  1. 1) 100 is the new 80 - my mother will be 100 in Feb and just had massive hospital check-up - nothing wrong with her(!) My theory re longevity is that we need to psychologically prepare expectations of living to 150 (or forever). And by then we may see early war CM2 (or CM3 even). 2) Am seeing more articles (in WSJ etc) about how many are trying to disconnect from social media as they realize what a time-waster it is. Apparently, re productivity growth what is starting to be recognized is that people are trying to catch up on work at night or weekends(!) cos they waste so much time at work socializing. What that implies is that productivity could rapidly decline if people are basically addicted to social media and eventually can't keep up with their work even in their spare time. I expect the new fashion will be people who dump their smart phones, value privacy and personal contact, don't text, and revert to actually talking to other folks. And then I will be the epitome of fashion.
  2. But, never noticed this b4. So, what is it about this mod that has changed the height of the gun (or the tracers)? Seems like something easy to correct.
  3. Yes. This is huge news to me. Am sure one still has to mount the vehicle or be adjacent to a supply dump.
  4. It may be psychological, but I modded the hell out of CMSF1 to improve its look, but the vanilla CMSF2 looks comparably good. It would be nice to NOT have to collect a ton of mods if the CM2 games start to feature better graphics out of the box.
  5. I thought I knew nearly all the bdgame companies and their products. Surprised to see so many more I never head of. Even more surprising that this tiny niche within a niche can support all these companies. Maybe if we wait long enough, fashions will change and playing wargames will become as popular as social media?
  6. I sent all my folders of campaigns and scenarios collected since CMSF1 was released to someone - I think Ian(?) - who has a place for d/l. Am sure someone will chime in and tell you.
  7. Unfortunately, a major problem for all you talented modders... Gotta pace yourselves... Maybe go chop wood or dig holes for a week or two? Hope enthusiasm returns.
  8. Someone will be sure to correct me if I am wrong. But, in most cases the graphic has no effect on how the game engine "sees" the pixeltrooper. Usually it's only eye candy. Wonder why the mod causes the tracers to emerge at the wrong place??
  9. Either way. the point still stands - this is a terrific little scenario, George. You are motivating me to try it again after "Coup" is completed. (And I normally hate replaying scenarios.)
  10. All praise to Vin for he is a wonderful saviour. This is probably the most used/useful mod in all CM2 games. I thought Vin had disappeared into that great darkness that eventually swallows all the famed modders. So, very happy he crawled out of his cave to give us this blessing. (And sorry that I often get Vin confused with Vein - another great modder who is where?)
  11. Am impressed with your attention to detail.
  12. Here's to bilateral Birmingham Hip Resurfacing techniques.
  13. I enjoyed this scenario back in the "dark ages" of CMSF1 - IIRC SLOW moving forward inf and BMP's and tanks in a tightly coordinated formation. The moment any enemy pops up, they get immediately cut to pieces - usually with little or no friendly losses. The important issue was placement of all units so that they were most able to cover each other - especially the point units. The only "issue" I recall was that the enemy tended to keep attacking through one or two chokepoints. So long as the chokepoint was covered, it was easy to kill em in the same old way as they came in the same old way (to para Lord Wellington). There was a long trail of enemy bodies along the exact same route by the end. And yes, it seemed that the scenario was over before time ran out.
  14. Yes, there is a video or audio intros for example in the Twilight 2000 mod, and for CMSF1. The CMSF1 intro mod doesn't seem to work in CMSF2 unfortunately. It stops the generic BF intro from playing, but the mod itself doesn't run. One goes immediately to the start (scenario selection) screen.
  15. If one likes the look of Coup, for heaven's sake go d/l and play MOS's Tactical Operations Center (TOC) - that scenario has been polished and available in CMBS for months! Aside from TOC being extremely good fun, it will enable learning some of MOS's brilliantly innovative concepts. So, Coup will be (perhaps) less of a culture shock re what can be accomplished in a CM2 title these days.
  16. I envy players who are experiencing CMSF2 with all the bells and whistles for the first time. As it was the only CM2 product available for 5+ years, the designers got very good at making xnt scenarios and campaigns - esp during the year b4 CMBN cam out. It's still my favorite game as I love the desert environment and the longer LOS that tends to be featured. CMSF was also xnt training to teach one to be very economical with forces and ensure minimal casualties. The WW2 titles were a shock after that. And CMBS is even more lethal.
  17. Interesting but revolting actually. Hope I can get the images out of my head...
  18. Agreed. When CM1 and CM2 were first released, discussion about tactics was a large, maybe the largest part of the forums. After a while, the forum subjects became dominated by rivet counting and discussions about historical accuracy. Maybe that is a natural progression from when a product is new and people simply want to learn how to play better... to a subject of more serious pseudo academic-like study. Perhaps also, a new product has less content, so we are all playing the same scenarios. Now there are so many CM2 families, each with increasing content resulting in our niche within a niche being increasingly fragmented.
  19. Well I spend most of my time in deserts, but you never know when I may have to be in arctic conditions, so sure... PM me. Curiosity is engaged.
  20. He's been doing that for decades. We had no credibility as one President after anther caved to political expediency. I recall some years ago talking to a diplomat who insisted that if we give Kim what he wants for long enuff he would finally come around(!) But it was obvious, that we (in the west) had lost all credibility re our "big stick". Finally, we are saying "no more" and Kim (and the Chinese) are starting to believe us.
  21. When I click on that button I get a "MEGA MUSIC SEARCH" window... with "Accept and Add" so it can do some other stuff to my system. Who on earth would do that?
