chobham/Burlington armor of Chieftain

    Merkava armor

And the last but not the least... T-72B armor

@IICptMillerII, I believe we can be fairly sure no one passed the "dreaded secret" of Chobham armor to the Soviet Union. It's just the laws of the physics are the same be it US, UK, Israel or the Soviet Union so the engineers come to the same designs when concieving similar things. I can tell you even more:
The effect that forms the basis of the spaced composite armor / NERA (Chobham armor) was first used in the armor of the Soviet tanks albeit in a different, considerably less efficient setup And even more, the way Kontakt-5 ERA works is the same as NERA, it's just NERA uses the energy of incoming projectile while ERA - the energy of chemical explosion

That may be so but this has been debated ad nauseum over the years.
Those that want it say that they want to complete their victory or see their finely crafted plan executed to its conclusion while those that don't want it say that extending scenarios results in a fairly pointless endgame where the player hunts down every last enemy.
Both POVs have their merits but I'm in the play the scenario as intended camp.

TBH that's why I suggested stacked Medium IEDs, they are just enough for the job and even if both go off it doesn't leave a massive crater.
I know you don't like these dramatic scenario starts @Combatintman, but tastes differ and it's not an inauthentic way for the action to commence.  Workarounds for the problems you describe can be devised, not with 100% predictability for sure, but within a reasonable margin of error IMHO.....If @ncc1701e can pull it off, I'd certainly be willing to give it a go.
This would indeed be a viable option.....But a lot less dramatic.

Totally agree with the wish for more ruined buildings, also a ruined state for walls that matches what a bit of artillery soon produces would be great.....Placing a million flavour objects is not the ideal solution for linear ruins TBH.

Oh, yeah--a semi-ruined state for walls. I'm glad you mentioned that one. That's something that I've thought about from time to time, but never remember to bring up. Would love to have that and be able to use it for wall sections just like "painting" a regular wall line in.
