Well, except without the speed, small size, decent optics and, of course, toilet and tea-brewing facilities.

Still persistent issues as this thread has already stated. Not to be a Debbie downer, but this is so far probably the worst "official" campaign across any CM game I've played. I'm shocked this is in the final product, much less an add-on. How do you not even fix the basic stuff like correcting the stated equipment? The campaign in general has a distinct vibe of not even being playtested at all.

Well you are close, right now “officially” there are three campaigns:
US Campaign - Set along Hwy 66 from Fulda to Hanau.  Basically pits a US Battalion TF against a Soviet divisional advance.  There are two versions of this one, the primary is in 82’ so M1s/M2s do make appearances but it is then M60/M113 family that does the heavy lifting.  The second version is the same campaign but set in 79 both with and against older equipment.  The US has M48s as the primary tank, with M60s showing up.  The Soviets will have T55s and primarily T62s.  The 79 Campaign treats Fulda as a secondary theatre but from what we have seen it is the harder of the two.
Soviet Campaign - This one ‘may’ have two versions but I will save that surprise for later.  Set also in ‘82 it follows the 120th MRR in the first 48 hours of the war from the West German Border (near Mansbach) through to the outskirts of Alsfeld.  Right up front this will be the hardest campaign, the Soviets are primarily in BTRs/T62s (but the 120th does have a BMP Bn) against top notch 11 ACR and 3rd Armd Div troops.
NTC- think of it as a tutorial campaign but knowing Bil H it will dole out the challenge (he is a crafty old coot).  Bil, is pulling for his own time at NTC back in the same time period, so I expect to be excellent.

Possibly for the first time in CM history, everyone seems to be on the same side about this one.....On that basis I figure it's only a matter of time.

    Some other things.
M60's commander's cupola while being a weak spot does have some advantages.
-Has higher magnification, can reload the .50 from inside. M1 is lower magnification (good for most shooting, not good for spotting)
-Has a night vision sight and big forward unity sight, M1 commander doesn't have his own night vision sight.
-M1 has better vision blocks, where as the ones in the M60 are tiny.
While both tanks don't have great visibility by modern standards, from SB experience it generally feels like you get a bit better visibility from inside with the M60 as the commander. In the M1 you're pretty blind turned in. In CM you'd probably want the commander opened up all the time, unlike the later M1A2s.
Fire control wise, the M1 has as digital fire control where as the M60A3 TTS is built on top of old tech. M1 is going to be better at lead, firing on the move, stuff like that. If you look at the M60A3 switchology, you can see there's more manual steps.
M1's gunners sight is one of the highest things on the tank (on the roof, no commanders cupola), so you can peek from turret down with it without exposing much. Never really tested how well this works in CM.

Actually would really interesting to see a comprehensive comparison between the practical capability comparison between the two.
    Very similar:
    - Accuracy (Fire control system, optics)
    - Lethality (ammo, gun)

    Improvements with the M1
    - armor protection (significantly more) https://i.imgur.com/x6C6pXf.png
    - mobility (significantly more) 72kph vs 48kph
    - crew protection (compartmentalized ammo, etc.)

https://youtu.be/WDs5oQW1vNA Abrams Switchology (this is M1A1 but to my understanding A1 mostly effected mechanical stuff as armor and gun)

Same 105mm gun. M1 and M60A3 share the then-latest depleted uranium APFSDS round, the other tanks use earlier rounds. One notable thing, no smoke shells for Abrams. That round needs to be stowed vertically due to the nature of its contents but there's no vertical round stowage in Abrams. So no smoke shells.

Don't miss out on the fabulous Austrian army!
Hint: There is not much extra modeling work to be done! 🤣
    Iconic equipment includes:
The Steyr AUG. The 18 t 'Kürassier' tank hunter. Unique stationary tank turrets and bunkers! Some links:
Link 1 Link 2 Link 3 Seems that I shall have to pay a visit to the Museum of Military History here in Vienna.

BUT not for the reasons you would probably think. I finally came back to Combat Mission after a very long break and decided go all in on Red Thunder. I'm not a late war fan but figured I could finagle the design of some Crimean Offensive scenarios and maybe a campaign (April-May 1944). I have spent the last month researching like mad, putting my OCD to the test, even learning to translate a few bits and pieces on Russian maps. Now I need to put all that work on hold and start working on Cold War research/design ideas. If nothing else I guess that gives me until sometime in April to get at least a scenario for CMRT designed, tested and released.
All I have to say is, this CMCW better be the cat's meow.  😁 In all seriousness though, I know I won't be disappointed.
For motivation for me to kick things into high gear, here is the current CMRT map I'm working on (800m x 640m). It's taking forever because I'm really trying to flesh it out with flavor objects . . . .

    Ugh, that movie 😁
Just remember that movies are meant to entertain, not to educate. Especially comedy's. Don't read too much into all that.
In CMCW the Bradley comes in its own TO&E formation, and the dismounts are the 6 man teams they were in reality. The player doesn't have to do any annoying splitting or cross loading, all of that is taken care of by the TO&E.

The terrain shift when shifting between Germany and NTC region in QB is dramatic. I can see people playing faux Yom Kippur war engagements on the NTC landscape, its like having two separate games.

zmoney reacted to MikeyD in Anyone care to comment why no NATO army uses/used anything like the RPG?
I read somewhere that US Army has a hard-and-fast rule that rocket launcher warheads can't be larger than the launch tube. So their version of Carl Gustav  doesn't use the German oversize warhead.
US actually manufacturers their own RPG-7 named the PSRL-1. They're sold to US allies who can't do without their RPGs but don't have access to Russian manufacturers for various reasons.
