  1. Nor me, hence the format of my original question. But do you think it is plausible that the various transatlantic ventures of the 15th Century were inspired by the rediscovery of older texts/maps/artefacts? You refer to the legendary island of Brazil, could you expand more on that? Whose legend was this, what was its probable source?
  2. I understand chronology perfectly well Jon, hence the format of my initial question.
  3. Serious question, there's considerable evidence that the western continents were known in ancient times and in later years the Templars in particular were an inquisitive bunch.
  4. Pz.IV up to the Ausf H springs to mind, it had an APU for the turret traverse (it may have powered some other things too), this was removed on the Ausf J and replaced with a fuel tank (possibly some extra ammo too). Somewhat irrelevant, but there you go.
  5. It seems it has a new Stablemate, the T-80BVM: http://i.imgur.com/pm2EqZB.jpg https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YRrO8Z0mJt4/WbQ9DLrfMTI/AAAAAAAAD78/dGMFEF7fiQslDK9fuwlTy_TYIP8HWPDjACLcBGAs/s1600/d1eq0.jpg http://sg.uploads.ru/MGqLO.jpg All images lifted from this thread: http://sturgeonshouse.ipbhost.com/topic/884-t-80-megathread-astronomical-speed-and-price/?page=11 at SH, displayed as links to avoid thread derailment.
  6. I'd guess (and it is only that) the 'Target Light' command at longer ranges might bring the scoped G43 to the fore, but I've not tested this theory at all.
  7. Weird thing is, while testing the CM:A scenario in the pictures above, I appeared to be able to resupply the 7.62mm Tokarev PPSh SMGs with 7.62x39mm, which they appeared to be able to fire.
  8. Do you think Columbus had access to something like the Piri Reis Map, perhaps a Templar artefact or even Phoenician?
  9. Just trying to chill things out, maybe salvage some actual content from the thread. BTW have you noticed how OP's military-technology threads have a tendency to randomly explode, usually catching all manner of bystanders in the frag-pattern!
  10. I seem to have lost all interest in WWII, I'm not even modelling at the moment. Can't wait for CM:SF II, we'll be able to play some amazing scenarios.....If we can get a few more AI options linked to triggers and some variations on the terrain objectives it will be even better, but I confidently expect it to become the most popular game in the series regardless. Blowing up 'Head-Choppers' is just too much fun, even better than blowing up Nazis!
  11. Slowly at the moment, I'll make posts in the relevant thread in due course. BMPs are capable of much more than mopping-up believe me, look up the 'Bronegruppa' Rinaldi refers to in his post. Tactics that are useful against a peer state opponent (even in a low intensity conflict) may not work as well in an entirely asymmetric environment. Likewise you can do things in an environment such as CM:A (in the earlier years at any rate) that you just wouldn't dare against an opponent who might have modern(ish) ATGMs. Hope this doesn't distract too much from your thread @Oleksandr I think it's actually quite relevant given the wide range of 'conflict intensity' that CM:BS offers us.
  12. Misunderstandings happen.....So back to the tanks perchance? I was very pleased to discover that the Abrams has been brought up to an acceptable standard in the years since 1989: http://www.electrothermal.com/adminimages/Electrothermal_editorial.pdf Courtesy of Sturgeon's House once again.
  13. That does not apply equally across all titles in the CM range.
  14. I will personally vouch for the first two both being proper decent stand-up fellows (and St.Fuller appears to have excellent taste too) so you've got no worries there.
  15. That's a good idea.....Maybe post your ideas in the thread where they can generate relevant discussion and feedback, then compile them as a document for wider use.
  16. But didn't we actually see some images of T-90 turrets being refitted with the 2A82 not very long ago? I wonder what happened or if there were problems?
  17. Not yet, but CM:BN does, so CM:SF II probably could/maybe will have them (I hope). I'm hugely looking forward to that game, I'm doing some CM:SF & CM:A scripting at the moment and eight AI group just isn't enough unless you use some cunning tricks.....My hat's off to the scenario designers who have gone before and discovered/invented these techniques.
  18. Good man.....Nice lighter. (Mine has a wolf on it. )
  19. Fair comment fella, didn't intend to induce thread-drift. I'm interested in what you are doing, are you testing these positions against the AI or a real opponent?
  20. And I yours, I suspect. I'm a Yorkshire Tea man.....Two sugars in with the tea-bag, good long stew & mash, add (fresh, semi-skimmed) milk until a rich terracotta colour is achieved (always remembering to remove the tea-bag first), preferably in my Airfix Spitfire mug: If you didn't know I was British already.....
  21. "No Boiling Vessel!" Well that's it then, the thing's utterly useless! I was wondering if this would crop up and I'm rather pleased to see that it did.....We Brits really don't do anything without a decent cuppa.
  22. This just popped up at Sturgeon's House, a (1989) British perspective on the Abrams: http://sturgeonshouse.ipbhost.com/topic/1395-contemporary-western-tank-rumble/?page=4&tab=comments#comment-109867 FWIW
  23. So are the companies down to two platoons or are the third platoon riding in softskins?
