The problem has always been "interpretation of data" controversies.
One can say that currently the death rate is "x"%.  But, if the vast majority of the people dying are from a certain group - ie: those with immune problems like some elderly and those already with serious illnesses, then that "x"% death rate is irrelevant to the population as a whole.  All one can say at present is that for that particularly vulnerable section of society, the death rate is x% if infected.
If you are not in that sample group, the death rate is almost certainly going to be completely different (much lower - perhaps no more than the death rate from the annual flu)).  From what I understand, young folks who are normally healthy may not even know that they are infected, let alone get sick, and should have virtually no fear of dying.
Logically, since young people are likely to not be aware they are virus carriers and need have little fear of dying from it, they should be wiped out (or at least interned) asap to protect the rest of society which is more vulnerable.

I have a a MS "ergonomic" keyboard.  I thought that was mechanical(?)
So, maybe a lap dance... or even an economically-priced hooker.  I like your thinking...

If you think about it, logically the best way of handling this crisis is if everyone was infected.  Then there would be no reason to not go out and live normally and keep the economy going.
30,000 people die from the flu every year and something like 70,000 die from traffic accidents and many more are seriously injured, but we don’t panic about that.
If we focused on protecting the most vulnerable and let everyone else get sick for 2 weeks, our society & economy would probably be in better shape very much faster.
All we've accomplished so far is create panic buying and price gauging, the store shelves are empty, and ensure that the pandemic could last thru August (we're told) or longer.

Will probably do that... and also get the 2x16MB RAM.  As with cars, I have never never regretted going for the best, but a compromise can irritate one for years.
Am often at war with myself over being frugal/sensible and not wanting (or needing) the risk of regret.
Discussing all this with you guys has been very helpful... and a fast education.

Do you have any evidence that the enhance speeds from an NVME drive are even noticeable/useful at a consumer level?

I went through the whole rigmarole of picking SSD drives a few months ago and I couldn't find anything that supported NVME drives being worth the cost outside of specialist use. SSDs are 10+ times faster than the average HDD (if not more) and I've been unable to find an NVME advantage over standard SSDs that makes it worth the cost.

Lots of designers have Anglish as a 2nd language so they should be congrachulated for what they can do.  Am less vorried about grammer and speling than about breefings that are either inaccurate, to complex and/or hard to unnerstand or omit important info dat the player needs in order to plan proper.

The good news is that we have always had folks like that from early days, so that is not a predictor of impending disaster.

Yes, it's very easy to take a lot more unrealistic chances as the clock runs out.  I figure our pixeltruppen would refuse in RL.  It's probably more realistic to fight only using Green troops with low morale etc.  But, of course that's not as much fun.  "Realism" is rarely fun.  What we players want is "verisimilitude" - the illusion of reality that makes us think we are great commanders.

That's why am leery about trying any game that claims to be "similar" to CM.   However, playing something completely different like Grigsby's monster WITPAE, or Rome:Total War is a nice break from CM when the inevitable burn out strikes.  I have all the GTA games from waaaay back and really need to load em up as well.

+1   Many of us here have kept the CM2 games on our HD for years as the game can be addictive.  Best value games ever.

Erwin reacted to SimpleSimon in Steel Division 2
So Eugen's games have always really been hit or miss to me. I really loved RUSE back in the day but the Wargame series really fell flat with me. Overly fixated on multiplayer gaming which im not really interested in anymore. On top of that the Wargame was desperately in need of a majorly redesigned user-interface so it wasn't so overwhelming and saturing the player with enormous numbers of units basically not-at-all different from one another in the context of the game.
Steel Division 1 was also very uninteresting to me since it was obviously still designed entirely around multiplayer. Steel Division 2 was released last year and I only grabbed the game back in fall in time for the Vistula DLC and it's honestly the first game from Eugen in over a decade that I could recommend to anyone....with some notes and commentary on its overall design.
The new Army General mode is the thing Eugen's games have desperately needed for years. Wargame's really basic campaign generators weren't bad, but were crippled by cheating tactical AI and its bad user interface. Steel Division 2 has finally incorporated large numbers of semi-automated command mechanics that allow the player to delegate basic attacks and holding actions to AI commanders now. These mechanics have proven utterly crucial for me in finally being able to actually recommend Steel Division 2 for those interested in the game. It's still overwhelming at times....but crucially the player can now fine-tune the overall workload. You can do things like set aside artillery for counter-battery fire or planned missions that they will engage in without the need for tight micromanagement.
It still takes quite a bit of practice, learning, and frustration to grasp the overall game but it's really rewarding once you do. At least now the scale able automation allows players to "bite off" and learn acceptable chunks of game at a time. Once I learned the game I really felt Army General and its depicted battles (now including a Red Army campaign against Finland in 1944!) were both exciting and accurate recreations of the battles they depict that avoided the overly-scripted pitfall of many strategy games while also creating entirely organic situations that could both reward you or punish you for sticking with...or (crucially) disregarding doctrine.
As always Eugen's Iris-Engine technology is really impressive stuff, allowing the player to look down on the world as if a God and then zoom right down into the action to see nearly-shooter level graphics is really stunning stuff and Eugen can be proud of their achievement as far visual technology goes. Overall, if you catch the game on sale? I suggest you grab it, but I can sympathize with anyone who has too many bad memories of previous Eugen games. It's still very much a "Wargame" sort of game but Eugen is definitely refining its games into something more accessible to a wider audience than just the hardcore multiplayers.
