  1. Thin-Thread's but the tip of the iceberg, a lot of good men were treated very shabbily in those years.
  2. I'm not sure the problem is really NK any more, that seems settled, but the precedent that it sets.....I've commented elsewhere on what I'd imagine Iran are thinking right now (that they're not presently acting on such thoughts strongly suggests they've received certain 'assurances' from Russia &/or China IMHO).
  3. @sburke Kind of you to say that fella, but as you know it wasn't exactly a quick build, nor can I claim credit for all of it, I was greatly helped. The current one's taking even longer, mostly because I'm (re)training a dog at the same time and because I've had to erase a lot more of LLF's lovely map and lay down my own.
  4. 'Personnel' is the way forward IMHO. Either that or just use Hinds.
  5. Warning, this thread will self-detonate in.....5
  6. I always do this with BMP-1, BMP-2, BMD-1 & BMD-2 IFVs as they have a dedicated commander's position and decent weapons. It was reading some Soviet wargaming stuff, learning about Bronegruppa combined with a bad result in one of the stock Soviet campaign missions that prompted me to try this. In the mission in question you have three BMPs laagered for the night (two are immobilised, but the platoon commander's BMP is fully operational), it's very, very difficult to win this mission satisfactorily (ie: with low casualties) unless you man all of the BMPs. I always use the platoon HQ and two man scout sections (split from squads) for this in CM:A. FWIW
  7. I missed a key phrase out in my post above, should have been: "In CM:A it definitely makes a difference, especially at night, it's the key to one of the stock scenarios.....Consequently I usually try to do so in both CM:SF & CM:BS.
  8. Don't forget the essential companion piece: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Joy-Sexism-Viz-x/dp/187087093X http://viz.co.uk/category/cartoons/strip-cartoons/sid-the-sexist/
  9. Bulk move 'em to Imgur fella, they seem OK to me. https://imgur.com/
  10. In CM:A it definitely makes a difference, it's the key to one of the stock scenarios.....Consequently I usually try to do so in both CM:SF & CM:BS. In CM:SF if you are fighting Blue at night, you are dead, so it doesn't make any noticeable difference, if you are fighting Red, they are usually UnCons so whether it makes a difference is probably more dependent on their equipment quality (ie: do they have RPG-29/AT-14). I haven't played enough CM:BS to form an opinion yet, but I would expect it to still be a factor (all the BMPs still have a commander's station for the squad leader IIRC) in recent games I've been irritated to find that the squad RPG joins the recon team, which seriously reduces the firepower of the remaining team once he's sat in the track.
  11. The college will not appreciate you driving across their farm! Interesting to note that is exactly the same route I took (although I used different units). Sadly I suffered an AI induced fail and have to restart, basically my hidden teams did their usual trick of opening fire as they transitioned between floors in a building and to make matters worse what they opened up on was a light-armoured vehicle! That's happened to me a few times in CM:BS now and a couple of times in CM:A too, but I don't recall it ever happening in CM:SF (which is where I do most of my MOUT stuff).
  12. Quick question @Oleksandr Do you leave a two man team in your BMPs when playing CM:BS and do you believe it makes a difference? It's a habit I picked up in CM:A where it seems to make a big difference, but I haven't played this title enough to form a firm opinion (particularly regarding BMP-3s),
  13. I believe that is the correct term for objects preserved from an earlier age? This is far from my field of knowledge but I do find the whole period fascinating. I've been to most of the Templar sites in Europe and having seen their architecture first hand I'm convinced that we still have much to learn about that organisation. My late father wrote a thesis on the construction of cathedrals in medieval Europe, if you are interested I'll see if I can find a copy for your perusal, suffice it to say that Templar influence is inescapable, even long after the organisation's official dissolution. No points for me I'm afraid.....First thing that sprang to mind was Soviet agents stealing nuclear secrets (I must be spending too much time around Americans) and I know that's not right! PS - Googling it didn't help much either.....All I found was a footballer (possibly not the most intensive search I've made though)!
  14. I'm not looking at this from a 'Von Daniken Perspective', nor is my interest in the Templars based on some 'Dan Brownesque Fantasy', the reason I mentioned them is quite simply because were one of the primary conduits of eastern influence into Europe during the centuries preceding the renaissance.
  15. I'd guess the animation file is separate from the weapon file, no ideas beyond that.....It's still a great improvement, I'd be glad to have it.
  16. Just starting the battle.....Finding it hard to resist the urge to pre-plot artillery on certain locations on general principle. Will drop some images into the thread as I proceed....."Comrades, forward to the Bromyard Road!"
  17. Given the issues ex-Soviet & Russian/Ukrainian equipment seems to have with spotting it seems like a pretty legitimate tactic to me (against the AI), in a head to head game such things should be discussed and mutually agreed upon prior to play commencing IMHO.
  18. It's all bollocks JK, audio-visual Thorazine. Not at all.....IMHO it's more of a signal to outsiders that they should just relax and be themselves. Don't try to blend in with the locals, you can't, so be who you are and we'll put up with you (or not) based on that. We're a tribal bunch, but we're also quite social.
  19. @HerrTom Maybe we should team up on something, I hate building maps, but I really like detailing small sections of them and playing around with the AI. Just a thought.
  20. Mad Gaz is a mate of mine, if you frequent any of Worcester's many traditional pubs, you may know him too, he's a character! Whereabouts in Worcester are you? I'm in Northwick. My old house on Lansdowne Crescent is a couple of action spots off map by the northern blue setup area, but a couple of commercial buildings that we have in the Tything area are on the map (one is currently the wrong colour, sorry). Churches are a bit of an issue when it comes to Westernising CM:BS maps aren't they, but I have to say you've done a great job of capturing the overall layout of the city, I recognised it as soon as I saw it. Very, very impressed.
  21. That is some pretty awesome stuff fella.....I live a couple of miles upriver to the north of your map. Would you mind if I had a tinker with some small sections of your map? Wish I had some uncons that I could use on it for 'Mad Gaz & The SJLA**' **St. John's Liberation Army
  22. Aside from that and potential minor outbreaks of WWIII it should be fine!
  23. You won't learn much about Britain by watching shows like that.
