37mm got a reaction from quakerparrot67 in CMSF2-Afghanistan 'All in One'
Okay, the CMSF2-Afghanistan 'All in One' is now ready for release.
The modpack itself is a further refinement of the 'initial beta' released back in April & is, at its most basic, a merger between CMA & @Zveroboy1's SF2 Afghanistan work.
Changes mostly involve further tweaks of the CMA terrain to better fit with CMSF2, @Mord's original CMA & CMSF portraits as well as various ISIF tags have been added to the UI, the Soundscape is being upgraded to v1.6 (thanks to @waclaw's HQS 4.0), the uniform mix has been altered, (@Oleksandr's uniforms are now the ones often activated by the [mountains] tag), bridges & highways have been tweaked, @Pete Wenman's rural stone walls have been added & a new lowlands background is being used (sourced with the help of @Erwin).
The marsh to water & rudimentary dutch ANA mods have been deleted as they're no longer needed & @Zveroboy1's green ANP pick-ups are now activated by tag [anppu].
In terms of content, I've collated all CMSF & CMSF2 Afghanistan scenarios & campaigns I could find (including a few french ones, now translated, thanks to help by @CMFDR).
The SF2 stuff, by @Zveroboy1 & @puje, has been left almost entirely untouched however the CMSF scenarios & campaigns (including @dragonwynn's 'Heart of Darkness') have all been given a lick of paint... mostly by the simple method of swapping marsh into water tiles.
I've also converted the eight CMA quick battle maps by @Stagler for use with CMSF2 & the 'All in One'.
In total, there's two campaigns (19 scenarios between them), 37 single scenarios* & the 8 quick battle maps.
I was hoping to make some original stuff this year but that'll have to wait for another time.
Anyhow, here's the download link (I advise adding the modpack to an empty mod folder only)...

37mm reacted to rocketman in Moire Removal - Worghern Mod
I still see moiré with this mod only a little less pronounced. Moire occurs with a repeating pattern and not with a single terrain tile, so my conclusion is that it is all about the pattern on the single tile and if it will induce moiré when repeated. I have downloaded some terrain textures that look promising in that they can be a fair representation of a plowed field, but not creating moiré. First test is looking promising. Will do some work with this when I find time and give players a few options to try. Right now I have three different textures that I hope can work out well.
My experience is that moiré occurs most in sunny conditions, but I might be wrong. One thing is for sure and that is that the pattern occurs much more at different camera angles toward the ground, direction orientation and general light conditions.

37mm reacted to Freyberg in Finished Frey CMFI Map Pack 1
CMFI Map Pack 1 - thanks for the encouragement of my friends on the BF forum.
Map packs contains 120 maps, based on 40 different areas of terrain, with an Assault, Attack and Probe for each map. Each map has unique setup zones and objectives. Each map has four defender AI plans and one attacker AI plan, so you can play as defender, and play and re-play as attacker.
Attacker AI plans are based on my own attacking strategy when I played the map, so they work OK. Defender AI plans are quite mixed - at least one defender plan in each map will contain some sort of spoiling attack or counter-attack, sometimes quite an aggressive one! I hope it keeps you on your toes...
(More to come - I started with the maps already closest to completion)
Thanks especially for the kind encouragement from you guys who downloaded them and tried the draft versions

37mm reacted to MKSheppard in Comprehensive CMx1 Collection
THE BASIC PROBLEM:
I'm sure that you've all noticed over the years that this scenario plays itself out over and over:
Person A: "Hey, does anyone still have X for $Insert_Game_Name$ ?"
Person B: "Yeah sure, here, let me put it up on my webspace or on a random download server like Mega.NZ"
<five years pass>
Person C enters the thread and gets excited.
Person C "The link doesn't work anymore!"
*pause*
Person C "Hey, does anyone still have X for $Insert_Game_Name$ ?"
A Potential Solution: Might be with the Internet Archive. It's funded by a foundation and they seem to be relatively durable; so they're the closest thing to archival on-line storage we might see for some time.
With that in mind, I've been slowly working on a project for the last month to quasi bring back the old Wargamer.com scenario archive back from the dead -- and that's morphed into a general archiving program for old game mods and such.
Naturally, I did the Combat Mission x1 series.

It's successor, The Scenario Depot II was at http://www.the-scenario-depot.com/ until the domain wasn't renewed.
It was then "lost" for several years until I contacted the site owner; and got this URL:

This was created from an old DVD that I burned with about 3.7 GB of Combat Mission CMMOS data on or around 2004.
A lot of the information on this was "lost" over the years, and this is my way of giving back to the CM community.
Here is a file list:
Total number of folders = 62
Total number of files = 1809
Sum of file sizes = 3.5~ GB
It's all within several spanned ZIP files.

37mm reacted to Mord in New Mod: Mord's Realistic Afghanistan Unit Portraits
No. Sorry, I don't see them anywhere. But trust me, you don't want them. They are complete crap. They were the second portrait mod I ever made and absolutely horrible looking. They weren't even on par with the Normandy or FB portraits that are still on Greenasjade's. It's not being hard on myself either, they were objectively bad. LOL.

Four "Bong-Hai Civil War" Era Campaigns- -The amazing 15 mission "Year of the Rat" by @puje,
-A 15 mission People's Militia concept campaign by myself (The Special War).
-A conversion of a 7 mission CMA campaign originally by @Fredrock1957 (now dubbed Major Nguyens Command).
-A, tweaked, 7 mission Urban "conversion" campaign (The Second Battle of Ikke) by myself.
Sixteen "Bong-Hai Civil War" Era scenarios -By far, the most impressive mission is the epic & original 'A miserable damn performance' scenario by @Combatintman.
-Most of the remaining scenarios are "conversions" (some of the scenarios from the 'Open Beta' have been tweaked).
One Modern era Campaign- -(Battle of Quy Ly- 4 missions) A rudimentary conversion of an old (very old) campaign by @RommL. Primarily an experiment in seeing what it takes to update a CMSF campaign, I made a few quick alterations and beefed up the opposition somewhat.
Nine Modern Era scenarios (one original scenario by @Sgt.Squarehead and eight simple conversions by myself).
Three Quick battle map conversions by @Combatintman.

In terms of settings, because Heaven & Earth maps are often more complex than the desert maps of CMSF2, you may find it useful to slightly reduce your '3d Model Quality' settings. 'Balanced' or 'Improved' should be sufficient for smooth gameplay. Remember you can change your '3d Model Quality' in-game using Shift+[ & Shift+]. You can also toggle shadows with Alt+W.
Some of the newly created objects may look odd with shaders off. Alt+R will toggle your shaders in-game.
Changes from the 'Open Beta'

Distant bitmaps enlarged to CMSF2 sizes, new distant dirt bitmap. Tweaked red dirt texture. Tree 2 less vibrant, many distant tree bitmaps have been tweaked/made darker. Different 'moodier' overcast clouds. New road mix. New background. Distant bush textures added. Buildings: Aquilla's Temple roofs added. Defensive works: Tweaked barbed wire colour. [daybattle] & [nightbattle] Three new 'distant battle' ambient sound tracks for use during extensive fighting. Activating [nightbattle] during non-night hours will turn on the dawn/dusk battle ambience. [cache] Blue syr icons added. [ikke], [burnt] & [burnt ikke] New Background, sky & terrain combinations. [night] If activated during the day this will now also activate dawn/dusk ambient sounds. 37mm reacted to easytarget in Video Software to Record CM
If you've got an nvidia card download the free Nvidia Experience and check out ShadowPlay. Makes a good video and you can downsize the files using movie maker (free program /w win 7, i assume it's in 10 as well).
Nice thing about ShadowPlay besides the fact it works seamlessly is it has an option to record the last 5 minutes with the push of a button, so you don't have to leave it running if you don't want to, just hit ALT-F10 whenever something cool happened and viola, the last 5 minutes is sitting there waiting for you as a file.

You probably need to make a Z folder, in general...
Place the mod pack into your mod folder in C:\Users\user\Documents\Battlefront\Combat Mission Shock Force 2\User Data
Or Place the mod pack into your Z folder (you may need to create this) at C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefront\Combat Mission Shock Force 2\Data
For Steam users...
Place the mod pack into your Z folder (you may need to create this) in SteamLibrary\steam apps\Common\Combat Mission Shock Force 2\
