  1. Thought I'd chuck in a vote for smoke grenades and demolition charges as options.....I'm sure @SLIM would like a few more of both in Mosul.
  2. Likewise.....To clarify my earlier point about whitelisting, the difficulty I was having with Webroot was with the real-time monitoring. The files were whitelisted on my system, but the real-time monitoring was still seeing them as a threat when they became active. Webroot would then whitelist the processes at their end which would solve the problem until the next update, at which point we were back to square one. Hopefully this problem is now fixed, I (& Lucas at Webroot) await a new game update to see if the revised/new processes trigger a warning or are recognised as safe. This should be a global fix if it works, so once the fix is confirmed Webroot will always recognise CM games as safe in future.
  3. How much did that cost you, or has reality dawned on them? Too late for me either way, I've only left one image on my account: Apologies for slight NSFWness to those of you who can see it.
  4. Guys, give the fella a break, he's trying to mount a hypothetical discussion in a second language FFS.....Maybe take the discussion forward in Swedish and see how that goes for you? Seriously, there are some valid and interesting points in this thread, don't let them get drowned out in silly and pointless antagonisms. Clearly the Abrams baseline fuel consumption was a matter for consideration at some point or they wouldn't have added the APU (in whichever upgrade).
  5. This article from Counterpunch holds some salient points IMHO: https://www.counterpunch.org/2017/09/08/the-syrian-war-is-ending-and-assad-is-the-victor/
  6. Acting as an honest broker is always a good starting point.....Let's be utterly truthful with ourselves here, the west collectively has been anything but in it's dealings with the middle-east. But as you suggest, we do now have opportunities to correct our past mistakes, mostly by not adding to them.....Sadly that does not appear to be the course that is currently being taken.
  7. For further comparison, here's Armata's older brother: T-95 Very similar indeed aren't they, but you could say the same about pretty much everything from Assault Rifles to Stealth Fighters. The firepower of the T-95 does slightly set it apart though, it's a 152mm & it has a 30mm cannon in a co-ax mount! Does anyone know if this thing could fire Kornet or an equivalent GLATGM? The calibre is right.
  8. Look forward to it, it's great to see some life in this section of the forum.
  9. Interesting to see that the M1 is the easiest to maintain, that's somewhat contrary to my expectations.....Every day's a school day, as they say. Is Sweden planning on invading Russia? Not sure it's a good idea, the historical precedents don't bode well.
  10. Cheers for that fella, I looked for the Microsoft page but couldn't find it. PS - The problem with Whitelisting is that it's a one time fix, as soon as the game updates the problem will probably recur (it did for me, every time).....What I'm trying to get Webroot to do is recognise the CM games as 'safe-software' (it's actually done and just needs an update or new CM game to test it has worked). Hopefully once one AV vendor starts noting the titles as safe, hopefully they all will.
  11. Nah, I've genuinely got the Webroot global-tech-team on hold waiting for an update, me and the dude handling it are on first name terms these days. https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Antivirus/Webroot-causing-software-to-hang-in-Windows-7/m-p/293311#M30088 As for Microsoft Security Essentials, I've made what I hope are the right moves to prevent the problem recurring with CM:FI (haven't reinstalled it yet though), but I'm concerned that other games in the series might suddenly get targeted, possibly for the reasons you explain here:
  12. That's very kind of you TFO, much appreciated fella.....Anything Russian or Ukrainian except the truck would do me just fine for Trumpton. I'll have to have proper look at mods & tags, I'm really impressed by this, it's just the sort of creative lateral thinking that I've always loved about the CM series.
  13. The gunships will only engage if there's a target, so there's no loss to you if they don't spot anything AFAIK, they'll still be there on call until they actually expend their payload.....With that in mind I reckon you guys should replay using the same sides, I suspect things might turn out rather differently.
  14. Nice work sir! If you'd used almost anything Russian but the Ural, I'd ask you for a copy, but that's the one Russian vehicle I actually use in Trumpton!
  15. Frankly, right now I don't think Syria could give two hoots what it all means for the rest of the world.....Hardly surprising under the circumstances. Still those directly responsible for creating this mess now have an awful lot of itinerant jihadists (some of whom are feeling rather badly let down right now) wandering about in their general region.....Blowback's a bitch!
  16. Situation 28th Aug to 4th Sept: Once again taken directly from LoooSeR's thread at SH.
  17. Would be nice to see some official comment on this.....Is this going to be a problem with other games in the series? Why is it being detected as a threat? I've spent months trying to get the games recognised by Webroot (their tech team awaits an update to verify if it's worked), but now Microsoft is causing me exactly the same issues .....Trying to get a meaningful response out of them would be challenging I suspect!
  18. One other minor issue is that the invisible vehicle would block action spots, maybe affect LOS and it would provide some cover, not a big deal really, but worth considering I guess.....If you made 'em I'd use 'em (lots of them if they were done for CM:SF or CM:USIICW CM:BS)
  19. Wasn't me fella, I'm just an interested onlooker here.....I don't think I've even played this scenario (I've got it though, I checked). I do know the map very well (assuming it's the unedited version from the QB Maps folder), I've built several things on it in the past (it's one of the best IMHO). Gunships always make a sighting pass at speed the turn before they commence their attack, they then usually make a very distinct hard turn noise as they commence the attack run.....If you hear that noise, it's already too late. PS - I've used this for dramatic effect in a few of my single player scenarios, basically targeting an area where the player cannot possibly be with an AI fire plan, this causes the helicopter to make several sighting passes (in completely the wrong place, but the player doesn't know that) over the course of a few turns. You do have to be a bit careful not to trigger Red on Red incidents when doing this, Hinds are apparently often rather liberal in their interpretation of ROE (especially in CM:SF).
